First and foremost Congratulations to Angie on winning a Bronze medal earlier this week in London This week saw us spend Saturday morning in Riverside Plaza for the launch of the 2013 Queanbeyan Relay for Life. We even got a photo in the paper see below. If you would like to participate in the event you can register a team of your own or join our team at http://relay.cancercouncil.com.au/2013/queanbeyan_2013/Rotary-Club-of- Queanbeyan/ The Relay for Life committee is also looking for local businesses to donate prizes or become sponsors so if you know someone who can help, please put them in touch with us. Monday night saw Doug, Roni and I attend the NYSF Orientation Dinner. It is truly an amazing program. I was fortunate enough to be sitting with a young lady named Victoria and her Dad, Stu. She is going to the session in Perth and she is very excited. She has promised to get in touch with us upon her return so she can come and tell us all about her experience. Lots of great ideas have been raised and now it is time to put some steps into place and plan how we can implement them. Once again our club will be selling Gnomes at Floriade and we will need all hands on deck.

We need a minimum of 5 people per shift.

Renal Unit

So far we have a plastic box and some crayons/pencils but we still need donations of the

following items for

the Queanbeyan Renal Unit

kids colouring in books

pencils/textas/crayons

plastic toys (eg blocks, trucks) that can be easily washed due to hygiene reasons

These are so that a small toy box can be established in the waiting room.

The 2012 Australian Rotaract Conference will be hosted in the nation’s capital, Canberra.

Here’s the key info:

Dates: October 20-21. The conference itself begins on Saturday, October 20, but there will be special fundraising event on the evening of Friday October 19.

Greetings from R.I. Dist. 3230, Chennai, Indian PP Satyan Bhatt, Chair – International Friendship Exchange writing to you

from Chennai(Madras), India. Our DG also sends you his greetings and best wishes. We would be delighted to host 2

couples on a reciprocal basis in our District 3230. We can assure you of a wonderful stay and the Rotary families will

experience the warmth and delightful Indian hospitality. Not to forget, the legendary Indian cuisine with a mind boggling

variety which will make the visit most memorable. The duration of the visit could be around 7 – 10 Days. Our District

comprises of 117 clubs and the District Governor is Rtn Raja Seenivasan who is a very dynamic and compassionate man.

The best time to visit Chennai is during the months of December, January, & February. The average temperature during

this time of the year is around 20 degrees Centigrade.

Please note that they only wish to host 2 couples for 7 - 10 days.
