    POD participant Feedback

A very significant Blog post from Nick Balestra (CEO of Beyounic) probably best describes the feeling weall had at the Basel POD event

Being in a small intimate team connected to a larger global conference setup is aspecial new type experience

Went away from main room after 7 hours of POD interaction

Took time out at 22:00 hours for a group dialogue & reflection

SonicFoundry Stream from Minneapolis was firehose-like

Hard to find time to get to know each other

Experience of the curve of the 8 hours sessionLive speaker from POD was highlight

Interest in insights on how to create a Hybrid event -> solution -> 3 day course in ROI week in London on Meetings technology

    Every pod should have speakers

The Main & Sub role should be balanced

PODs still experience interaction as a remedyto sensation of being a spectator

Google Moderator format not clear tonon users. Gmail account mandatoryand output is unclear

    Couldn't see the "red thread"

    State problem or dilema

Provide time for discussion andrecording solutions

Loop back the output in snippets

Visual Mapper or Mindmapper in realtime with awebbrowser to see results perhaps?

    modular setup for next

Idea for Europe Event CampBoom Chicago

    Amsterdam

    Social Media Disc Jockey

Manage the event's energy Curve overthe day/evening

Pre start discussion around the tablewas good but didn't have enough time

We spent 20 minutes getting to know eachother and covered only 4 pax out or 11

    Start was exciting

David Addler's presentation was too general forthose not inducted in subject matter

state clear problem or question to discussin group and project the question

    Subtopic

    Pecha Kucha was highlight

Business Game was too complicatedand presenter too commercial towardsthe end of his presentation

After 22:00 hours we had the urge tojust shut down the feed and discuss, have desert, just talk as a group / reflect

    Ideas for multiday formatsStartup weekend

    Learning points

    Content

Have a "pause" button to have onsite discussionand then catchup on main presentation

Have a timer on the screen whenmodule starts and ends

Hardware setupHardware setup produces a lot of heat and thus ventilation is very important in the room

When we brought in ventilation the fuse onone of the groups gave up ...we functionedwithout house lights fro some time

Fortunately the screens gave plenty of working light

For full setup description see the TOPIC HARDWARE

    Communications between remote organisers

Organisers must know each other and haveprevious experience in working on onlinesystems like Skype, Webcasting software

Scheduled planning calls and briefing sheets are key

Online collaboration space to sharebriefing sheets, actions and tasks

Remote POD hosts must use their ownpre-configured systems (skype +preferred test OS + connection)

Working with rented / third party systemsis not effective (missing plugins, software, settings, languages, unfamiliarity with setting etc.)

    Communications between organiser + participants

All attendees must have the same informationConference notebook printed or digital

Instructions sheet for every attendee 48hours prior to start event

Speed of presenting needs to be slower than usual

Presenter to speak to remote audienceas well as onsite audience

Questions need to be formulated and projected with acountdown timer for when response is due from PODs

Need at least 90 minutes before event starts to getto know onsite participants in POD event

Take the time for breaks and Food moments synchronized around the various geographic locations

    Marketing

Membership of Pathable communitydidn't get activated clearly enough forattendees at POD

Pricing and format of attendace to besynchronised across main and POD sites Event Brite was good tool for this

    Synchronise post event marketing

    Thank you note/video

    Video's

    Pre-event video

    Timelapse

    Photo Flickr event Photo feed

    Survey ROI survey

Mention how many people online while event is running

Show geographic dispersion ofattendees during the event

    ROI measurement

prepare ahead of time based on Level1, 2 and 3 objectives

    Level 2 learning objective

Yes, I have now seen how hybrid eventtechnology, social media and new collaborativeformats can transform events. Yes, we could try________ at our event. We may not be able todo it without help but yes we could do it.AND, we could do it 10 times better than thosecrazy people at Event Camp Twin Cities.
