When in 1979, Karl-Heinz Dorn (upholsterer) and his wife Monika (seamstress and administrative assistant) started modifying seats for MotoX motorbikes in their living room, no one imagined what this hobby would one day lead to.

In 1990, their hobby became the couple‘s main job. In line with the belief that if you „Stop getting better, you‘ve stopped being good“, the company has since then consistently grown in small, well-considered stages. Following expansion, the company now has production facilities of approx. 1200 m², and a team of 19 works to manufacture Kahedo‘s products.Everything that leaves the Kahedo

company is „Made in Germany“. And this is a principle to which Karl-Heinz and Monika remain

true, out of absolute conviction. They know they will only find the perfect conditions for working to ecological and economic

considerations in Germany.

There are other innovative companies in the area who work together in a perfect symbiosis.

For The Most Comfortable Ride Over Long Distances

Even the most terrific and exciting motorcycle tour can become pure torture if your seat isn’t what it really should be. How can you be expected to enjoy a relaxed view of beautiful countryside when your sweaty skin has gotten so sore in the worst places from bunched-up, chafing clothing caused by a poorly design seat? Seats from Touratech, which are developed and manufactured in southern Germany in close collaboration with the experts at KAHEDO, are the cure for this problem. They ensure a most comfortable ride even over long distances.

Touratech seats are already available for many models of bikes, with more to follow this year. They’re made of the highest quality materials and are specially designed to meet the ergonomic demands posed by long-distance touring. This means that pressure points caused by poorly designed padding or incorrectly located seams are avoided right from the start, thus ensuring comfortable seating over the long haul. A special foam core, made extra carefully by hand and designed to best fit the rider’s anatomy, ensures that weight and forces are evenly distributed to prevent pressure sores – even after many, many kilometres.

In addition to their perfect shape, the comfort of the seats developed especially for Touratech is greatly increased by their sand-coloured, bi-elastic upholstery fabric. Its surface improves grip when braking and accelerating and also reduces sweating. The result: The rider sits far more se-curely on the motorcycle and has better control in any situation. The seams of our extra-comfort seats from KAHEDO are specially treated to be 100% waterproof; the taut upholstery fabric doesn’t allow rainwater to collect on it; instead, it just runs right off. Our seats can also be used as separate modules because they fit right in with original-equipment passenger or rider seats. At the same time, the contours of the rear, pillion seats prevent the passenger from sliding forward.

For some models, we also offer our seats covered in “breathable” fabric, which much like mo-dern motorcycle clothing lets moisture out yet is still waterproof. It’s the best solution for coping with heat and humidity, for it keeps underclothing from riding up, shifting, sticking and forming those pressing and painful folds and ridges. Tests in Namibia, Bolivia and Mexico have conclusi-vely demonstrated greatly increased comfort in hot weather.

Depending on the size of the rider and the intended use, Touratech offers seats in various heights and designs: from extra-low to high-rise, such as a sports seat for an LC 8 Adventure or an extra-comfort seat for an R 1200 RT. For instance, for just an R 1200 GS alone, we offer five different types of seats. You’re sure to find exactly what you need, and you‘ll really feel the difference!

To allow you to compare the heights of our seats with the one on your motorcycle, we have indicated the following measurement: the vertical distance from the (original) footpeg (removable footpeg grips should not be considered when measuring) to the lowest point of the seat model. With this dimension, you can reliably compare our seats regardless of the facts and features of your bike, such as model year, suspension, suspension setting as well as the wheels and tires in use.

In order to compare the heights or our seats with that of your motorbike, we have specified the heights measured from the (original) footrest (removable foot rest rubbers not included) vertically to the lowest point of the seat.

In this way you can compare the seats regardless of the model year, frame, frame adjustment and wheels and tyres fitted.

Touratech seats have been developed in close co-operation with Karl-Heinz Dorn (Kahedo). Karl-Heinz-Dorn and his team have been producing leather and textile sporty and technical products in Bisingen, at the foot of the Hohezollern Castle, since 1985. Production only takes place at the company site - made in Germany!

These are the important features of Touratech seats:

• A special, expensively hand-worked foam core with a soft to player and a solid core ensures that force is distributed evenly and prevents wear.

•With most seats a pronounced hollow (depression) in the middle of the seat ensures that there is no pressure on the coccyx and weight is distributed perfectly over the whole seat.

• A proprietary developed bi-elastic covering material povides a better sense of security and inhibits sweat to a greater degree. The seat is perceptibly more comfortable.

• The seams are stuck and welded together to ensure that they are 100% watertight.•Great care is taken to ensure that the seams are in positions that cannot cause any pressure points on

the thighs and buttocks.• Various seat heights are available.

The result a seat tailored to the rider and suitable for long journeys.
