DISCOVERING AND BUILDING MY TRUE HOPE (1 Peter 1:2b – 9) 1PE 1:2b Grace and peace be yours in abundance. 1PE 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope thr ough the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire --may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now , you believe in him and are fill ed with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1) God h as great love for me. 2) Knowin g that I h urt, my Father-God ha s taken action on my behalf . 3) His fix is not a “refund” or a “repair,” but a whole new life “from above.” 4) This solution c ame at huge c ost to Him, it cost Him par t of His lif e, Jesus Christ. 5) While I do not receive th e full benef it now , it is imperishab le and kept saf e for me. 6) In the meantime, I am shielded by God’s power until my full salvation is s ecured. 7) Though trials may come in t he interim, they are part of God’s refinement process. 8) Perseverin g in this God or dained process yields faith o f greater w orth than gold. 9) My mindset and hear t as a result, w ill be filled with inexpress ible and glorious joy . 10) That hope for my salvation will most assur edly be fulfilled .
