KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to cast a ballot if you are a validregistered voter. A valid registered voter means aUnited States citizen who is a resident in this state,who is at least 18 years of age and not in prison oron parole for conviction of a felony, and who is registered to vote at his or her current residence address.
You have the right to cast a provisional ballot if your name is not listed on the voting rolls.
Y ou have the right to cast a ballot if you are presentand in line at the polling place prior to the close ofthe polls.
You have the right to cast a secret ballot free fromintimidation.
You have the right to receive a new ballot if, prior tocasting your ballot, you believe you made a mistake.If at any time before you finally cast your ballot, youfeel you have made a mistake, you have the right toexchange the spoiled ballot for a new ballot. Vote-By-Mail voters may also request and receive a newballot if they return their spoiled ballot to an electionofficial prior to the closing of the polls on election day.
You have the right to receive assistance in castingyour ballot, if you are unable to vote without assis-tance.
You have the right to return a completed Vote-By-Mail ballot to any precinct in the county.
You have the right to election materials in anotherlanguage, if there are sufficient residents in yourprecinct to warrant production.
You have the right to ask questions about electionprocedures and observe the election process. Youhave the right to ask questions of the precinct boardand election officials regarding election proceduresand to receive an answer or be directed to the ap-propriate official for an answer. However, if persistentquestioning disrupts the execution of their duties, the board or election officials may discontinue res-ponding to questions.
You have the right to report any illegal or fraudulantactivity to a local election official or to the Secretaryof State’s Office.

To become a registered voter in California you must complete a Voter Registration Form andmail or deliver it in person to the Registrar’s office. To obtain a form:
We need civic-minded citizens to serve as poll- workers on Election Day. Receive $80 to $100 plus $25 to attend a training session.
Volunteer your location as a polling place and receive $25. We especially need locations that areaccessible to persons with disabilities.
