After a long battle with illness and the emotional strain of our trip to Haiti, seeing family and friends (even if only for a quick “hello” in many cases) was exactly what we needed for a renewed sense of connectedness and rejuvenation. We want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who hosted a speaking event, let us preach in their churches, invited us over for dinner just to love on us and all who continue to pray for our work among the Voiceless of the world. Diane’s health is on an upswing and we have all of you, as well as our gracious God, to thank for that. While the summer surely was restful, we are happy to report that it was also amazingly productive. We spent a good part of our trip on the US mainland networking with many Nonprofits, Artists, Missionary Communities, Churches, and other likeminded people of all sorts. Pray with us that many of these missional relationships will flourish into partnerships for the cause of bringing GOOD NEWS TO THE MARGINALIZED! this fall DTS Outreaches Return To KONA! This past week saw the return of our DTS outreach teams from India, the Philippines, Haiti/DR and Central America! The two of us along with the rest of the photogenX Leadership had the privilege of debriefing our 48 trainees from 2010 and are just amazed at the stories they had to share. From empowerment projects birthed within the Red Light Districts of the Philippines, to a great number of new brothers and sisters baptized into Christ in India, how could any of us not be blown away by the faithfulness of our God! PHOTOGENX PUBLISHING PROJECTS! This Fall we will be heavily involved in the development of the 2nd Edition of the Voice for the Voiceless: 30 Days of Prayer Booklet. To date we have moved almost all 100,000 of the original copies in English (hand to hand) as well as seen translations into 9 languages, the result of which has been an explosion in consciousness within the Church surrounding issues of injustice as well as the great need for mercy ministries. Pray with us that as we seek to birth the second edition of the pray book hearts would be moved to action on behalf of those lost in the margins. This Fall also marks the return of the 2009 photogenX Around The World Track participants, whom we traveled with last year in Panama, South Africa and Egypt. As they return to Kona after15 months of travel and study we will be working with them as they begin to develop a campaign of hope out of their experiences. Join us in prayer for the development of this new campaign which as of yet does not have a focus. Pray we would be open to the Spirit’s guidance so that whatever purpose He has for these stories would lead to tangible change in this world. YWAM’s 50th YEAR! It is Youth With A Mission’s (photogenX’s parent organization) Jubilee Year and we are celebrating. All across the globe YWAM Bases have been celebrating 50 years of world missions and in late November it will all culminate with the final celebration here at YWAM Kona. You are invited to join the celebration in Kona! Our Kona community of 400 is preparing for a swell of close to 5,000 as people from over 100 countries come to celebrate what God is doing in this world. As for photogenX’s part, we will be launching a number of new initiatives at the celebration, as well as holding a seminar on creative media in missions. FOR MORE INFO VISIT - ywam50.com/kona

1 John 3:16 “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us - and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. 17How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? 18Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. 19And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before him 20whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.”

southern africa Many of you heard us speak this summer of our coming outreach to Southern Africa to work at creating Hope-Networks for the over 70,000 Children orphaned by AIDS. Originally we had intended to go this fall, but after reflection on Diane’s health, as well as the short amount of time to invest in the trip we have decided to push the outreach to next Spring. With this push we can link the outreach into our next photogenX Around The World Track and commit nearly 2 months to the work instead of just a few weeks. We are so excited to get back out in the field!

DID YOU KNOW?

Somebody is infected with the HIV virus every 8 seconds.

2.7 million people across the globe became infected with HIV in 2008, with a heavy concentration among young people.

Sub-Saharan Africa, which recorded 1.9 million new infections, still bears the brunt of the AIDS epidemic, with 33.4 million people living with HIV.

Of the 2 million global deaths due to AIDS-related illnesses occurred worldwide last year, the highest number recorded occurred in Africa.

good news! For many months photogenX’s Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign, SEX+MONEY has been in dialogue with Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist.org, pleading with him to censor the “adult-services” section of his popular listings website. It has been well documented for some time now that Craigslist.org has been a breading ground for Child Exploitation, Trafficking, and Forced Prostitution due in part to the lax in online regulation laws. But just a few weeks ago Craigslist made a decision to self-censor its “adult-services” section saying . . . "Craigslist is committed to being socially responsible, and when it comes to adult services ads, that includes aggressively combating violent crime and human rights violations, including human trafficking."
