DISTRICT-WIDE

ADMISSIONS AND ACADEMIC STANDARDS APPEALS COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: • Advise the College President and others as appropriate on District-wide policies, standards,

rules and regulations for residency, student admissions and academic standards.

• Serve as an appeals committee for student grievances concerning residency, admissions,

placement, overloads, grading, academic probation/suspension, graduation, professional

conduct, discrimination, etc.

1. The chief executive officer of the district shall appoint 1 or more review committees of 5 members each. 2. The chairman of each committee shall serve at the pleasure of the chief executive officer of the district and shall have voting privileges. A district classification representative designated pursuant to subsection (B)(4) of this rule shall not serve as a member of a review committee. 3. A majority of the committee membership must be present to review the tuition classification application and make a decision. 4. Any student who feels that his classification as a nonresident for tuition purposes is erroneous may request a review by a review committee. Such request shall be written, signed by the student, and accompanied by a sworn statement of all facts relative to the matter. The request for review must be filed with the admissions officer of the college within 10 days of receipt of notification of classification as a nonresident. Failure to properly file a request for review within the prescribed time limit constitutes a waiver of review for the current enrollment period. 5. Each review committee shall schedule meetings for review within a reasonable time after receipt of request for review and shall provide the student with written notice of the date, time and place of the meeting not later than 7 days prior to the meeting. Such notice may be made personally, or by certified mail to the most recent address listed by the student with the college. Meeting times shall not conflict with the student's class schedule whenever possible. 6. The student shall have the right to appear and may be represented by an advisor of his choice at his own expense. If the student, without valid excuse or authorization, fails to appear, the committee shall determine the matter on the basis of the evidence before it. The student or his advisor, but not both, may examine and cross-examine witnesses and summarize the evidence. 7. The decision of the review committee shall be final.


CONTINUING EDUCATION COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: • Advise the College President and others as appropriate on courses/curricula deemed

appropriate for extended day programs throughout Eastern Arizona College.

• Make recommendations regarding policies, procedures, rules and regulations regarding

continuing education.

FACILITIES COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: • Provide direction to the College President on the use of District facilities. The Committee

shall be charged with five primary responsibilities:

a] Reviewing and reaching a determination on requests for events that may qualify for co-

sponsorship by Eastern Arizona College.

b] Reviewing and reaching a determination regarding liability risk exposure on events that

may be co-sponsored by Eastern Arizona College. At the recommendation of the

Facilities Committee, a co-sponsored event may require insurance coverage in

compliance with Arizona Community College Board Rule R7-1-7-804.B.

c] Reviewing and reaching a determination on charges for events that do not reasonably

lend themselves to application of the Facility Charge Schedules.

d] Reviewing and reaching a determination on appeals to facility scheduling, the

application of the Facility Charge Schedules, and all requests for exceptions to

facilities guidelines, rules, charge schedules, etc.

e] Reviewing and recommending charges the District assesses for the use of its facilities.

FACULTY ASSOCIATION

PURPOSES: • To foster cooperation and communication among the faculty, administration, and governing

board.

• To promote collegiality, professionalism, and accountability among the faculty.

• To maintain and improve the quality of education at EAC through broad-based faculty

improvement.

• To advise the college president on matters of institutional practice and policy.

SCHEDULE: • Second Tuesday, 11:00 a.m.

MEMBERSHIP: All full-time faculty and division chairs. Part-time faculty is considered associate members.


FINANCIAL AID COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: • Advise the College President and others as appropriate on matters of student financial aid.

• Make recommendations on recipients of financial aid.

• Make recommendation on dissemination of financial aid information.

• Serve as in appellate body to provide review of the Financial Aid Office decisions

regarding student's eligibility, satisfactory progress, or aid awards.

MEDICAL AND LIFE INSURANCE COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: • Provide direction to the College President on all aspects of the District's medical and life

insurance coverage program for employees and dependents including:

consultant/employee advocate;

_ recommendations on directions to be provided to the District's insurance trustee;

_ recommendations on directions to be provided to the District's insurance administrator;

and

_ other District medical and life insurance coverage program needs as directed by the

College President.
