Never before has a small backpack fit so well – and only with a couple of adjustments. The back-length has 4 steps of adjustment. The 4 point shoulder straps adjust themselves to the correct angle at the hips and shoulders. The back pads are anatomically formed, yet will mould to your back. It is this level of individual fit that makes the pack so comfortable on the trail. Shoulder straps and back pads are highly ventilated, using special material to aid breathability. The pack’s main compartment includes an expanding feature (8 + 1.5 liters), a bladder compartment, two additional front external pockets, side pockets, an internal organizer and a mesh pocket on the hip strap.

BC3

The Backpack Motion System. Developed for Cyclists.Goodbye Gravity.Nobody really likes carrying a backpack... it is a necessity. It restricts your movement while the weight of the load has an undesired effect on your skeleton, muscles and posture. In a word, it is exhausting. People are dynamic and constantly moving. As you move, any load will be continually transferred to your body and your shoulders will have to move this weight, constantly putting your muscles under strain. The more active you are, the greater the effect. Lower capacity day packs, touring packs and backpacks for athletes are based on an outdated design which ignores the influence of dynamic movement on carrying comfort. As ergonomic specialists, our target is to make backpacks as comfortable as possible. Our revolutionary backpack design – a direct result of our exhaustive studies – allows the upper body to move freely and independantly from the load. The semi-rigid frame transfers the load lower, to the body’s center of gravity, and to a point where the back’s movement is minimal.

To achieve the desired freedom of movement for the upper body it was obvious that the shoulder harness system needed to be isolated from the load resulting in a brilliant and revolutionary solution. Using the central Flink® Link ball joint, in combination with a load bearing frame, Ergon has created a backpack featuring unequaled comfort and freedom of movement.

Bladder system for Ergon and non Ergon hydration backpacks. Made from an hygienic, FDA tested Polyurethane. The extremely robust material can be stretched up to 8 times its current length without ripping. The large opening allows easy filling and cleaning, as the entire bladder is reversible. The extra long, taste free hose is specially designed to match perfectly to the extra length required by Ergon backpacks. It features a 90 degree angled bite valve, preventing unwanted kinking. For cleaning and ease of use the hose has a plug and play connector, allowing its removal - this means that the bladder can be filled without removing the hose from your backpack. A major advantage over other systems. An integrated valve prevents liquid escaping when the hose is disconnected. Clip in compatibility with Ergon’s backpacks - the ultimate bladder for your Ergon Motion System.

BH200

Using the same construction and features as the smaller BH200 bladder the BH300 offers a greater capacity for longer rides. The same large opening and reversible construction allows easy cleaning and the detachable plug and play hose means that the bladder can be removed from the pack without unthreading the hose routing - a major advantage over other systems. A valve prevents liquid escaping when the hose is removed. Compatible with all Ergon backpacks (and recommended for the BC3) thanks to the built in hang clip.

In the last 100 years flat pedals have remained practically unchanged, perhaps surprising as they remain the point which transfers human power to the bike and ultimately the road. The position of the foot on the pedal influences your efficiency and has consequences for the muscle development and joints from hip to toe. The Ergon PC2 is the first non SPD-type pedal to have been designed with the ergonomic demands and the biomechanics of the user in mind. The result is impressive. A new type of pedal with a number of features which will increase power, comfort and help avoid aches and pains associated with traditional designs.

The founding principle is based on the comfort series grips of the P, R, and C ranges. The compact grip body used for the GX1, and GX2 has a wing form that is a lot slimmer than previous models. The diameter of the centre of the grip is also slimmed down makes it ideal for situations where constant hand position changes are required because of the varying terrain. The grip is made of a lightweight rubber and combined with the secure lightweight clamp the GX1 model is significantly lighter than our previous grips. The GX2 model is supplied with integrated magnesium or 100% carbon bar ends weighing as little as 34g. The GX is the cross country grip by which all others are judged.

Performance Comfort

Problem: Carpal tunnel syndrome causedby unnatural wrist angle

Solution: Natural wrist angle achievedby asymmetrical design of Ergon grip platform

Problem: Ulna nerve irritation

Solution:Ergon platform grips with 40% larger surface significantly minimizes pressure

Ergon GP, GC, GR and GX grips prevent numb fingers, painful hands and forearms – problems that many riders face. The cause of this is high pressure on the particularly sensitive areas of the palm and an incorrect hand position. Due to their anatomically optimal design, Ergon grips provide a contact surface of 100%. Regular grips only provide a contact surface of approximately 60%. With increased contact surface, pressure is especially

reduced in the area of the ulna nerve, thus decreasing the likelihood of numbness. Furthermore, the anatomic form of the Ergon Performance and Race Series grips corrects your hand position. An incorrect hand position and overloading of the median nerve (a leading cause of carpal tunnel syndrome) are impossible as long as the grip is mounted correctly.

110°148°

GP1 Ergon’s original and ground breaking GP1 continues to set standards. Offering optimal pressure distribution and available in two sizes, it features a forged aluminum clamp for fast and secure installation. Adjustment of the support platform is achieved by simply loosening the clamp bolt and positioning the grip to the desired neutral position.

The Size Difference

Small Large

Hand size: 8.5 - 10.5Hand size: 6.5 - 8.5

As hand size is different from person to person, Ergon manufacturers the GP, GC, GR, GS, GE and GA ranges in two sizes - Small and Large. This difference is in the diameter of the grip. The reason for this is that a larger hand is better able to grip a larger grip with less stress and effort. This is

the same in reverse for small grip. A smaller hand needs a smaller grip to allow the hand to close around it. Of course, this is all also down to personal preference. More information is available online at: www.ergon-bike.com

Choosing the correct grip.

One ‘do it all’ grip suitable for all types of riding simply isn’t possible. Just as different bikes are used for different disciplines, Ergon has designed grips to provide maximum control for all styles of riding. Our platform grips are perfect for leisure, cross country, and endurance

riding. However, for free-ride and very technical riding, a cylindrical design is a better choice allowing the rider to move around and get off the back of the bike as needed. Below is our suggested usage.

Performance Comfort

The new BioKork version of the GP1 provides ultimate ergonomics for the hand just as the rest of Ergon’s Performance Comfort series do, however the unique qualities of cork means that it is now antibacterial and hypoallergenic. Cork’s natural damping qualities also make it an ideal grip material, and its now density mean the resulting grip is a lot lighter. The GP1 BioKork uses 40% cork, sourced from sustainable forests in Portugal which is certified for its ecologically sound production. This ecological theme is continued throughout the rest of the grip. The inner core is plastic reinforced using natural fibre, which make up 40% of its mass. In place of mineral oil, the gel in the palm section of the grip is vegetable oil based. The clamp can also be 100% recycled. It is all a result of Ergon’s “GreenLab” initiative.

GP1 BioKork

Ergon’s GreenLab initiative is about combining the core principles of ergonomics and performance with ecologically aware practices.

Introduced in 2010, and for 2011, the GreenLab initiative has played an important role in the Ergon Development Department and the results of that can be seen starting with the innovations in the last two years. Ergon’s extensive grip assortment is now presented with completely reworked and re-invented packaging. This uses as little material as possible to achieve our aims, and much of the material used is recycled.

The sustainability of the packaging was a key factor, and that the packaging can be recycled after use, and uses as few components as possible, a priority – minimising the environmental impact. The result of this new packaging quest is so innovative that it has already won the coveted German DesignPlus packaging prize. A further example is the GP1, new GR2 BioKork and GC3 BioKork grips. Once again, it is Ergon setting the standards using the most innovative materials and technology to achieve our aims.

Using the Leichtbau rubber compound, increased damping and feedback are offered in the form of the GA1 Leichtbau. Hans Rey “No Way Rey”

“The GA1 is a phenomenal grip. It gives me the perfect feel for my bike and confidence in any situation. Ergon has perfected the art of making a mountain bike grip.“

Richie Schley “Schleyer”

“I ride a different bike daily from my R.E.D.DH bike in the Whistler bike park to my all mountain trail bike Rotwild R.E.D. 3 and find the grip so much superior because of it’s ergonomic feel. In wet conditions the shape gives me a better contact to the bars. The end clamps are my guide to the edge of my handle bar which gives me awareness to where my hand position is and security not to come off the bars. Try them out to feel the difference yourself.”

Ergon Factory Rider “EFR”

Downhill, Freeride, 4-Cross, Dirt, Enduro and Trials. Ergon employs competent riders in every discipline to gather feedback for R&D, be it through the use of pro riders, technical riding coaches, or just expert enthusiasts.

Performance Comfort

HC1The new Ergon HC1 is a short fingered glove, especially designed for use with the Performance Comfort series of grips. The glove features flexible yet robust mesh material for ventilation of the back of the hand. The thinly padded palm and fingers allows for increased feel and the benefits of Ergon grips not to be restricted. The ball of the hand has a slight increase in cushioning material for better pressure relief of this sensitive area.

HC2The new long fingered glove, the Ergon HC2 is again especially designed for use with the Performance Comfort series of grips. The glove features the same flexible yet robust mesh material as the HC1 for ventilation of the back of the hand. The thinly padded palm and fingers allows for increased feel and the benefits of Ergon grips not to be restricted. The ball of the hand has a slight increase in cushioning material for better pressure relief of this sensitive area. The fingers are slightly bent, even before the glove is put on, as on the bike the hand is usually closed. Through the clever placement of seams, they cannot be felt when wearing the glove.

There aren‘t many real Legends in the MTB scene, but Dave Wiens is one of the few. For over 20 years he has raced against, and quite often beaten the best in the World. A career that has seen him as the US National Champion twice, he has managed as well as raced for teams. His status was officially recognised in 2002 with his admission to the “Mountain Bike Hall of Fame”.

In 2009 the score was settled as Dave fought to win his seventh Leadville 100, against amongst others, Lance Armstrong (who he had beaten in 2008). Finishing second to Lance though is something only Alberto Contador can better! With Wiens’ experience his input to Ergon cannot be quantified.

Dave WiensMountainbike Legend

The two title sponsors are also busily engaged in the US racing scene and mountain biking in general. From the work of MTB Legend Dave Wiens, to top athletes in every discipline. Alongside the racing, Ergon’s Jeff Kerkove, Sonya Looney, Yuki Saito and Eddie and Namita O’Dea regularly organise demo events, product schooling, workshops, customer service, and event support. There are also other teams around the world who enjoy the support of Ergon products. From racers in Brazil to Great Britain, Australia to Denmark – Ergon supports and develops racing at the grass roots level.

No loss in power. The first ever tool for simple yet precise Installation of cleats On cycling shoes.

The critical interface. The energy that goes into cycling is transferred via the pedal, shoe and cleat. Ergonomics in this area plays a massive role. Without an ergonomic setup power and performance will be lost. Comfort will be compromised. Injury could result. Correctly installed cleats are noticeable from the first ride. The Ergon TP1 allows the accurate adjustment of the three axis which are important when installing cleats. The fore/aft position, the stance (Q-Factor) and the foot angle. It is simple, fast and effective.

The tool is completed by a small handbook. This is a guide to basic ergonomics of the foot and leg, the biomechanic consequences and a simple step by step manual for using the TP1. For expert users information is provided about maximising performance.

The crankbrother‘s Eggbeater pedal system is a favorite of many, and therefore we jumped at the chance of designing a TP1 for the specific needs of these users. Accurate, simple and precise cleat (re)placement is now possible.
