Sunday - July 22, 2012John 8:12 (NIV)When Jesus spoke again to the people,he said, “I am the light of the world.Whoever follows me will never walk indarkness, but will have the light oflife.”

Prayer:Ask God to help us follow Himclosely in everything we do, so as tohelp bring Christ’s light of life to thesurrounding neighborhoods near ourchurch both North and South.

Monday - July 23, 2012Ephesians 6:18-20 (NIV)(Paul speaking:) And pray in the Spiriton all occasions with all kinds ofprayers and requests. With this inmind, be alert and always keep onpraying for all the Lord’s people. Prayalso for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I willfearlessly make known the mystery ofthe gospel, for which I am an ambassa-dor in chains. Pray that I may declare itfearlessly, as I should.

Prayer: Pray for Ted and all of our pas-tors that the right words may be givento them like Paul in Ephesians. Ask forthe blessing and power of the Holy Spir-it and a boldness to speak of the Lordand help educate and direct us to be-come more like Christ every day.

Tuesday - July 24, 2012Colossians 4:2-6 (NIV)Devote yourselves to prayer, beingwatchful and thankful. And pray for us,too, that God may open a door for ourmessage, so that we may proclaim themystery of Christ, for which I am inchains. Pray that I may proclaim itclearly, as I should. Be wise in the wayyou act toward outsiders; make themost of every opportunity. Let yourconversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you mayknow how to answer everyone.

Prayer: Pray for the Pilgrims who arestarting the new campus of the church

that they may be able to open thedoors of Christ’s love to the neighbor-hoods in the Brodie campus area. Praythat Christ will open the hearts of thepeople so that we can help them andshow them God’s grace and forgiveness.

Wednesday - July 25, 20122 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)You then, my son, be strong in thegrace that is in Christ Jesus. And thethings you have heard me say in thepresence of many witnesses entrust toreliable people who will also be quali-fied to teach others.

Prayer: Pray for the lay leaders of thenew campus, that they will be reliablepeople who will serve the church andGod well. Pray for strength and protec-tion for their lives and service. Pray forGod’s blessing in their lives as theyserve others and help them.

Thursday - July 26, 2012Ephesians 2:19-22 (NIV)Consequently, you are no longer for-eigners and strangers, but fellow citi-zens with God’s people and alsomembers of his household, built on thefoundation of the apostles and proph-ets, with Christ Jesus himself as thechief cornerstone. In him the wholebuilding is joined together and rises tobecome a holy temple in the Lord. Andin him you too are being built togetherto become a dwelling in which Godlives by his Spirit.

Prayer: Pray for St. John’s PresbyterianChurch as our “fellow citizens withGod’s people.” Pray that this partner-ship will help their ministry. Pray thatboth churches be successful and helpfulto the surrounding neighborhoods.

Friday - July 27, 2012Hebrews 10:19-25 (NIV)Therefore, brothers and sisters, sincewe have confidence to enter the MostHoly Place by the blood of Jesus, by anew and living way opened for usthrough the curtain, that is, his body,

and since we have a great priest overthe house of God, let us draw near toGod with a sincere heart and with thefull assurance that faith brings, havingour hearts sprinkled to cleanse us froma guilty conscience and having our bod-ies washed with pure water. Let ushold unswervingly to the hope we pro-fess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spurone another on toward love and gooddeeds, not giving up meeting together,as some are in the habit of doing, butencouraging one another —and all themore as you see the Day approaching.

Prayer: Ask for the continuing guidancefrom the Lord. Let us all help one an-other towards the goal of becomingmore “Christ-like” every day. As someare leaving the William Cannon campus, pray that others will rise to help contin-ue the excellent work here. Pray wecontinue to invite others boldly so thatthe congregation may grow here also.

Saturday - July 28, 2012James 2:14-17 (NIV)What good is it, my brothers and sis-ters, if someone claims to have faithbut has no deeds? Can such faith savethem? Suppose a brother or a sister iswithout clothes and daily food. If oneof you says to them, “Go in peace;keep warm and well fed,” but doesnothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faithby itself, if it is not accompanied byaction, is dead.

Prayer: Let us not forget that throughall of the projects included in the Faithfor the Future campaign, we fundChrist’s work not only in Austin but inother countries around the world. Ourfaith is not dead, but alive, and we loveour fellow man and care for him/herwith Christ’s love, not only presentingeternal salvation but assistance here onearth to glorify God. Pray that theseresources be a bounti-ful help for those weseek to serve.

Pastor Mike will lead Disciple 4!We are blessed this year to have two of our ministersleading Disciple Bible studies. Pastor Britta (who hasalready led Disciple 1 and 2) will lead Disciple 3 onMonday mornings and now Pastor Mike will be lead-ing Disciple 4 on Wednesday mornings. So if you’vetaken Disciple 1, but haven’t quite made it to theupper levels yet, this would be a great year to get tostudy with one of our pastors. Once you’ve had Disci-ple 1, the upper levels can be taken in any order.

We will also have Disciple 1 led by Bob Beardslee onboth Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings and Dis-ciple 2 led by Mike McDonald on Monday evenings. Allfive of this year’s classes already have enough stu-dents to be considered “made” but we are still ac-cepting students in all classes. If you are interestedyou can sign up online at members.shpc.org or byemailing [email protected].

If you have already signed up, you should soon behearing from your leaders about the dates for yourorientation meetings, where you will receive yourstudy manuals.

Come GROW with us in Disciple!
