FN M3P CAPABILITIES

The FN M3P is a .50 caliber (12.7x99mm)single barrel rapid fire machine gunoptimized for remote firing from rotary-wing aircraft, ground vehicles and navalcraft and provides both offensive anddefensive firepower ranging out to nearly2000 meters. The FN M3P, when used invarious applications, is able to engage and

destroy soft skinned and light armoredvehicles as well as provide suppressingfire against both ground and aerial threats.Additionally, the FN M3P is suitable forapplications in remote weapon stationsand is able to fire at all elevations up to90 degrees from horizontal.

Features unique to the FN M3P are the28V electrical interfaces that allow remotefiring, cocking and clearing of the weaponsystem as well as allowing the operatorto remotely place the weapon on safe.Depending on configuration, the FN M3Pcan be mounted in pods or without thepod casing, also it can be mounted onFN’s deFNderTM Medium.

SCAR™ SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Since its adoption of the AR15 by the U.S. Air Force in 1962,and by the U.S. Army in 1964, the basic individual militaryweapon of the United States has demonstrated certaincompromises inherent in its design and cycle of operation.

Foremost among these compromises is the direct-gasimpingement operation system. During the firing andejection cycles, substantial amounts of carbon and otherby-products of cartridge combustion are routed directlyinto the bolt and receiver areas, causing increased fouling.Naturally, this increased fouling results in reduced operating

reliability and requires greater frequency of cleaning andother maintenance by the weapon operator.

Responding to concerns from special operators in combatregarding the reliability, accuracy, safety and ergonomicsof the current platform, the Naval Surface Warfare Center,

Crane, began an investigation of potential improvements.In the years that followed the U.S. Government conducted an

Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to determine if enhancementsor upgrades could be made to the existing platform, orif a new weapon was needed. It was determined that anew, more reliable and more adaptable individual weaponwas required.

In late 2003, the Joint Operational Requirements Documentfor a new combat assault rifle was approved and signed;the following January, a worldwide solicitation was issuedto the military firearms industry.

In July 2004, in a full and open competition, nine vendors

submitted twelve different designs for the three newweapon systems. Unlike the competition, FN delivereda new weapon built to the operator’s requirements—notadapted to them. The FN SCAR™ submission passed allof the GO/NO-GO criteria and was unanimously chosen

by the selection board composed of senior SOF operatorsrepresenting every selection component. In November of

the same year, FN was awarded the full SCAR ™ contractfor both 5.56mm and 7.62mm rifles, along with the 40mmEnhanced Grenade Launcher Module (EGLM).

Developmental testing by FN designers, engineers and

operators from various branches of the U.S. Military toevaluate the new weapons’ endurance, reliability andaccuracy was conducted from August 2005 through

January 2006. Four Early User Assessments were alsoconducted prior to, during and after the developmentaltesting process to integrate operator feedback i nto the final

SCAR™ design.

Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and ProductionAcceptance Test and Evaluations were conducted from May2006 through June of 2007. Beginning in August 2007,the Initial Operational Test and Evaluation phase was

conducted by various units of the U.S. Military community,including the U.S. Army Rangers, U.S. Marine Corps Special

The FN Fire Control Unit (FCU) is an advancedsight designed for use with the 40mm MK 13MOD 0 (EGLM). The FCU provides a first roundon target hit ratio of 80%. The FCU is primarilydesigned to be used with Medium Velocity 40mmgrenades; however, all Low Velocity 40mmgrenades are compatible as well. The FCUis equipped with a Moving Red Aiming Sight(MRAS) and is compatible with the NSN scopes

and iron sights of the MK 16 MOD 0 / MK 17MOD 0. The FCU is also equipped with a LaserRangefinder (LRF), Infrared (IR) Laser Pointer,and Visible Laser Pointer (co-aligned with theLRF and IR Pointer).

The FCU LRF is capable of ranging targets from40m to 900m day and night. It contains anonboard Ballistic Computer (BC), programmable

by the operator, for up to 50 different types of40mm grenades; the ballistic solutions from thecomputer take into account and compensatefor the initial vertical angle of the target, thusenhancing first round on target capability. TheFCU is operable by an external trigger or by aremote trigger.

FN SCAR™ FAMILY

Bridging the gap between the individual soldier’sclosed-bolt assault rifle and the crew-servedopen-bolt machine gun is the FN HAMR (HeatAdaptive Modular Rifle). The FN HAMR representsnothing less than a revolutionary leap in thetechnology of infantry automatic weapons.

With today’s highly-mobile, fluid and unpredictableconflicts, the need for a versatile, reliable, high-rate-of-fire automatic weapon at the infantrysquad level has never been greater.

Historically infantry automatic weapons havebeen defined by their cycle of operation; firingfrom either a closed-bolt or open-bolt.

Closed-bolt automatic rifle designs offer individual

portability, greater accuracy and enhancedfirst-round reliability, but their fixed barrelsretain heat during extended firing, quicklyleading to the hazard of a chambered roundoverheating and cooking-off, which endangersboth the operator and surrounding troops.

Open-bolt designs are often crew-servedweapons that offer higher rates of sustainedfire along with the ability to change barrels toprevent cook-offs, but to do so at the expense ofreduced portability and less accuracy.

The FN HAMR is designed to operate in either theclosed-bolt mode or the open-bolt mode, usinga dual-mode firing mechanism that gauges thebarrel temperature.

Switching from one mode to the other isautomatically performed by the thermal actuatorlocated under the barrel just forward of thechamber.

This allows the FN HAMR to instantly transitionfrom closed-bolt mode to open-bolt mode andcontinue to operate safely even when barreltemperature has reached the cook-off point.

When firing stops and the barrel cools, thethermal actuator self-resets and the FN HAMRswitches back to the closed-bolt mode, allwithout manual intervention of the operator.

Closed-bolt accuracy and open-bolt firepower inone weapon are now a reality with the FN HAMR.

The FN FNS is the result of four years of precise engineeringand innovative product development, all with the intent ofbringing the most highly advanced striker-fired pistol possible tothe American law enforcement and personal defense markets.A quality circle of more than twelve distinguished handgunexperts were assembled to evaluate the existing crop ofstriker-fired pistols and establish just what was needed to takethe FN FNS design to the next level. No corners were cut and nostone was left unturned to make the FN FNS the striker-firedpistol of the future. Here’s what separates the all-new FN FNSfrom the competition.

The FN FNS striker-fired design is a true double-action, activatedby a pivoting hinged trigger that has an exceptionally crisp breakand a short travel to reset. The angle and position of the finger

on the trigger has been optimized for greater leverage to offermore precise control of the shot.

The grip angle and subtle contours of the matte black polymerframe combine to create the most natural pointability ofany modern duty pistol. Four interchangeable backstrapscustomize the grip shape to perfectly fit any hand. The entire

frame has been redesigned to create the best bore axis ratiopossible. This low-bore axis places the web of the firing handhigher on the grip to reduce felt recoil to an absolute minimum.Precise shots with even the heaviest loads are remarkably easy.The FN FNS also has a sleek design that is perfect for concealedcarry purposes when it matters most.

Simplicity of operation is the hallmark of the new FN FNS.The fully-ambidextrous controls are shaped for easy accesswithout snagging on holsters or clothing. The contouredframe-mounted manual safety is ideally placed for positiveoperation by either thumb. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe FNH USA National Training Team is committed toproviding quality comprehensive instruction for all FNHUSAfirearms andlesslethalproducts.Thelaw enforcement,corrections, and security communities have access totraining courses for less lethal, armorer and instructor.

All FNH USA training courses combine student involvedlearning, practical performance requirements, and writtenexaminations for an innovative and valuable learningexperience. Enrollment in courses offered by FNH USAis catered to law enforcement, corrections and privatesecurity communities. Qualified civilian professionals areeligible for some courses through special arrangements.

Instructor courses are designed to take seasonedoperators from the position of a team member to anactive team leader. Comprehensive instructor developmentprograms are designed to ensure the instructor ispresenting material in a concise and comprehensiveformat followed by compliance with vertical performancestandards and written testing. Many classes involvelong hours and are physically demanding..All classes are conducted off-site at a host agency orone of FNH USA’s training hubs. Please Note: All courses are conducted in English andall students should be able to understand and speakEnglish adequately. The FNH USA National Training Team offers a widevariety of courses for FN products.

TUITION PAYMENTTuition due must be paid in full to FNH USA at least 10days prior to the first day of the course unless specific

prior arrangements have been made with FNH USA at thetime of registration. Payment may be made by credit ca rd

(VISA® or Master Card® only), money order or check made

payable to FNH USA, LLC. Cash payments and departmentpurchase orders for tuition will not be accepted. Send

tuition payments to the attention of Ann Ringenberg at

the FNH USA National Training Team address below.

DRESSStudents should wear either BDU or tactical-type pants

and comfortable boots that support the ankles for allrange and classroom instruction. Clothing suitable

for adverse weather conditions is also advised for allrange work. Full wraparound eye protection, hearing

protection, and baseball-style cap are mandatory for allfirearms courses and are the student’s responsibility.

ACCOMODATIONS AND TRAVELIt is the student’s responsibility to provide their traveland hotel accommodations. The FNH USA National

Training Team will coordinate with the host agencypoint of contact in providing the necessary

information to the student.

FNH USA ARMORER COURSESTraining aids and armorer tools may be provided to the student forclassroom use only. Instructional course work will be retained by the

national training cadre and reference materials will be purchased andretained by the student.

FNH USA LESS LETHAL INSTRUCTOR AND ARMORER COURSES

NET (New Equipment Training)/Operators CourseThe NET/Operators Course is designed to provide the user with a

fundamental working knowledge of the FN 303 Less Lethal Launcherand FN 303P Less Lethal Pistol, highlighting the features, values,

and benefits of each product. Training includes structured classroomtraining sessions with a written exam. Additionally operators must

successfully complete all mandatory performance requirementsassociated with the disassembly and assembly, malfunction

drills, and operational best practices of the FN 303 and FN 303P.The classroom session is supported by range training using

a 45-round dynamic target training program. This training programis directed towards the new equipment operator and less lethal

operators who are participating in compliance training forrecertification. Training will prepare the new equipment operator and

compliance certified operator for additional training at the armorer level.
