SPORTS MEDICINEComprehensive medical careis coordinated for all Bobcatstudent-athletes under thedirection of a team physicianand a staff of nationally certi-fied and state licensed athletictrainers. Undergraduate stu-dent interns from the athletictraining education programassist the professional staff intheir duties while gainingvaluable hands-on experiencein the allied healthcare field. With a physician referral, thestaff is also available to treatGeorgia College faculty, staff, and students for their outpa-tient rehabilitation.

(Panama City, Fla.) has the skillsetto make an immediate impact in thescoring game. An imposing figure at 5-foot-10, Padula poured in 11 goals forthe Senators in her freshman season, and has battled back from injuries tojoin her former coach at GC.

JUNIORS

Outstanding defender Jamie Colcord(Marietta, Ga.) returns for her thirdseason as a starter, leading an experi-enced bunch of juniors. Colcord is “oneof our best defenders. She can 1v1defend, she’s strong in the air andneeds to utilize her speed more to getinto the attack.”

Dixie Robinson (Conyers, Ga.) joins the team as the sec-ond of three transfers from AUM. An all-conference first teamhonoree as a sophomore, Robinson will bolster the defensiveline if she can recover from an injury. “She has spent in essencea year and a half away from soccer,” said Clark. “Look for her toanchor the back line with her speed and strength in the air.”

Forward Haley O’Hayer (Savannah, Ga.) returns withgreat vocal leadership skills, speed athleticism and work rate. She netted her first career goal last year.

A “tremendous student-athlete”, Olivia Holden (Fishers,Ind.)will take her talents back to the midfield, as a knowledge-able player, one of the more fit individuals on the soccer team.

Leah Frazer (Mississauga, Ontario) has two years of eligi-bility left after an injury red-shirt in 2010. Boasting a“powerful leg that can finishfrom a distance” Frazer hopesto regain the form from herfreshman season, a year thatsaw her tally a pair of assistsin 17 starts.

SOPHOMORES

Brittaney Borror (Evans,Ga.) is a talented scorer, leading GC a season ago inboth points (13) and assists(5). “Brittaney is a tremen-dous asset for the team,” saidClark. “She is strong bothphysically and in her goal-

Now taking the reins for her second sea-son as head coach of the Georgia Collegesoccer program, Hope Clark has astrong core of 11 returning players, including a pair of All-Peach BeltConference (PBC) selections, withnumerous starts and plenty of experi-ence. Add in a whopping 14 newcomersto the Bobcat roster, and the preseasonwill be full of healthy competition fornearly every spot on the field.

“The style of soccer won’t change much,”reveals Clark. “We’re still going to bevery possession-oriented and attacking-minded. The new crop of players hashelped strengthen us in all aspects. We’ve gotten more athletic and bigger insize as well as number.”

A quality group of student-athletes on and off the field, the abil-ity to bring the two groups together, and quickly, will be animportant factor of the preseason.

“Team chemistry will be key,” said Clark. “We need them to geland gel quickly as we start out with tough opponents rightaway.”

SENIORS

Midfielder Karen Bonilla (Manassas, Va.) is a two-time All-PBC selection, and will look to be a bit more of a factor in thescoring game this season. Savvy on the ball with solid distribu-tion skills, Bonilla will be called upon to put more points on theboard and to have a bigger impact on the offense.

Tawny Moffat (PeachtreeCity, Ga.) has been a “strong-hold” on the back line for GC,as the former All-PBC selectionhas started 45 games cominginto the season. She is “knowl-edgeable, strong and a leaderon the back line” according toClark.

scoring ability. Her challenge is to broaden her game, tobecome more dynamic and versatile.”

Forward Alex Knight (Loganville, Ga.) has a tremen-dous motor. Knight (1g, 1a) is a “strong tactical player, whofinds seams well and is savvy on the ball.”

Midfielder Taylor Yee (Johns Creek, Ga.) had animpactful freshman season, showing considerable leader-ship skills and covering a lot of ground with exceptional fit-ness. Clark will need her to up her solid three goal, twoassist numbers from her rookie campaign.

Newcomer Susan Lotyczewski (Sharpsburg, Ga.)played one season for AUM, and was dominant on thedefensive line. Clark coached the defender in her youth soc-cer days, and likens her skill set to All-PBC honoree TawnyMoffat. Lotyczewski is “dominant in the air, and a strongvocal leader”.

Anna Barrow (St. Simons, Ga.) comes in with ninegames of action from 2010, and showed some growth in herfreshman year. A versatile player, she will battle in the mid-field picture this season.

Forward Allie Schechner (Wading River, N.Y.) hasexceptional strength and size, and good finish ability, agood skill set to battle in a crowded front line.

FRESHMEN

A 5-foot-9 rookie, Annie Stephens (Fayetteville, Ga.)will also challenge for the vacant goalkeeper spot. Clark hasknown Stephens since she was a 12 years old, serving as heryouth club coach. At 5-foot-10, Taylor Cornelius(Dacula, Ga.) has the right frame for goalkeeper, is“exceptional with her feet” and will compete for the startingspot. Michelle DeMaris (Suwanee, Ga.) had a greatrun with her North Gwinnett High team, advancing to thefinals. “A raw player with great athleticism and quickness”DeMaris has only been a goalkeeper for a short time and yethas a legitimate chance to start.

Defender Kelly O’Mahoney (Mandeville, La.) is thefirst GC recruit from Louisiana. An “all-around athlete”with a legacy of success in her soccer background,O’Mahoney is expected to start at an outside back spot.Marissa Medina (Sharpsburg, Ga.) is a strong, physi-cal defender. She will challenge on the back line with herability and physicality. A left-footed defender, KesslerMatheson (Martinez, Ga.) will become involved in the

defense right away, thanks to her savvy on the ball, good1v1 skills and increased speed.

Macon, Ga. native Lindsey Knott is a strong attackingmidfielder, with good size and field vision that can help theoffense switch the point of attack. Dubbed as “feisty” by herBobcat coach, Tatum O’Keefe (Buford, Ga.) has greatspeed and utilizes that to get in behind the back line from amidfield spot. Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.) hasspeed to go with a strong soccer background. Solid at“breaking down 1v1”, she will factor in at a midfield flank.

A healthy Erin Griffin (Lawrenceville, Ga.) would be agreat tool on the front line, as she brings strength in sizeand physicality. Playing for strong club teams, she has goalscoring ability, but battles back from a recent injury. AbbyDalton (Macon, Ga.) is an outstanding finisher. The for-ward utilizes her speed and strength to compete, puttingtogether a strong high school and club career, scoring 103goals in three high school seasons.

of the season came on the road, and GC posted a 0-3-3 mark. HaleyO’Hayer scored the lone goal of the regular-season stretch, helpingthe Bobcats to a tie at USC Aiken.

GC earned the fifth seed in the PBC Playoffs, traveling to NorthGeorgia. After getting in a 0-2 hole nearly 20 minutes into the secondhalf, Treat took over the game, netting goals at 73:56 and 76:01 to tiethe game at 2-2. After both overtimes proved fruitless, North Georgiawon in penalty kicks 6-5, ending the Bobcats’ season. Treat’s heroicsdidn’t go unnoticed, as the senior was picked to the PBC All-Tournament team.

BONILLA NABS SECOND ALL-PBC HONOR, SIX EARNSPOTS ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMJunior midfielder Karen Bonilla was selected to the All-PBC teamfor the second time in her career, adding second-team accolades to herfirst-team slot as a freshman.

Seniors Jessica Binkowski, Plunkett and Treat all took a spot on thePBC All-Academic Team. Classmate Jessica Newland joined McAlpinand Wierzbicki as honorable mentions. Binkowski and Treat were alsoESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academci All-District honorees.

Bobcat soccer fought to a 7-7-3 overall record, taking fifth in the PeachBelt Conference (PBC) at 4-4-2 in league play. The season did end thethree-year stretch of double digit wins for Georgia College, but contin-ued a four-year run without a losing record.

The season was highlighted by a pair of wins over nationally-rankedsquads, including the highest-ranked upset in program history. GC’sseniors welcomed their third head coach in their four seasons in HopeClark, and relied on a stingy defense to go with some talented rookieson the scoring front.

BOBCATS START SEASON WITH LONG TRIP, PAIR OFTOUGH LOSSESTaking on two incredibly-tough non-conference opponents to start theseason, the Bobcats traveled to Boca Raton, Fla., the longest trip of theseason. GC dropped a 2-1 decision to Florida Southern and was blankedby the host Lynn squad. The second half proved to be GC’s downfall inboth games, as all five goals on the weekend came in the second stanza.Freshman Katie Taylor netted the first goal of the 2010 season, put-ting GC up at the half of the FSC game 1-0.

ROOKIES SHINE IN FIRST WIN OF SEASONFreshman Taylor Yee and Alex Knight joined Taylor in netting goalsin the 3-0 rout of Anderson at home, the first win of the season for GC.Fellow rookie Brittaney Borror had a pair of assists in the game as well.

GC FINISHES ‘BOBCAT SHOOTOUT’ WITH WIN OVER #13FLORIDA TECHA second-half goal by senior Ally Treat was enough to give GC soccera 1-0 upset victory over No. 13 Florida Tech in day two of the SecondAnnual Bobcat Shootout. In the first half, the Panthers dominated pos-session, keeping the ball on the Bobcats' side of the field. Florida Techoutshot Georgia College 17-4 in the first 45 minutes of play. Five andhalf minutes into the second frame, Treat netted her first goal of hersenior season off a 1-2 combo assist from Anna Wierzbicki andTaylor off a corner kick.

Goalkeeper Mary Rob Plunkett earned her 10th career PBC Goalkeeperof the Week honor for blanking the Panthers, recording six saves.

GEORGIA COLLEGE RATTLES OFF FIVE-GAME WINSTREAK, INCLUDING FOUR PBC VICTORIESThe Bobcats hit their stride late September, starting with a 3-0 win tostart conference play over Georgia Southwestern. The Bobcats then beatWest Georgia 4-0 in a non-conference battle before besting Lander 2-1,eventual PBC Tournament champion Armstrong 2-1 and a 4-1 defeat ofClayton State.

The victory over AASU was the biggest win of the season, and one of thebiggest in program history. GC had never beaten the Pirates before inwomen’s soccer, and with AASU coming in as the No. 8, it was also thehighest-ranked team Bobcat soccer had ever beaten.

Over the stretch, Borror had four goals, Taylor netted three, andMegan McAlpin, Kayla Emerson and Wierzbicki each had a pair.Borror was named PBC Player of the Week Oct. 12, recording two goalsand an assist over the games with AASU and Clayton State.

LATE SEASON SLUMPThe win over Clayton State would unfortunately be the last for GC soc-cer, as the end of the season wasn’t kind. Six of the final seven contests

Now entering its 22nd year of existence in 2011-12, the PeachBelt Conference has become one of the elite Division II conferencesin the nation. Since its inception in 1990-91, the Peach Belt has devel-oped a consistent history of excellence which continues to this daywith 28 national championships and 25 national finalist

Starting with only two championships in 1991, in men’s andwomen’s basketball, the conference has expanded to 13 champi-onship sports with the addition of women’s golf in the fall of 2009.

The conference traces its roots back to November of 1988when 11 schools first met in Greenville, S.C. to form a Division IIconference. Following a second meeting on Dec. 3, 1989, five ofthose 11 schools, plus two others, formed the Peach Belt andbegin play in fall 1990.

The Peach Belt was less than a year old before capturing anational championship. The Columbus State golf team took thehonor by winning the 1992 national crown, the first of three golfchampionships the Cougars own. One year later, the Landermen's tennis team began their record-breaking run of eightstraight national titles, the first PBC dynasty. Since then, USCAmen's golf has won three straight national titles from 2004-06while AASU women's tennis has captured four titles overall.

The 2008-09 season was among the conference’s most memo-rable. The Armstrong Atlantic State men’s and women’s tennis teamsboth won their respective national championships – for the secondyear in a row; a feat only done once before in college tennis. In addi-tion, the Augusta State men’s basketball team became the first con-ference program to make back-to-back trips to the NCAA Elite Eight,Armstrong Atlantic became the first PBC volleyball team ever to

advance to the Elite Eight and the North Georgia softball team wasranked #1 in the nation and reached the World Series.

The seven charter members of the conference were ArmstrongAtlantic State University, Columbus State University, Francis MarionUniversity, Georgia College & State University, Lander University,USC Aiken and USC Upstate. The name Peach Belt AthleticConference was adopted in January of 1990 and modified to PeachBelt Conference in May of 2000.

Augusta State joined the conference in 1991 and UNC Pembrokebecame the ninth member on July 1, 1992. They were followed byKennesaw State University on July 1, 1994, Clayton State Universityon July 1, 1995 and the University of North Florida on July 1, 1997.Kennesaw State and North Florida departed for the Division I ranksin 2005, USC Upstate did the same in 2007, and the conference wel-comed in North Georgia College & State University in 2005 andGeorgia Southwestern State University in 2006.

For 2009-10, the Peach Belt has grown once again with the addi-tion of the University of Montevallo and Flagler College, giving thePBC 13 members, the most the league has ever had. The addition ofthe two schools returns the PBC to the state of Florida and expandsthe league into Alabama for the first time.

David Brunk was named the second PBC commissioner in Mayof 2007. Brunk replaced Marvin Vanover, who was the first PBC com-missioner from 1991 to 2007. Brunk is charged with continuing thestrong growth of the conference as its second era begins.

The conference currently holds championships in 13 sports, sixfor men and seven for women.

Vision Statement

The Peach Belt Conference is committed to providing through its dependent collegiate members, a forum for student participa-tion in athletic, academic, and co-curricular events under the auspices of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Division II.

We will exemplify the characteristics of a premier intercollegiate conference that prides itself on the inclusion of students of alldemographic groups who wish to participate in a well-rounded sports program. Our institutions, our academic goals, our athleticaspirations reflect a commonality of purpose and a commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the playing field.
