To Face New OpponentsMiddleton Coach, Craig Harris is gearing up for his second season of football as Head Coach. "I'm enthusiastic about this season, we're facing several new teams this year. Added to our district, 15-A, is Faulkner, Tupelo Christian, Potts Camp and Tipton Rosemark. These are teams we haven't faced before, so it will be a challenge. We are going to be a young team again this year, but we are more experienced and hopefully that will be an advantage for us."The Tigers played Falkner for the first time ever during their first game of the season. They had a tough loss, but the stands were packed with Tiger fans showing their Tiger pride. Assistant coaches are Scott Wilbanks is Defensive Coordinator again this year, he is also head baseball coach, a position he has held for 14 years. De-fensive line coach is Jeff Kennemore and James Davis and Moss Gay. Coach Harris also coaches Middle School along with Assistant coach Ross Gaye. "So far this season the fans have showed us great support and we aske that they keep it up and continue to support their Middleton Tigers, Coach Harris added.

Starting the season off to a good start winning their first game against Fayette-Academy, Bolivar Central High football coach, Keith Perry, hopes to keep up the momentum to ensure a successful sea-son.

“Our players really ride the wave of how the first few games turn out,” said Coach Perry. “If we start off winning, they ride that wave; if we start off los-ing, unfortunately they ride that wave too.”

Coach Perry knows from experience, as he contin-ues his 8th year as head coach of the BCH football team. Perry’s experience, along with seventeen returning seniors, many of which are standouts on the squad, should assist the football team in a win-ning season.

Among the returning seniors are Fredrel Cross, Dustin Baker, Dustin Baker, Fabian Sain, Dennis Harris, and John Mayfield. “We have a lot of expe-rienced players this season. We’re just lacking depth,” said Perry regarding the strength of the team.

Still, Perry is confident in the team acknowledging

the amount of preparation they put in to prepare for the season. “We began practicing in November of last year. We were in the weight room all summer and have more strength to show for it,” said Perry.

Since the season has started, the preparation for each game still continues as the team watches film on Mondays, and practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, before their game days on Fridays.

As BCH football continues the season, with three new teams to play (Fayette-Academy, Adamsville, Corinth), the team understands that everyone has to work together and put in hard work. A few players are even playing dual positions, both offense and defense.

“We try to keep all the players fresh, but a couple of players are playing both offense and defense,” said Coach Perry. Among these dual position start-ers are Fabian Sain, Fredrel Cross, Mason Ross, and Dennis Harris .

Although some players are putting in extra work, the entire team understands the importance of team-work and is hoping for a productive season.

“The first couple of games determine how the season will go. Our first game against Fayette-Academy was a good one, so we’re hoping for a successful season,” said Coach Perry. “The next few games will give us a better idea of how well the season will go.”
