REGISTRATION PROCESS

Feb 23: Freshmen Registration Assembly

March 5 – March 14: Counselors will visit Lifeskills/PE/Dance classes to register students. If you are not taking one of these classes you will be called to the cafeteria to register on the 13th or 14th.

Complete your registration card ASAP! After you have met with your counselor, take your card home for a parent’s signature. If you are requesting a different course assignment, your parent must fill out the change of assignment form.

Before Meeting with your Counselor

Review course choices in the registration handbook (starting on page 10)

Complete your Registration Card. Every space must be filled in!

Choose at least 6 elective courses

Know your graduation requirements! (see page 4)

21 credits for graduation 4 English 4 Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2 and an

advanced math)* unless substitution math sequence

4 Science (Biology, Earth/Env, a Physical science and an elective science)

3 Social Studies (World History, Civics, US History)

1 unit of PE or Dance Health and Lifeskills 4 electives based on post-secondary plans (2

years of a foreign language to attend a 4 year college)

Foreign Language in 10th grade:Spanish 2 or 3

French 2German 2

Do not take level 1 of a Foreign language as a sophomore if you plan to pursue the IB

Diploma!

Minimum Requirements for Admission to NC Public Universities

Minimum GPA is a 2.5

Minimum SAT is an 800

(reading and math only)

Most universities have higher requirements!
