A Collection of Blank Note Cards

Malehloa, a young mother in Lesotho, an impoverished nation in southern Africa, discovered she was HIV positive while pregnant with her second child. She enrolled in a UNICEF program that helps prevent mother-to-child transmission, followed her treatment regimen rigorously, and gave birth to a healthy baby, free of HIV. After giving birth, Malehloa helped other HIV-positive mothers by sharing what she learned in a UNICEF-supported group, Mothers2Mothers.

A year following China’s devastating 2008 earthquake that left thousands of schools damaged, UNICEF helped girls and boys in rural areas continue their studies in safe surroundings. In February 2010, heavy snows and frigid –50° C temperatures hit Mongolia hard. The weather was so extreme that a state of disaster was declared in 15 of the country’s 21 provinces. Like others in the Khovd Province, five-year-old Uralbai’s family could not afford much to eat after most of their animals died and feed costs tripled. UNICEF responded to the disaster by providing food, fuel, blankets, hygiene kits, medical supplies, and boots to more than 60,000 children.
