The Munich Symphony Orchestra makes its triumphant return to the McCain stage after its appearance in the 2005-2006 season. Under the direction of Philippe Entremont, the orchestra will perform Mozart’s “Requiem Mass in D minor” (K. 626) with the choir Gloria dei Cantores. Mozart’s “Requiem” is one of the most powerful and evocative works ever composed. Left unfinished at the time of Mozart’s death, the work is surrounded with much intrigue and controversy, most recently depicted in the movie “Amadeus.”

TicKeT informaTionTICKET EXCHANGES AND REFUNDSSubscribers may exchange tickets for those of equal or lesser value for a $2 service charge for each ticket exchanged (waived for Friends of McCain members at the Contributor level or higher). Subscribers may also upgrade their tickets by paying the difference in price (service charges apply). To exchange tickets, present them to the McCain box office at least two business days before the performance. Exchanges and upgrades are subject to availability.

Due to the nature of the performing arts, all artists, programs and dates are subject to change. Tickets are non-refundable, except in the case of a canceled performance.

TICKET FEESTicket fees help defray hardware and software costs required to provide a high level of customer service. The latest technology has been employed to ensure transactions are safe and secure. In the past, ticket fees and sales tax were assessed to the patron, but were included in the price of the ticket. Now, ticket fees and sales tax are not included in the price of the ticket. Patrons will now see exactly what they are purchasing with ticket prices, fees and sales tax clearly delineated on receipts as three separate items. Ticket prices have been adjusted accordingly.

Tickets purchased for the McCain Performance Series will be assessed a $1 per ticket facility surcharge. Tickets bought by telephone will be assessed a $1 transaction fee per ticket in addition to the facility surcharge. Tickets purchased over the Internet will assessed a $2.50 transaction fee per ticket in addition to the facility surcharge. Single tickets bought in person or by mail via the subscription form will not be charged a transaction fee per ticket but will still be charged the per ticket facility surcharge. Sales tax will be charged in addition to the ticket price and the associated fees. Patrons requesting their single ticket orders be mailed to them will be charged $2 per order in addition to any facility surcharge fees or transaction fees.

LOST TICKETSIf tickets are misplaced, the McCain box office will issue replacement tickets for $2 per ticket. Replacement tickets will not be issued earlier than one hour prior to curtain.

DOORS AND LATE SEATING Doors generally open 30 minutes prior to the performance start time. All events start promptly at the time listed on the ticket. Latecomers will be seated at the first appropriate pause in the program or at intermission, as determined soley by the artist and house staff.

CHILDREN AND CONTENTAs a courtesy to our patrons, we ask that children under the age of 6 not be brought to performances, except for those recommended for the entire family. Refer to the family friendly icon at the bottom of the text for our family friendly shows. Children brought to other shows should be able to sit quietly throughout the entire performance.

Infants on laps are only permitted at performances recommended for the entire family. All children, regardless of age, are required to have a ticket, even infants on laps. Disruptive children (as determined solely by house staff) and their parents will be asked to leave the auditorium, even from shows recommended for the entire family.

Our staff can answer questions about the age-appropriateness or content of a show. However, you must ultimately be responsible for determining whether a show’s content is appropriate for you and your family.

The K-State parking garage, located on the corner of Anderson Avenue and 17th Street, offers convenient parking. Fees for the garage are $1.50 per hour and $12 max per day and are charged 24 hours a day. Handicap parking is available in the K-State parking garage and is charged at the same rate as other stalls. McCain Auditorium is not responsible for metered stalls on Goldstein Circle and cannot guarantee their availability.

To honor that continued legacy, McCain Auditorium is hosting the second annual McCain Student Showcase. The showcase will be a collage of several juried performances from students from the K-State music, theatre and dance programs. CAMPUS CONNECTIONSSelect artists presented by the McCain Performance Series will visit campus classrooms and other locations to connect with students in informal settings. Campus Connections encourages dialogue and extends opportunities for K-State students to deepen learning unique to their fields or to discover issues beyond their classroom curriculum.

FREE STUDENT MATINEES School matinee performances provide pre-college students live arts education experiences free of charge at McCain Auditorium. These performances are designed to nurture a life-long appreciation of the performing arts. Teachers receive in depth study guides that provide a curriculum context enhancing the experience.

This season, students will be invited to McCain for a daytime performance of the “The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and The Hare” on Feb. 3, 2012.These two well-known underdog classics will be brought to life with a cutting edge blend of puppetry, technology and dance with visually dazzling life-size puppets that glow in the dark with electroluminescent wires. Each story will feature classical and contemporary music ranging from jazz to pop. Mother duck knew from the very beginning that one of her babies would be different from the rest ... this egg was too large and oddly shaped! Upon hatching it is clear — mother duck has an Ugly Duckling. Teased, chased and pushed aside from his friends and family, Ugly Duckling must run away from the pond and venture out on his own. Through the different seasons and new friends along the way, he continues his search for others who will love him for who he really is … an Ugly Duckling? “The Ugly Duckling” is a beloved story about personal transformation and acceptance. The famous story of the race between the tortoise and the hare is best known today for teaching the moral that “slow and steady wins the race.”
