    AUSTRIAN Technik, the TechnicalOperations organisation of AustrianAirlines, has recently received FAAapproval as the rst EuropeanEASA Part 145 organisation tohave completed the appropriateauthority approvals and operationalimplementation of electronicsignature in AMOS from Swiss-AS,and is now allowed to use theAMOS e-signature in the contextof FAA Form 8130-3. In addition,the usage of the AMOS e-signature

    solution at Austrian Technik hasbeen approved for EASA Form 1

    (double release) by Austro ControlGmbH, the o cial Austrian civilaviation agency.

    As with a normal signature onpaper, an electronic signatureindicates agreement with thecontents of an electronic message ina paperless process. Every printoutcan be signed and stored as PDF/A. There are two electronic signatureoptions in AMOS: external andinternal. The external procedure involves

    services of a 3rd party provider.Within AMOS, a PDF is generated

    and sent to the external signingsoftware via a web service. Asmartcard or signature pad is usedto sign the data; later, a PDF sheetcan be stored in an external archive

    linked to AMOS. The internal approach is entirely

    processed within AMOS - a PDF iscreated and the process of signingis handled only in AMOS. Thesigning can be performed, eitherwith o cial certi cates orderedat a Certi cate Authority, or byusing AMOS internally generatedcerti cates. The location for archivingthe le can also be varied.

    Austrian Technik is using theexternal e-signature option fromSwiss-AS which includes a 3rdparty company via interface which

    provides the a liated services andthe necessary hardware.

Job Card Generator dynamicallycreates up-to-date, self-contained job cards with allrelevant information needed to complete a repair. The latest parts and service information is

    automatically loaded into inventory, logistics,con guration management and maintenanceplanning systems.

    traditional enterprise software solution, on acompanys premises, or as an o -site hosted(SaaS) solution and is the only service and parts

AMOS from Swiss-AS was already being used in AlitaliaExpress, while the larger part of the eet was being managed by Alitalia ITsin-house MEMIS.     After just 15 months of project work, Alitalia launched AMOS M&E systemin April 2011, enterprise-wide and with a Big Bang approach all softwaremodules went simultaneously live. The smooth Go-Live with zero operationalimpact was actively supported by Swiss-AS.

    A major challenge for this project was the creation of new processes suitablefor the four formerly independent airlines which comprise todays Alitalia. Otherchallenges were handled together with Alitalia IT to correctly map and transferdata from di erent sources and incorporate them into AMOS. Two main factorssupported success. The rst was having a project team on the customers sidethat was fully committed and had the will, time and know-how to implementmultifaceted MRO software. The second was the decision to put AMOS intooperation with a limited number of customisations. During the project, morethan 1,000 users had to get to know AMOS. Alitalia opted for the train thetrainer concept using in-house trainers trained by Swiss-AS and even taking aroad show to train outstations worldwide. The Italian ag carrier has built up an AMOS Competence Centre that

    performs 1st level support for the internal AMOS users using the vast in-

    house know-how gained during the implementation. In addition, Alitaliarelies on Swiss-AS AMOS Operation Services (AOS).

    Air France Industries KLM Engineeringand Maintenance Sign EnterpriseAgreement with Enigma SoftwareIN February 2011, Enigma Inc. announced that Air France Industries KLM Engineering andMaintenance (AFI KLM E&M) is upgrading and expanding their Enigma implementationto the Enigma 3C InService MRO solution to improve maintenance in its aircraftmaintenance, engine services and components shop divisions.

    Since their merger in May 2004, Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have becomethe largest European airline group with a combined eet of over 600 aircraft enablingthem to y 2,500 daily ights to 236 destinations worldwide. The corporate-wide license agreement allows Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

    to use Enigmas InService MRO and Revision Manager solutions to support publishing andmanagement of all technical content. Over the past seven years, AFI KLM E&M implementeda highly customized solution based on the Enigma 3C Platform and had also implementedEnigmas InService Revision Manager to help compare and reconcile documentation changesfrom Boeing and Airbus, with changes made by AFI KLM E&M, resulting in a 10% reduction inaircraft maintenance IT costs and the company expects Enigma InService MRO and RevisionManager to deliver further savings. As a long-term customer, AFI KLM E&M recognized the
