Save One Life encourages individuals and organizations to focus theircompassion and resources on improving the quality of life of people with bleedingdisorders and their families in developing countries. In the past ten years Save OneLife has assisted over 1,000 beneficiaries with the generous help of sponsors in theUS, Canada, England, Sweden, Italy and Australia.
In 2011 Save One Life had its best year yet for sponsorship growth, with a37% increase in sponsors and a 32% increase in sponsorships. In all, 320sponsors provided over $195,000 to 900 beneficiaries.
A sponsorship is $20 a month; 100% is sent to overseas to pay for education,transportation to clinics, food, medicine and other basic life necessities. Up to15% is retained by program partners for outreach and services for their members. In addition tosponsorships, Save One Life collaborates with 40 program partners to fund hemophilia camps and ascholarship program. A micro-enterprise program is planned for 2012.

Decade of DedicationSave One Life celebrated its tenthanniversary at the Decade ofDedication Gala, which tookplace at the Willowdale Estate inTopsfield, Massachusetts onMay 12. Presented byOctapharma and generously
supported by FFF Enterprises,Pfizer, ASD Healthcare, Baxter Healthcare, CSLBehring and others, more than 150 guests gatheredto recognize our accomplishments and meetprogram partner representatives from India, Kenyaand Romania. Save One Life’s first endowmentaward was presented to Save One Life sponsorEileen Morrow for her gift of land valued at nearlyhalf a million dollars. Wolfgang Marguerre,chairman of Octapharma, received the 2012 Sponsorof the Year award and the Hemophilia Association ofthe Philippines-Cebu received the 2012 ProgramPartner of the Year award.
Kilimanjaro ChallengeSave One Life founder Laurie Kelley and daughterMary, BioRx president Eric Hill, his son Alex andemployees Jeff Salantai and Julie Winton, ASDpresident Neil Herson and his daughters Brittneyand Kelly and Kara Ryan traveled to Kenya andTanzania, for a fundraising climbing expedition.The team visited the Jose Memorial HaemophiliaSociety-Kenya in Nairobi, met Save One Lifebeneficiaries, and summited Africa’s highest peak,Mt. Kilimanjaro on August 10, raising over$66,000.
LeadUP!In collaboration with Bob Graham of the BleedingDisorder Advocacy Network and with funding fromOctapharma, Save One Life launched LeadUP!.This youth leadership development programprovides small revolving loans to high school andcollege-age students and youth groups to organizefundraising campaigns for Save One Life.
Expanded Board of DirectorsSave One Life expanded its board to 14 members.Welcome to Dr. Paul Giangrande from Oxford,England; Eric Hill from High Point, NC; DuttaSatadip from San Jose, CA; John Menapace fromNew York, NY; Chris Bombardier from Denver, CO;and Bonnie Jean Perkins from Boston, MA. Theboard held its first day-long retreat in December,establishing new key performance indicators to assureSave One Life’s continued growth and success.
