Welcome...

At Tiffi n University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic pro-grams have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual ac-colades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study con-ducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffi n Uni-versity in the last fi ve years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing fi eld and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the winning tradition that has been established, and I am confi dent the future will also be highly successful for Tiffi n University athletics.

2009 Men’s Soccer Results

The 2010 edition of the Tiffi n University men’s soccer team looks to continue its stellar Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play and capture its third con-secutive conference tournament champion-ship and advance to the NCAA Division II tournament.

For the 2010 season, the Dragons return three of four players who were named to the Daktronics Division II Midwest All-Region team. Leading the way is junior forward Ashton Campbell, who was second in the conference with 11 goals in 2009. This sea-son through six contests, Campbell leads the conference with fi ve goals scored and was named GLIAC Player of the Week on Tues. Sept. 14 after recording a hat trick against ri-val Findlay and another pair of goals against Lake Erie College.

Joining Campbell on the First Team All-Midwest Region last season was senior

midfi elder Rhys Cannella, who was also named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and a Daktronics First Team All-American. Cannella and Campbell were the only two players last season to reach double-digits in goals scored, as Cannella led the conference by fi nding the back of the net 18 times. Also co-leading the team with six assists with Campbell, Cannella led the conference with an amazing 36 total points.

Rounding out the trio of all-region players who return in 2010 is senior goalkeeper Jeff Frisch. Frisch was second in the conference in both total saves (80) and shutouts (eight shutouts, 1 shared shutout). So far in 2010, he is eighth in the conference with 12 saves and is only one of fi ve goalies in the GLIAC with

a shutout to their credit. Other returners include midfi elders Michael O’Neill, Tyler Fabian, Roger Kum-mer, and Rabii Karanouh, and defenders Adam Fussell and Nick Kutch.

Tiffi n University’s Rhys Cannella was selected as First Team Daktronics Division II All-American. Cannella was the only GLIAC men’s soccer player picked on the First, Second, Third, or Honorable Mention teams, and is also the fi rst Tiffi n University soccer player to earn First Team NCAA All-American status. Cannella had previously been a First Team All-Region and Conference pick while also being named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men’s soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all fi rst team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fourth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II men’s soccer All-America and All-Region teams.

ParadisoAthletic Complex

Tiffi n University enjoys playing its home games at the Paradiso Athletic Com-plex. One of many attractive new facilities on display, the Paradiso Athletic Complex is

one of the top soccer fi elds in the area. With warmup fi elds, a large outfi eld electronic scoreboard, a developing press box area, and team dugouts, the fi eld offers the Tiffi n University soccer teams a great place to call home. The fi eld is just 1.5 miles from the Tiffi n Uni-versity campus and resides on 78 acres of land that also house all the outdoor athlet-ics teams at TU.

The Paradiso Athletic Complex debuted in the fall of 1997. Also included are two softball fi elds, Heminger fi eld, two football practice fi elds, a Nature Preserve, and a developing outdoor track and fi eld facility. Another new addition to the fi elds is the Athletic Fieldhouse. In addition, there is expanded parking accomodating hundreds of vehicles. An indoor practice facility is also in development nearby.

Share the Pride, Build on Traditionis a $12 million comprehensive campaign designed to create endowed student scholarships, construct the new recreation center, and make other campus improvements. These enhancements, coupled with recent investments in new student apartments, the Tiffi n University Nature Preserve, Paradiso Athletic Complex, and the Miami Street Improvement Project, will result in a total investmentby Tiffi n University of more than $30 million in the Tiffi n community.

Campaign ObjectivesRecreation Center$9,400,000The Recreation Center will consist of two connected buildings: a fi eld house and an indoor practice facility. The connector will include a lobby and locker room facilities.

Other Campus Development$1,600,000Over the past several decades, TU has created a campus that not only refl ects the University’s own growth and success, but also en-hances the appearance and economic well being of the City of Tiffi n. To continue pursuing the campus master plan, TU seeks $1.6 million for land acquisition, landscaping, parking and others amenities.

Endowed Student Scholarships$1,000,000Without fi nancial aid, many Tiffi n University students could not afford higher education. Since over 80 percent of TU students receive some level of aid, TU leaders seek $1 million to bolster the endowment resources of the University to create additionalstudent scholarships.

As Athletic Director at Tiffi n University and Head Baseball Coach since 1992, I can personally attest to the fact that this is an exciting time at Tiffi n University and particularly its athletic department. As a full member of the Great Lakes Intercolle-giate Athletic Conference, arguably the nation’s fi nest conference, it is time to make a strong commitment to excellence. I am committed to increasing the visibility and our outreach efforts of TU’s athletic department while remaining conscious of your needs and concerns.

Because of this the Tiffi n University Athletic Department annually holds the Tiffi n University Athletic Department Golf Outing. By supporting Tiffi n University Athlet-ics through participation in the golf outing, the community assists us with this com-mitment and ensures our student athletes compete at the highest level.

Thanks for your continued support,

Lonny Allen Athletic Director Tiffi n University

Our Athletic Department is eager to continue our growing success. As our University and reputation continues to prog-ress within the community, the GLIAC, and the NCAA, we want to thank you, the fans, for supporting us in our endeav-ors. With the generous support and funding from friends, parents, alumni, and neighbors we can continue to prosper to be an elite NCAA D-II institution. Your annual involvement with our athletic fundraising guarantees that you will be recognized and promoted as a loyal constituent of Tiffi n University Athletics throughout the entire school year. Tiffi n University looks forward to the increase of our annual partnerships.
