7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14An exhilarating kaleidoscope of sight and sound.

Young, hip and brimming with infectious energy, Yamato brings the ancient art of taiko drumming up to date in an invigorating display of talent and athleticism. Taiko drumming is a physical and musical spectacle. The drums can measure up to six feet across, requiring powerful stamina to play. Yamato’s performers display their breathtaking virtuosity on 20 drums, varying from huge barrel-like odaikos (enormous taiko drums) to hand-held instruments. With exquisite bronze cymbals, vocals and bamboo flutes, Yamato creates a cultural and spiritual tone that connects the performers with the audience. The performers believe the drumbeat, like the heartbeat, is the very pulse of life. Yamato’s drumbeats will bond the beating of your heart with the rhythm of your spirit.

4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30 Featuring Philippe Entremont and Gloria dei Cantores.

The Munich Symphony Orchestra makes its triumphant return to the McCain stage after its appearance in the 2005-2006 season. Under the direction of Philippe Entremont, the orchestra will perform Mozart’s “Requiem Mass in D minor” (K. 626) with the choir Gloria dei Cantores. Mozart’s “Requiem” is one of the most powerful and evocative works ever composed. Left unfinished at the time of Mozart’s death, the work is surrounded with much intrigue and controversy, most recently depicted in the movie “Amadeus.”

The Celtic Tenors is the most successful classical crossover group ever to emerge from Ireland. The unique voices, charm and wit of Daryl Simpson, James Nelson and Matthew Gilsenan combine an emotive journey with a thoroughly uplifting experience.

“Three separately and distinctive classically-trained tenors, who when they come together, they are a superbly flawless unit. They combine the high standards of operatic singing with a delightfully informal sense of fun.” — The Irish Examiner

7:30 p.m., Friday, March 2Shakepeare’s tragic tale of ambition, madness and chaos.

“Fair is foul and foul is fair” in Aquila Theatre’s rendering of the chaotic world of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” where nothing is as it seems and men combat their own madness and fates. The play centers on the victorious Scottish general Macbeth, who chances upon three mysterious witches in the forest during his journey home from war. The witches offer Macbeth an intriguing prophesy, tempting the skeptical man with the promise that he will one day become King of Scotland. Upon hearing the news, Lady Macbeth urges her husband into murderous action, and what follows is a wild and maddening descent into war, insanity and demons.

Each story will feature classical and contemporary music ranging from jazz to pop. Mother duck knew from the very beginning that one of her babies would be different from the rest ... this egg was too large and oddly shaped! Upon hatching it is clear — mother duck has an Ugly Duckling. Teased, chased and pushed aside from his friends and family, Ugly Duckling must run away from the pond and venture out on his own. Through the different seasons and new friends along the way, he continues his search for others who will love him for who he really is … an Ugly Duckling? “The Ugly Duckling” is a beloved story about personal transformation and acceptance. The famous story of the race between the tortoise and the hare is best known today for teaching the moral that “slow and steady wins the race.”
