Widener competes in a state-of-the-art, 25-

meter by 25-yard pool with 10 lanes at Schwartz

Center.

The pool in 2008 received a major facelift with

the walls and ceiling painted, our new logo paint-

ed twice, new lane lines, new tile walls, regrout-

ing, filtering and a new air handler. New starting

blocks, touch pads and a public address system

were added in 2009.

A great place to see a meet, Schwartz Center

serves as a great home advantage and several times

has hosted the Middle Atlantic Conference Cham-

pionships.

Schwartz Center also serves as home for our

men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volley-

ball squads. The facility also is home to our Well-

ness Center, opened in 2006, and our field house.

ment. Dynamic teaching, active scholarship, personal attention, and experiential learning are key components of the Widener experience. The university provides a unique combination of liberal arts and professional education in a chal-lenging, scholarly, and culturally diverse learn-ing environment. Academic offerings include more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs provided through eight schools and colleges—the College of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Business Administration, Engineer-ing, Hospitality Management, Human Service Professions, Law, and Nursing; and University College. Faculty members provide the personal atten-tion students need to succeed in their studies. Widener enhances solid academic programs with opportunities for career preparation through

The university offers a student-centered experience that helps students balance academics with their daily lives. On the Main Campus, the home base of the university’s 2,747 day under-graduate students, a wide range of extracurricular activities are available. Adult undergraduate (University College) and graduate students re-ceive the flexibility they need to combine their studies with work and family obligations. The Main Campus offers graduate courses in all non-law subjects while the Harrisburg Campus offers graduate courses in law, education, nursing, and social work. Law students can choose between the Delaware and Harrisburg Campuses. Many programs offer summer classes, as well as flexibility in pacing and course sequencing. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) on the Exton Campus fulfills both the educational and social needs of adults aged 50 and over. An educational cooperative, OLLI provides members with noncredit classes taught by their peers. To learn more about these and many other initiatives and programs, visit www.widener.edu.
