Henry Manning, a four-year
starter and former captain of the Pace
University baseball team, begins his
tenth season as the head baseball
coach of the Setter program. He took
over the head coaching duties in May
2000, one season after returning to his
alma mater as the assistant coach.
The Setters finished the 2009
season with a 20-30-1 record and
posted a 13-17 record in the
Northeast-10 Conference, finishing in
ninth place. Coach Manning earned
his 200th victory in his coaching
career with a 6-3 win over Bentley on
April 19. For his career with the
Setters, Coach Manning has posted a
career mark or 203- 247 in nine sea-
sons as head coach.
During his tenure at Pace,
Manning has coached nine players
that were eventually drafted by a
Major League Baseball team. In 2008,
Matt Rigoli and Jack Cawley were
both selected by the St. Louis
Cardinals in the 2008 MLB Draft.
Rigoli was taken in the 21st round,
while Cawley was selected in the
round 34. They joined an elite class of
former Pace players drafted into the
professional ranks, bringing Coach
Manning’s total to nine players draft-
ed during his tenure as head coach. The
previous group of Setters that were
selected in the Major League Baseball
draft consist of Matt Arburr (2007 St.
Louis Cardinals, 17th round), David
Qualben (2006 Houston Astros, 7th
round), Bryan Hallberg (2006 Houston
Astros, 12th round), Earl Oakes (2006
Oakland Athletics, 24th round), Matt
Reilly (2006 Los Angeles Angels of
Anaheim, 27th round), Pat Stanley, (2004
Colorado Rockies, 16th Round) and
Mike Bohlander (2002 Chicago White
Sox, 27th Round).
Prior to coming back to Pace,
Manning enjoyed a nine-year profession-
al career in baseball as both a player and
coach. As a player, Manning was a
catcher in the Chicago White Sox organi-
zation from 1991-1995, reaching the
AAA level in 1994. He spent half of the
1995 season playing for the Winnipeg
Goldeyes in the independent Northern
League where he earned All-Star honors.
He finished his playing career in 1996
after a brief stint with the Boston Red
Sox organization.
In 1997, Manning's first coach-
ing job was managing the Johnstown
Steal in the Frontier League. There, he
guided the team to the best overall record
and lost in the championship series. He
then spent two years as the Assistant
General Manager/Coach of the New
Jersey Jackals, where he helped build a
team that won the Northern League title
in the Jackals' inaugural season.
As a Setter, Manning ranks among the
all-time leaders in hits, doubles, home
runs, RBI and runs scored. As a fresh-
man he led the team with a .373 average,
and had his best year in 1988 when he hit
.385 with 7 home runs. He played two
years in the highly regarded Cape Cod
Summer League for the Brewster White
Caps ('88) and Chatham A's ('89).
Manning holds a BA degree in
Mathematics. He and his wife Kristen
reside in New Jersey with their daughter
Julia and son Matthew.

and fundraising for Pace as well as serving as a
bench coach.
Originally, from Queens N.Y., Coach Raimondi
played his high school ball at St. Francis Prep
(Alma Mater to Vince Lombardi & Joe Torre), in
Brooklyn, N.Y. He continued his playing career at
Fordham University and played infield. After a
short stint at Fordham, Raimondi played and
coached Inter-service ball for the United State
Marine Corps, until the Iranian hostage situation
forced a mandatory alert status. Upon being dis-
charged from the Marine Corps as a Captain, he
then played two years in the industrial semi-pro
leagues in Shinagawa, and Ebisu, Japan.
Raimondi played summer ball with organiza-
tions throughout Long Island, Brooklyn, and
Queens including the L.I. Mets and
Brooklyn–Queens Silk Sox.
Raimondi has coached in many leagues at the
high school and summer college level in the
Brooklyn-Queens alliances. He has also coached
in the ACBL with the NY Generals organization.
Raimondi also coached Tier I (“A”) junior hockey
within the NY Ranger organization, and won a
state championship at the high school level.
Raimondi has two sons who both played athlet-
ics on the collegiate level; Len, an electrical
engineer in New York City, and Pete Jr., a lawyer
living in Florida.

Oakes set the single season save record with 13
in 2006 and is the all-time leader in saves with

2.65 ERA, while posting a 5-4 record for his
career.
Coach Oakes was drafted in the 2006 Major
League Baseball Draft in the 24th round by the
Oakland Athletics. Oakes spent two-plus sea-
sons in the A’s minor league system before
pitching for the Midwest Sliders of the Frontier
League in 2008 and 2009.
Earl Oakes returns to
Pace after a three-year
career in a Setter uniform
SCHEDULE
The Setters enter their sixth
season as a member of the
Northeast-10 Conference,
after last season where Pace
finished in ninth place with a
13-17 record in the NE-10.
The Setters will face a chal-
lenging task this season as
they will face national power-
house Florida Southern in a
four-game weekend series to
open the season in mid-
February. When Pace returns
to the Northeast, they will
face five of the six teams that
qualified for the NCAA East
Region, including Northeast-
10 Conference opponents
Franklin Pierce Assumption
and new member to the NE-
10 Adelphi. In addition, the
Setters will take on
Dominican as well as the
East Region champion
Dowling.
INFIELDERS
The Setters return two play-
ers to the right side of the
infield in seniors Vinny
Dammann and JJ Conrad.
Dammann returns as the
everyday first baseman, after
a 2009 season in which he
batted .258 with 17 runs
scores, seven doubles, and
18 RBIs. Dammann was also
10-for-12 on stolen bases last
season. Conrad returns for a
second season as the starter at
second base. Last season, he
batted .223 with 25 runs
scored, two doubles and 16
RBIs, while going 7-for-10 in
stolen bases. The left of the
infield will feature a pair of
freshman as Robert Horn and
Brandon Martinson will be
looked to step into key start-
ing roles for the Setters this
season. Horn will look to be
the starter at shortstop for
Pace this season after First
Team All-FCIAC as a senior
in high school. Martinson
will assume the starting third
base role after being named a
2009 First Team Section 1
All-Star as a senior in high
school. Tyler Hart will split
time between the designated
hitter spot and first base after
leading the Setters with a
.326 batting average last sea-
son. Hart also contributed
four doubles, two triples,
scored six runs and totaled 14
RBIs. Laurence Flammia will
provide depth for the Setters
at short stop and third as he
played in 10 games last sea-
son for Pace.
Kyle Turnier action in 31
games last season as a middle
infielder and will again be
relied on for depth in the
infield.
OUTFIELDERS
Senior Chris Spatkowski
returns as the starter in cen-
terfield after batting .296 last
season. Spatkowski also
scored 19 runs with three
doubles, two triples and 13
RBIs, while going 9-for-13 in
stolen bases. Sophomore
Patrick Chaputian will start
again in right field after a
solid freshman season.
Chaputian batted .248 with
28 runs scored, good for sec-
ond on the team, while total-
ing four doubles, two triples
and 10 RBIs. He finished
third on the freshman at-bats
record list with 153, while
finishing second on the fresh-
man list with 17 stolen bases.
Senior Mike Torello will step
into a starting role this season
in left field after seeing
action in 34 games, while

Wright will provide depth in
the outfield and will also see

Wright batted .242 with 13
runs scored, three doubles and
seven RBIs, while going 3-for-
3 in stolen bases. Ryan
McKeown and Chris Roemer
saw limited action last season
and will both see time in the
outfield this season.
CATCHERS
The Setters will look to return-
ers junior Michael Rodriguez
and sophomore Steve Sterlacci
to see the bulk of the action at
the catcher positions this sea-
son. Rodriguez batted .241 last
season with a pair of doubles
and two RBIs in 20 games
players. Sterlacci started 41 of
the 42 games he played last
season as he scored 11 runs
and totaled six RBIs. Sterlacci
also led the NE-10 in throwing
running out on the base paths.
Senior Brian Kraminitz will
miss the 2010 season due to
off season surgery and will sit
out the season via a medical
redshirt.
PITCHERS
Pace returns a talented group
of pitchers from last season as
senior Mackenzie King will
look to return to a starting role
after missing the 2009 season
to an injury. Junior Michael
Sciaretta will also be relied on
a starter after going 2-2 last
year, while posting a 3.00
ERA. His ERA was the top
among the Pace starters last
season, while he also struck
out 33 batters in 45 innings
pitched along with two saves.
Michael Franza will make the
move from the pen to the start-
ing rotation this season follow-
ing a 1-1 record in 14 relief
appearances in 2009. Franza
struck out 11 batters in 19.2
innings pitched last season.
Chris Camastro will also be
slotted into a starting role after
splitting time between the pen
and rotation last season.
Camastro appeared in 12
games, starting six, posting an
0-2 record with a 5.80 ERA,
while striking out 13 batters in
35.2 innings pitched. Junior
Richard Sullivan will also step
into a starting role this season,
after posting a 1-2 record with
a 5.12 ERA last season.
Sullivan appeared in 10 games,
while starting one and struck
out 10 batters in 19.1 innings
pitched. Seniors Salvatore
DePaola and Michael
Mastrogiovanni are expected
to see time as the long reliev-
ers as well as spot starters this
season. Both saw action prima-
rily out of the pen with
Mastrogiovanni starting two
games and DePaola starting
one. The top reliever this sea-
son is senior Frank Luongo
following his team-leading six
saves in 2009 for the Setters.
Luongo posted 2-2 record with
a 4.30 ERA, while striking out
20 in 23.0 innings pitched.
Luongo enters this season third
all-time in saves with nine,
trailing second place by three
saves. Steve D’Angelo returns
as a solid arm out of the pen
after posting a 2-1 record with
a 4.50 ERA in 17 relief
appearances last season.
D’Angelo also struck out 28
batters in 28 innings pitched in
2009. Newcomers Brian
Sundberg and Edward Byrne
will also be looked to con-
tribute immediately to the
Setters’ bullpen. Sundberg was
an All-County and All-State
pitcher and third baseman,
helping his team win the
Nassau County and Long
Island Championships. Byrne
was an Honorable Mention
All-Westchester County selec-
tion as a senior in 2009.

THE PACE STORY:
Pace is a university whose resources have played an essential role in the realization of individual dreams of achievement andwhose mission is voiced in its motto: Opportunitas.
Founded in 1906 by the Pace brothers as a business school for men and women who aspired to a better life, Pace Institute beganits transformation into a modern university, with emphasis on the liberal arts and sciences, under Robert Pace 42 years later. With dynamic leadership and fiscally sound management, Pace has grown into one of the largest universities in New York State, with a multi-million dollar physical plant, an endowment of over $100 million and a reputation for excellent teaching and talent-ed, ambitious graduates.
Pace is a comprehensive university with five schools and one college that offers a wide range of academic and professional pro-grams for a large, diverse population of more than 13,000 students in for-credit programs, and in affiliated offerings. Through itsLubin School of Business, Pace continues to build its reputation for excellence in business education. The Lienhard School ofNursing, the School of Law, the School of Education and the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systemsare more recent responses to the needs of the New York City and Westchester communities for strong professional schools toprepare a well-educated workforce.
The University's decision in 1948 to develop a college of arts and sciences as both an autonomous academic unit and a founda-tion for the undergraduate core curriculum has strengthened and enriched the educational experience of Pace students and pro-vided an ongoing source of intellectual enrichment to the University. The Dyson College of Arts and Sciences is central to theintellectual life of Pace, to shaping academic priorities, and to providing ethical, humanistic and scientific principles upon whichlives and careers are founded.
At the heart of Pace's academic values is an historic commitment to excellence in teaching, as manifested by small classes, anemphasis on skill development and critical thinking, special tutoring and support services, and academic advising. Academicexperiences at Pace emphasize teaching from both a practical and theoretical perspective, drawing upon the expertise of facultywho balance academic preparation with professional experience to bring a unique dynamic to the classroom.
While the primary emphasis of the institution is on excellent teaching, the university supports and encourages scholarly activityto ensure the intellectual vitality of the faculty. While much of the work has had professional application, Pace particularlyinvites scholarship that directly relates to the classroom experience and involves students in the research process.
Pace has always had a student-centered focus and is committed to providing access to those who range widely in age, ethnicity,socio-economic background and academic preparation. Increasing amounts of institutional financial aid to help students meet thegrowing costs of a private education; locations in New York City and Westchester County; evening, weekend and summerscheduling; and special counseling and academic support services are ways in which the university has sought to enhance theaccessibility and opportunities of a Pace education.
A significant tradition of Pace University is its strong relationship with business, civic and community organizations. Offeringspecial programs and services to neighboring institutions and corporate partners, the university gains strength in return fromthese partnerships and derives benefits for its students from the networks these linkages provide.
The future of Pace University will be shaped by its traditions and values as they respond to the current needs and expectations oftoday's students. Combining excellence in instruction with personal attention, Pace provides the virtues of the small arts and sci-ences college with the curricular richness, scholarly disposition and excellent professional programs of the research and compre-hensive institution.
HISTORY OF PACE UNIVERSITY:
Founded in 1906 by the Pace brothers, Homer and Charles, The Pace Institute was a business school for men and women whoaspired to a better life.
Homer and Charles Pace borrowed $600 to rent a classroom and office in the old Tribune building in lower Manhattan to teach10 men and three women the principles of accounting and business law. That building once stood where the Pace Plaza buildingstands today.

Two years later, because of the overwhelming success of the Pace School of Accountancy, the Pace brothers relocated classes tothe nearby Hudson Terminal complex. Another move to the Transportation Building at 225 Broadway took place in 1927 inresponse to continued growth.
In 1948, Pace Institute was approved for college status by the New York Board of Regents. Academic expansion forced yet anoth-er move to 41 Park Row in 1951, and two years later Pace College received authorization from the State Education Department togrant the bachelor of arts degree.
Classes began on the Pleasantville campus in 1963. The year before, the Marks Hall building was signed over to the College byPace Trustee Wayne Marks, President of General Foods, and his wife, Helen. Soon after, Dyson Hall was constructed, named inhonor of alumnus, Trustee and benefactor, Charles H. Dyson. Willcox Hall was named for Trustee and benefactor Byron Willcox.
In 1965, the Undergraduate School of Business Administration, the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education wereestablished. The year following, the School of Nursing was founded and was later named after alumnus, Trustee and benefactorGustav Lienhard. In December 1966, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Civic Center building, Vice President HubertHumphrey promised to teach at Pace and conducted a Scholar-in-Residence seminar at the New York City campus.
Finally, in 1973, the State Education Department approved Pace College's petition for university status. Two years later, theCollege of White Plains consolidated with Pace University, and the School of Law was established in 1976. The assets ofBriarcliff College were acquired in 1977. In the years following, an international education center was opened by IBMCorporation, NYNEX opened a center and the Hastings Center moved its operations to the Briarcliff site. In 1983, the School ofComputer Science and Information Systems was established as its own entity. In 1997, Pace purchased the World Trade Institute,a leading-edge provider of international training programs.
Pace University today is a diverse institution with over 13,000 students. For 100 years, bright, motivated and talented men andwomen have walked out of Pace's many doors, degrees in hand, and have ventured into the world prepared for the challenges ofeach passing decade. Every year, curriculum offerings in schools and colleges are modified to meet the changing needs of ambi-tious and knowledgeable students.
Throughout the years since 1906, Pace has grown along with the talents of those who comprise what is affectionately known asthe "Pace community." The Pace tradition is something in which we can all take pride.
