Mare & Stallion InspectionsThe Canadian Sport Horse Association has been inspecting horses for breed improvement since its incorporation in 1933. All horses intended for breeding purposes must be inspected and to be approved, must meet the required criteria for sport horse type. Sight unseen approvals may be given for mares and stallions based on their approval with their stud book or origin or on their high performance accomplishments as well as pedigree, such as Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Lamazes Hickstead. Internationally performing stallions and mares help CSHA to incorporate high performance athletes into the breeding population.

Stallion Approval ProcessThe stallion approval process is two-fold. Phase I -Stallions two years of age or older are presented at an inspection and evaluated on conformation, movement, free jump-ing and suitability to produce a sport horse type. Phase II the performance compo-nent must be completed by the end of their six year old year or for older stallions, one year following their inspection.

Stallions can earn performance premiums, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum in their sport discipline. A minimum of Bronze level is required to complete Phase II and earn full breeding approval. Performance Premiums have been updated for 2012 Silver denoting proficiency at the National level, Gold at the international level and Platinum the outstanding equine athlete at the highest level.

Sight Unseen ApprovalSight Unseen Approval is available for stallions that have full breeding approval with an acceptable Studbook. Approval with the other studbook must be based on confor-mation inspection and performance testing.

Restricted Sight Unseen ApprovalRestricted Sight Unseen Approval is an option for mare owners with foals to register, that are by stallions that are not approved with the CSHA but do meet the criteria for Sight Unseen approval. The mare owner, rather than the stallion owner is responsible to provide all the required documentation. An additional service fee is payable by the mare owner for each foal identified under this process.

Farrington comes from a sound well-bred family. Farrington is one of the few Dutch stallions with the famous dressage stallion Doruto in his blood. Doruto sired many top dressage horses: Olympic Barbria, Chevalier, Ideaal, etc. Sire, Wellington is well known as a producer of quality movement in his offspring, siring dressage horses like Bollvorms, Ceylon and Luxaflex. Farrington was awarded the Keur Predicate by the KWPN in 2002. This is prestigious for a stallion, indicating a producer of great performance horses. Due to a leg fracture, Farrington was not able to perform in the sport, which is a pity because of the great talent he possesses. During his Stallion Test he received: 8 for basic gaits, 9 for temperament. His daughter, Perry, became Dutch Reserve-Champion of 3 year old mares. Theandra became Dutch Reserve Champion of Keur/Elite mares. Farringtons offspring perform very well in the sport, resulting in his high index. Many of them are already per-forming at Grand Prix, such as Limited Edition. Born in France, Frenchman was competing successfully when injury curtailed his ca-reer. In 2002 he returned to competition in Canada with outstanding results, winning several jumper division championships, a Triple Crown title and is a serious competitor in the eventing world. He has inherited his fathers enormous scope and rideability. French-man scores 9s in his dressage and is careful and brave to his fences. He is short coupled with an amazing work ethic, and incredible temperament. Frenchmans sire is one of the current show jumping greats (63 Int. GP wins) and produces outstanding international performers (most recently WEG and Olympics). Diamont du Semilly is just one of French-mans relatives as well as being twice European show jumping champion. Frenchmans dam is an Alme daughter (the sire of all sires) whose blood line needs no introduction. Frenchman completed a CIC**. He also won the leading female rider award with Ruth in 08 and 09. He has been successfully campaigning across eventing and jumper. His foals are phenomenal, gaining his athleticism and fabulous big dog temperament and competitive themselves in the ring in all 3 Olympic disciplines. Frenchman is a light and easy ride and crosses well with most mares. This is one of the best bred stallions in NA.

Regardez had a fantastic 2011 Hunter Derby season with many Championship performances, making him the most successful Derby horse in the countr y. In 2005, Gully was presented at the Swedish Warmblood Inspection, scoring 8s and 9s for gaits. The judges comments were big, modern type, athletic, super temperament. Gully continues to be successful in his eventing career. His young stock are also proving themselves. His oldest, a 5 year old, was Reserve Champion in the CYEH series with top conformation award and also competed at 1.15m and 1.20 jumpers with lots of placings. His young stock took CSH 2010 year-end awards and continued with top placings in 2011. His 3-year old was 4th in the Lieutenant Governors cup at the RAWF in 2011. Portland L is already well known throughout Europe as a successful show jumper as well as a superior sire. He was bred by the legendary Fritz Ligges (Olympic Gold Medallist), who also owned and competed with Ramiro. Portland L was licensed as a two year old in Muenster, Germany. He received the highest possible score of 10 - 2x by his Test Riders in the Jumping Category at the 100-Day Testing. At the ages of 5 and 6, Portland L won jumping classes of the 1.20m to 1.35m Level, therefore qualifying for the German Federal Championships. In 2002, as a 7 year old, Portland L gained to his resum an unbelievable record of 17 wins and placings out of 18 starts at the M and S level (1.35m to 1.50m). Tacorde continues to prove that he has the athletic ability, the heart and desire to be a top level jumper, continuing his impressive career in 2011 with his debut in the international ring at Spruce Meadows. VDL Ulando H represents the very best of Holstein and Dutch Warmblood breeding, with no less than 8 International Grand Prix jumpers in the first 3 generations of his pedigree. Ulando was the 2004 Ontario Stallion Licensing Champion and Vice-Champion of the Stallion Performance Test. He placed 3rd at the prestigious Lt. Governors Cup at the 2004 RAWF, and was Grand Champion of the Hanoverian Free Jumping Competition. VDL Ulando began his career with the Jumper Development Series. In 2008 he began his eventing career with owner Ruth Armstrong, competing successfully in Ontario and Florida. Having schooled him through intermediate cross-country and show-jumping up to 1.45m, Ruth realized he had the power, scope and heart to compete at the top of the sport, and handed the ride over to Karl Slezak in 2011. Current success has him long listed and has proven that he has it all. Scope to burn, gaits to die for, and a fast light gallop that has him aimed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, UK. His offspring are proving exceptional with lofty movement, athleticism, correctness of gaits and inherit his tractability and genuine desire to please. Wolkentanz II has competed successfully at Advanced level dressage (S level) in Germany and Europe. Wolkentanz IIs first foal crop in North America are exceptional with many Premium and Site Champion foals. In 2009, 9 offspring competed at S level dressage and 1 at S level jumping. WYLLOW R was the Bronze Medallist at the five-year-old division of dressage horses (2008 Federal Championships) and sold for 380,000 euro ($520,000 US) at the PSI Auction in 2008. Ambrooke Lad (aka Junior) is out of PS Gilde, who is by the legendary dressage stallion Grundstein. This G-Line is renown as the most important and famous producer of international performance horses in the world, both in dressage and jumping. In 2008, Ambrooke Lad started his career in Ocala, Fla. Always brave and willing, he placed in the large Training Hunter classes and the Baby Green. He was easy to manage and pleasant to handle. He was a consistent ribbon winner in the Pre Green all season, placing at Ppinire, St. Lazare, International Bromont week 1 and week 2, as well as the Kubota National and National Capital Open GOLD Events. A good mover, he won his Pre Green Under saddle class in July at the International Bromont week 2. The Ottawa Kubota National Capital Tourna-ment Hunter Derby saw everything from the bank, to the grob, to hunter and jumper style fences in the imposing grass Grand Prix field. Junior, in his first year of competition, proved he had tremendous heart, by trucking around like an old pro.
