Avlite’s international distributors boarded 3 Piper Chieftains from a local airfield to Avalon Airshow 2011 on Sunday 6 March as they were officially welcomed to Avlite’s inaugural 2011 Distributor Conference. Taking in the fabulous views of the Mornington Peninsula and the beautiful Victorian Coastline along the way, Avlite was excited to host the welcome lunch at its exhibition stand at the Airshow, showcasing the most recent addition to its product line, the Avlite Solar Portable Airfield Lighting System (PALS) trailer . Officially opened on Monday 6 March, the conference began in earnest with an overview of what lay ahead - intense sales and product training, networking and the sharing of experiences over 3 days. The Avlite Journey - kicked off proceedings with a chronological look at the history of the company and the role of the distributor in working towards a bright and successful future together. The first factory tour ensued with a group session on Helipad Lighting. With a change of venue on Tuesday, distributors and the Avlite team travelled back to the local airfield for practical hands-on learning about Avlite’s runway, taxiway and barricade lighting, airfield cones, gables and windsock products, Avlite’s Area Light and the Apollo 155 Beacon and its programming. REILS, PAPI, and the SNC Eagle were covered by Aviation Renewables Corporation’s (ARC) Allister Wilmott and Sierra Nevada Corporation’s (SNC) Tom Colby. Wednesday’s session incorporated the second factory tour that focussed on obstruction lighting, PALS and a tutorial on Avlite’s Power Calculator followed by a quick session on marketing, and an engaging presentation by Eddie Lacina of Systems Interface - Avlite’s 2011 Distributor of the Year. Ending with the role of the distributor in relation to sales planning, delegates were given the chance to ask questions in an open forum - confirming that the conference had exceeded the expectations of distributors and Avlite staff alike. Conference participants, their partners and the Avlite team enjoyed the gala dinner at a beautiful local winery and were treated not only to award winning local wines, but also to expert guitar licks from SNC’s Tom Colby and Avlite’s very own Kenny Gardner. The Aussie BBQ at a local Moonlit Sanctuary was a favourite with Avlite’s international guests, who saw a variety of native Australian animals from Batongs, Wallabies and Dingos to Koala’s, the Tawny Frogmouth Owl, Sugar Gliders and Emus. The Avlite team enjoyed hosting the enthusiastic and diverse group of dedicated distributors from across the globe and look forward to doing so again in 2013. 2011 Avlite Distributor Conference exceeded expectations
