The SDJBTS began in 2004 as a means to attract great lacrosse to the San Diego Region. Modeled after similar (successful) events in Hawaii & Las Vegas and striving to make a difference locally through charity and increased exposure to this great game. Each year the tournament has tried to add a division of play and will continue to do so until all levels are represented. Developed by the EMW Foundation, a San Diego based non-profit organization dedicated to hosting & promot-ing lacrosse events, the San Diego Jam by the Sea seeks to become the next great destination tournament offering all levels of play. From youths to the old guys, the tournament has something for everyone.

The EMW Foundation also operates the annual Palm Desert Lacrosse Classic (Thanksgiving week-end) and the annual Jamaica Lacrosse Tournament (Veterans Day weekend). The Palm Dessert event drew over 30 youth and HS clubs in only its third year. Games are played on a lighted five field complex in sunny Palm Desert over the Friday and Saturday following turkey day! The Jamaica Lacrosse Tournament, or JLT, coincides with the annual Veterans day holiday in early November. This event is slowly building into the fall “I’ve got to go” tournament. Check out the EMW Founda-tion website for complete details on all of these great events, www.emwf.org.

In 2011 we have increase our partnership to benefit two great organizations, the Autism Tree Project Foundation (ATPF) and the American Cancer Society. Join us for Casino Royale, Saturday April 16th 7-10pm in the courtyard of the Hilton Del Mar. Benefiting the ATPF, this fun casino style gaming event will offer black jack, craps, and roulette. All played with fun money that you exchange for chances to win some great prizes (hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, travel, and more). All weekend long we’ll raffle off lacrosse related items for the benefit of the American Cancer Society. There are lots of ways to help and it’s as easy as buying a bottle of water from Plus 1 Water, our of-ficial water sponsor that is donating 20% of all sales to the ATPF. Your participation and support is greatly appreciated by all that are involved in making this a successful weekend.

New for 2011 is the “Bear Champions Cup” in honor of one of our original game officials, David Dickert from Tennessee, who we lost to esophageal cancer too soon. Winners of the Boys Youth, Boys HS Club, Men’s Open, and Men’s Masters will be the first to have their team names perma-nently enshrined on this prestigious award! Share as we continue to recognize all that have been affected and lost loved ones to this horrible disease, cancer. Find a cure!
