Planned GivingHave you considered a planned gift?

This is the time of year when most people are gathering financial documents from the previous year, in preparation for tax season. It is also a good time to review financial goals and accomplishments including wills and estate plans.

Is philanthropy a part of your estate plan? A “planned” or “legacy” gift is an excellent way to make a difference for an organization that has touched you or a member of your family. This type of giving can also provide flexible strategies for your charitable goals. Some planned gifts provide an income, some can reduce tax liability.

Your financial professional can review your goals and assets and help you decide what type of gift will best meet the philanthropic needs for you and your family. Estate gifts can include bequests, a charitable gift annuity, a charitable remainder trust, and life insurance. The greatest benefit of planned giving is in knowing that your support can make a lasting difference to an organization whose mission has touched your life.

Estate planning is not just for those individuals or families with large wealth. Every individual can make a difference, because every gift is an important one.

For information about giving to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation, please contact Peggy Hoggarth, (509) 737-3373 or [email protected].

Thank you From The Cancer Center Foundation DirectorThe year of 2011 was an exceptional and prosperous one for the Foundation. Just over $1 million was raised . Our signature fundraising events were successful and the generosity of corporate sponsors was exemplary. We also received some planned gifts from various estates during the year. This generous individual and corporate support allows the Cancer Center to continue to offer the various support services and programs that make the Center so unique.

For the past ten years it has been my privilege to serve on the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation Board of Directors. During that time our community has experienced unprecedented growth. The commitment of the Cancer Center to provide state-of-the-art treatment to local cancer patients has remained the same.

There have been many important milestones at the center and the Foundation since the doors opened in May of 1994. A significant Foundation milestone in 2011 was reaching the one million dollar mark in our fundraising and philanthropy efforts. Strategic focus, dedicated volunteers, professional staff, and enthusiastic community support helped the foundation reach this goal.

As we extend our thanks to the Tri-Cities community for this support, we look forward to the coming year and how this achievement can expand the support we offer to our community. Additional cancer screenings, increased enrollment in wellness programs and enhanced education opportunities are some of the ways that community donations will benefit local patients and families.

On behalf of the Foundation Board of Directors, I would like to thank the donors who have helped make the dreams of this community a reality. I wish you all a blessed 2012.
