HavingledtheNNUcrosscountryandtrackandfieldprogramssincethefallof2002,Spatznowlooksforwardtodevelopingprogramsthatarecompetitiveatboththeconference(GNAC)andnationallevel(NCAAII).SpatzisamemberoftheUSTFCCCAexecutiveboardrepresentingtheGreatNorthwestAthleticConferenceintrack&field.

Enteringhis26thyearasacollegiatetrackandfieldcoach,Spatzhasdeveloped76PerformanceAll-Americansand6individualnationalchampions.AtNNU

Spatzhascoached156GNACAll-Academicteammembers,18USTFCCCAAcademicAll-Americans,had134athletessetschoolrecords,andhascoached39GNACeventchampions.Histeamshaveproducedatotalof62GNACAll-Conferenceperformancesonthemen’sside,and72GNACAll-Conferenceperformancesonthewomen’ssidesince2002.In2009themen’steamhaditsbestNCAAIInationalmeetfinish,placing16th,thewomen’steamsbestNCAAIInationalmeetplacingcamein2008whentheyfinished22nd.SpatzcametoNNUfromEasternOregonUniversity,wherehecoachedfor14years,12yearsasheadtrack&fieldcoachformenandwomen.

Spatzbegancoachingin1986atSpokaneCommunityCollegeasanassistant.From1986-88hecoachedseveralconferencechampionsintheNWAACC.Duringthe1987-88seasonhealsocoachedatUniversityHighSchoolinSpokane,hisalmamater.

The1988graduateofEasternWashingtonUniversity(Cheney)iscertifiedbyUSATrack&FieldasbothanofficialandLevelIIcoach.From1993-96SpatzservedasthechairoftheNAIACulturalExchangeCommittee.Inthesummerof1994heledagroupofNAIAathletesonatriptoBarcelona,Spain,wheretheyparticipatedintheCatalonianSeniorChampionships.In1995SpatzwasaddedtotheWorldSportsExchange(WSE)coachingstaff.ThatAugusthetraveledtoAustraliawithWSEand100highschoolandCrossCountryathletesfor10daysoftrainingandracing.InJulyof2001CoachSpatztraveledtoLaosandThailandwith12athletesandoneothercoachwithAthletesinAction.Theteamledclinicsinbothcountriescoveringallareasoftrackandfield.

Beginningin2005SpatzhasservedastheLeadTrack&FieldClinicianfortheFellowshipofChristianAthletessummercampsinWyoming,SouthDakota,OregonandIdaho.Inthesummerof2008SpatzhelpeddeveloponeofthefirstFCApolevaultcampsinthecountry.AsapastfacultyadvisorfortheNNUFCAHuddle,SpatzisinvolvedwithFCAactivitiesbothonandoffcampus.

ScottbeginshisseventhyearasVerticalandHorizontalJumps/CombinedEventscoachfortheCrusaders.

ScottbringssixyearsofcollegiateandsevenyearsofhighschoolexperiencetoNNU.HeearnedAll-Americanhonorsin1994intheDecathlonwhileatEasternOregonUniversityandisaUSATFLevel2certifiedcoachintheJumps.

DuringhistimeatNNU,Kinnamanhascoachedathletestoschoolrecordsinthepolevault,women’slongjump,women’striplejumpandthewomen’shighjump.In2006

EmilyPetersonearnedNCAAPerformanceAll-Americanhonorsattheindoornationalmeetinthehighjump.

ScottreceivedhisMaster‘sDegreeinExerciseandSportStudies(MSESS)fromBoiseStateUniversityintheFallof2008,andteachesfulltimeintheKinesiologydepartmentatNNU.ScottandhiswifeDawnandhavethreegirls,Alex17,Hailey15andZona13,andliveinNampa.

Dustin AinsworthSprints, Hurdles, and Decathlon

DustinbeginshissixthyearworkingwiththeNNUtrack&fieldteam.DustinservedastheHeadTrack&FieldandCrossCountrycoachatNampaHighSchoolfrom1998to2006.DustinisaUSATFLevel1certifiedcoach.

Asanathlete,hecompetedattheUniversityofIdaho.Dustinhadtheopportunitytoexperiencemanydifferenteventsinhiscollegiatecareer,rangingfromtheDecathlontotheRelays.Hemadeanationalprovisionalmarkinthe400mHurdlesandfocusedonthateventtowardtheendofhisathleticcareer.DustinwasnamedthemostvaluabletrackandfieldathleteattheUniversityofIdahoduringthe1992season.

Dustinbegancoachingin1996andfoundittobeveryrewarding.Hecontinuedtoexpandhisphilosophyandlooksatcoachingasawaytohelpindividualssucceedandmeettheirgoals,inlifeaswellasonthetrack.“Itisaverymotivatingthingtohelpstudent–athletesachievelifelongobjectives.”HeisexcitedtoworkwiththeathletesatNNUandhasfounditreciprocalinnature.“Theathletesmakeitenjoyableforme,buildingrelationshipsandstrongtieswiththemmakescoachinganexcitingendeavor.

DuringhistimecoachingatNNUDustinhascoachedathletestoschoolrecordsinthemen’s110and400hurdles,thewomen’s400hurdles,both4x400relay’sandthewomen’s4x100relay.DustinhascoachedanumberofathletestoGNACindividualtitlesintheseevents.In2009DustincoachedDallasBeatytoNCAAPerformanceAll-AmericanhonorswhenBeatyfinished3rdinthe400hurdlesattheoutdoornationalchampionships.

JakegraduatedfromNorthwestNazareneUniversityin2006,majoringinRecreationandSportsmanagement.JakegraduatedfromIdahoCityHighSchoolin2001.Hecompetedincrosscountryandtrackandfieldhisjuniorandsenioryearqualifyingforstateeighttimesintrackandtwotimesincrosscountry,wherehefinishedthirdinfoureventshissenioryear.

JakeisaUSATFLevel1certifiedcoach.In2002Jakereceivedthecross-countrySteveHillsaward.JakeistheonlypersonatNNUtofinishinthetop30intheNCAA

DivisionllWesternRegionalmeetfourtimesinarow.In2003hewasGNACAllConferenceincrosscountry.DuringthetrackandfieldseasonlaterthatyearhewasGNACAllConferenceinthe10K,placingthird.

InJake’ssixyearsasoneoftheassistantcross-countryandtrackcoachesatNNUhehascoachedfiveGNACconferencechampionsand12NCAAIIPerformanceAll-Americans.HehasalsoassistedincoachingAshleyPuga,whoisatwotimeNCAAIINationalChampioninboththeindoor800mandtheoutdoor800mduringthe2008-2009seasons.
