A BOLOGNA le bici erano come i cani by Paolo Nori Edicicloeditore (2010) Series: Ciclopolis/3 160 p. 12x18 cm € 12,00 An unusual portrait of the city of Bologna seen through the irreverent and ironical eyes of one of the most creative and defiant writers of the literary scene.

An unusual Bologna in which the bike is a means to lose weight, but also simply to go out or to find a

girl. Bologna is a young, biker friendly city, as well as the regional capital of Emilia Romagna where, as

Zavattini said, people take along their bikes even when they go on foot, as if they were their pets.

The main character of the book is a writer who wants to lose weight. His only means of transport is his

bike which he rides everywhere around Bologna. Three stories intertwine, with a flashback to the past

and a love affair as well. In the background Bologna is there all the time, and so is the bike, with

anecdotes about padlocks and thefts.

The book belongs to the series Ciclopolis, a collection of peculiar and even unique experiences about the

relationship with a town observed from the saddle of a bicycle.

Paolo Nori was born in Parma in 1963 and now lives and works in Bologna. He published many novels with important Italian publishing houses like Einaudi, Feltrinelli, Bompiani, Laterza. He also works as a translator from Russian and has edited a number of books about Russian literature. He is an active and prolific intellectual of the Italian literary scene.

I DIARI della Via FRANCIGENA Da Canterbury a Roma sulle tracce di viandanti e pellegrini by Enrico Brizzi & Marcello Fini Edicicloeditore (2010) Series: A passo d’uomo/3 Glossy plastic-coated soft cover, with colour photo insert 264 p. 14x21 cm € 18,50

Travelling on foot on the legendary Via Francigena, the major medieval pilgrimage route to Rome: 1.600 km through 33 cities. Story of a journey, exhaustive guide, reflections on the road.

Third issue of the series “A passo d’uomo” after La via di Gerusalemme and La via degli dèi, I diari della

Via Francigena is the story of the authors’ journey from Canterbury to Rome in the footsteps of

Sigerico, Archbishop of Canterbury in the 10th century, and of medieval pilgrims. Enrico Brizzi and

Marcello Fini left in the Summer of 2006 and faced the long travel on foot, willing to understand all

images and words caught along the road and to reflect upon the meaning of life and the cultural

heritage of medieval Europe. A rich photographic insert, an exhaustive guide and useful maps provide

all details to repeat the feat stage by stage.

Enrico Brizzi, born in Bologna in 1974, is one of the most successful Italian novelists of the young generation. Known as the “walking writer”, he has written many road novels based on real travels on foot. His official website is www.enricobrizzi.it. During the journey his blog www.francigena21.com was created.

Marcello Fini, born in Bologna in 1973, has worked in the publishing industry and now he is a librarian at the Archiginnasio of Bologna. “A passo d’uomo” is coauthored by him and Enrico Brizzi and they wrote La via di Gerusalemme – first book of the series – together, too.

LA MIA PRIMA BICICLETTA Ediciclo editore (2010) Soft cover with rounded corners 120 p. 12x18 cm € 10,00 Thirty authors – writers, journalists, artists, scientists – among which Margherita Hack, Susanna Tamaro and Paolo Rumiz – recall their first bike.

The book sponsors an important solidarity initiative: Royalties will go to a project of the Community of Sant’Egidio in Africa.

Do you remember your first bike? Its model and colour and the sound of the wheels, but also the

sensations of the first ride: the fear of falling, your father’s hand, the wind in your hair, the sense of

freedom… Everybody remembers their first bike or is fond of one in particular because it’s linked to

some sweet and intense memories. We have asked thirty personalities in various fields to write about

this particular memory, this unforgettable first time. The result is a sentimental cross-section: thirty

portraits for one’s personal memories’ gallery, thirty stories which deal with childhood and its changes.

And which often half-reveal future achievements and developments.

The authors, in alphabetical order: Bibì Bellini, Antonella Cilento, Paolo Colagrande, Bruno Contigiani, Maurizio Crosetti, Berarda Del Vecchio, Gian Luca Favetto, Fabio Geda, Margherita Hack, Ernesto Milanesi, Michele Monina, Gianluca Morozzi, Gianni Mura, Annibale Osti, Marco Pastonesi, Darwin Pastorin, Gian Paolo Porreca, Emilio Rigatti, Giampiero Rigosi, Paolo Rumiz, Flavio Santi, Davide Sapienza, Andrea Satta, Brunella Schisa, Pietro Spirito, Susanna Tamaro, Didier Tronchet, Wu Ming 2, Paola Zannoner.

Wu Ming 2 La Via degli Dei Ediciclo Forthcoming: April 2010 Soft cover 14x21 cm 250 pages € 18,00

“Wu Ming 2 turns utopia into narration.” Loredana Lipperini, La Repubblica

From Bologna to Florence by High Speed Train: 120 km/h in 37 minutes. With Wu Ming 2 on foot from piazza Maggiore in Bologna to piazza della Signoria in Florence at 5 km/h in 5 days. In a morning in late summer, a father named Gerolamo takes his two children at Parco Talon, an expanse of woods and meadows on the outskirts of Bologna. While following the tracks of a deer, they arrive at a path they had never seen before, in front of a sign pointing south and simply reading: Florence. On the following day, in the large square in front of the station, Gerolamo looks at the column that was put up to celebrate the opening of the high-speed rail section from Bologna to Florence. So, he gets the idea to walk through the mountain pass and discover a world that the new rail crosses through tunnels. What do millions of travellers not see while passing through this bottleneck of the National railway system? A quite unexpected answer comes after five days’ walk at a speed of 5 km/h – chance meetings, legends, environmental damages, silent beech woods, roe deer cropping under viaducts, ruins of old inns that give shelter to new pilgrims… Wu Ming 2 was born in January 2000 – his previous nickname was Luther Blissett. He inherited from his father a passion for trails and from his mother a live for stories. He is one of the collective authors of the novels Q, Hatchets of War, 54, Manituana and Altai. As sole author he published Guerra agli Umani (Einaudi 2004), a satire of primitivism and survivalism set on the Apennines in an undefined year.
