    Kolkata Blue

Yesterday I read this fantastic news/project

    coming from India.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is

planning to paint Kolkata blue. On roads, onflyovers and even on trees, after the red rule of

the Left and the green wave of Poriborton,

Mamata is out to paint the city blue.

The chief minister has decreed that the city needsa neutral uniform colour code. If the government

has its way even the iconic yellow taxis of Kolkata

    will be made blue.

And where it's not possible, like in WritersBuildings, the red turns to blue at night.

'If Jaipur is known as the pink city, Kolkata can

also be known as a blue city. Under the direction

of Mamata Banerjee we are using a uniform

won't be easy to make it real, I cross my fingers

    Fireflies (Lots of Japanese)

A very nice story read on Wired mag (thanks to

Susanna Legrenzi for the link). It's about mr.

Tsuneaki Hiramatsu, his hobby (taking long-

reasons why innovation is never a linear function

of actual people's needs and desires. Another one

    Triennale di Milano

    Big Lawn

I went to see the Museum of Design at Milan

Triennale. Short field trip with my Bocconi

students. A nice afternoon spent in the last 50

years of Italian design. This version of the museum

(Alberto Alessi as curator, Mart Guix in charge ofthe exhibition design) was ok. Not good, not bad.

Out of the many things displayed, my favorite is

surely the "Pratone", a masterpiece designed by

Giorgio Ceretti, Pietro De Rossi, Riccardo Rosso in1971 (when they named themselves: "Gruppo

    Strum") for Gufram.

The idea to have some 20 "Pratoni" (Big Lawn) one

next to each other with visitors allowed to jumpon them, it was a nice trick to end the visitors

    experience.

    Italia.

I like the idea. AndI also like mr Lapo, one of the

few Italian designers able to facethe old masters.

Here some more images related to his Tailor Made

Service (in partnership with Ferrari): http://www.

    20/20

    Toblach

    Ms Penny

I spent the week-end in this special place. A lovely

house in the Dolomiti mountains. Surrounded by

    stunning works.

You go to your roomto sleep and you understandyou are not alone: you'll spend the night with ms

    Penny (here above).

Boop. Very strange feeling. In the next days I will

report on the other curious people and things I'vemet there. For the time being if you want to know

more about ms Penny (to be precise this is #4

variation), and her Evan Penny (her master) here
