+ Ferries FroM phnoM penh to sieM reap (about 6 hours)

[ River Ferry ] Daily ferries ply the Tonle Sap river and lake between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. During the dry season, the ferry stops short of the dock and passengers transfer to smallerboats to cross the nal few hundred meters.

[ Siem Reap Ferry Dock ] The ferry to Siem Reap arrives at Chong Khneas near Phnom Krom, 12kmsouth of Siem Reap. There is always transportation waiting at the dock. Motortaxis charge about $1.50 -$2 and cars $4 - $5 for the 20-30 minute ride into town.

+ air travel to sieM reapMany airlines y to Siem Reap, including budget airlines Jetstar Asia and AirAsia.

The Siem Reap airport is about 15 to 20 minutes away from the city centre. When you arrive, you can

easily nd a tuktuk at the arrival area to bring you directly to your guesthouse. If he is unfamiliar with the

name of the guesthouse, you can show it on a map or nd another driver who knows the place!

    getting here

+ bus FroM bangkok to sieM reap (about 7 hours)

All travel agencies in Khao San Road Bangkok offerpackage deals with mini-buses leaving early in the

morning. You can also go directly to the Mochit railway

station where buses travel from Bangkok to Aranya

Prathet every half-hour. When you arrive at Aranya

Prathet, pass the border on foot. Once you have arrived

to Poipet, you have to take another bus or a taxi to

You can get your visa (US$20) at the border but DONOT FORGET to have one passport picture with you.

** Beware: When you arrive in Siem Reap, the taxi driver

+ bus FroM phnoM penh to sieM reap

[ By National Route #6 ] This road is pavedand smooth and there are several regularly

scheduled daily big buses and mini-vans

travelling in both directions, taking only 5 or 6

hours to make the trip. Several guesthouses,

travel agencies and bus companies offer bus

    transport.

On the trip, the bus makes one stop along

the way (at Kampong Thom for a snack or

lunch). The earliest bus depart starting at6:30AM and the last bus departs between

    noon and 2:00PM.

    More information on buses: www.canbypublications.com/cambodia/buses.htm

The first thing you should do when you arrive is

to check into your guesthouse. The Sun Sengky

Guesthouse is quite well known in Siem Reap. If

your tuk-tuk driver does not know where it is, it

would be useful to show him a map - or just ask

    someone else!
