2 • Arts Picnic 2011
WELComEto the 2011 Arts Picnic! We invite you to celebrate the 33rd festival anniversary whether you’re three or eighty-three. Balloon artists, face painting, fun art proj-ects and magic shows will do the trick if you’re three. If eighty-three, you’ll probably enjoy the beautiful artwork, one-of-a-kind crafts, fresh squeezed lemonade and perhaps the jazz or big swing band. Don’t worry, there’s plenty for all the in-between ages, too. In addition to strolling through wonderful arts & crafts booths, there’s rock, soul, honky-tonk and even a little Santa-na on two stages, plus a food court full of tasty treats including Greek, Mexican, Italian and award winning BBQ not to mention a beer garden strategically situated close to the Center Stage…Well, you get the idea. There is literally something for everyone at the Arts Picnic! Because of the diligent work of over 100 vol-
unteers, the Arts Picnic has grown from a day in the park with a hand-ful of arts and crafts booths, a few kids activities, a couple of perform-ing groups plus a small number of non-profi t organizations selling food into a wonderfully exciting region-al/national event attracting artists and crafters from all over the United States. The festival now showcases the best local and regional perform-ers the state has to offer. As always, we are fortunate to have Historic Lincoln Park as the backdrop for the festival. This beautiful setting truly enhances the community spirit that is felt throughout the weekend as “picnicers,” both fi rst-time and sea-soned veterans alike, breathe it all in and enjoy shopping, eating and last but not least, kickin’ up their heels!

Whether performing for the President of the United States in Wash-ington, DC, for major league sports franchises, for VIP parties catering to Hollywood elite, or for socialite brides across the country - Funkip-hino has the energy and talent to bring a party to life. Funkiphino is a hugely popular and in-demand horn band. The 12 members of the high energy funk band infuse explosive horn lines, old-school Hammond organ sounds, and pumpin’ bass with their intoxicat-ing vocals and slammin’ harmonies.
When it comes to large public events, festivals and concerts, Funkip-hino have also solidifi ed a legion of loyal fans. Crowds are drawn to the band, making them a popular concert and fes-tival ticket. Funkiphino also pro-duces and performs their own original music. Choice musicianship as well as artful songwriting are prevalent on their two original CDs. The all-star members of Funkiphino have created a unique, intelligent, funk-injected, musical niche.
