Bay Chamber Concerts is celebrating its 50th year… and that means extraordinary programs for you. We hope you will join us for wonder-ful offerings of music and dance by exceptional performers from around the world, specially chosen to meet every interest and taste. Some people tell us that they cannot believe such riches are possible in a small community. But we know it is not the number of people who live in a place but the love they have for beautiful music and superb dance. We have been bringing these programs to Rockport, Camden, and Rockland for decades and our audiences continue to grow. There are many new ways to sign up for our events so that you can get the best seats for exactly the programs you want at the best pos-sible prices. There are also many opportunities for families and young people. If you do not find exactly the option you want, please call us. Anyone who wants to come to our programs should be able to do so and we will make it possible so long as there are enough seats.

We are thrilled that our 50th Anniversary film “Musical Gifts” will be screened several times this year before certain concerts. Please check the following pages for locations and screening times. So act now, plan your fall, winter and spring activities, and I will “see you at the show!”

Jump rhythm Jazz ProjectSaturday, October 2, 20107:00 p.m. at the Strom Auditorium, Camden Hills Regional High SchoolEmmy award-winning Jump Rhythm Jazz Project celebrates the timeless core of jazz perfor-mance – dancing and singing in high-energy bursts of rhythm to the beat-driven sounds of swinging jazz, blues-and-funk-based rock, and world music. Artistic director, Billy Siegenfeld’s ground-breaking approach to body alignment called “standing down straight” has been

2010-2011 Performing Arts Seriescredited by Dancer magazine as “the first genuine jazz technique in forty years.” JRJP’s innovative system of vocal-rhythmic dance transforms the moving body, accompanied by scat-singing, into a rhythm-accurate, emo-tion-charged percussion instrument.

Music program, these remarkable musicians will coach and provide musical inspiration culminating in this concert, devoted to favorite chamber works by Felix Mendels-sohn including the D minor piano trio and B-flat viola quintet. Performing in the concert are: Peter Zazofsky and Bayla Keyes, violins; Steven Ansell, and Maria Lambros, violas; Michael Reynolds and Marc Johnson, cellos; and Cary Lewis, piano.

Bach & Forth with stephen Prutsman, pianoSunday, November 21, 20102:30 p.m. at the Rockport Opera HouseIn a fascinating program that will debut here before heading to Lincoln Center in New York, the brilliant pianist Stephen Prutsman connects and juxtaposes the timeless music of J.S. Bach with works of virtually every style since his day. Unlike any concert ever presented at Bay Chamber, Prutsman’s performance will feature Bach’s music, which embodies emotion and expressivity rarely equaled in chamber music, and will match it with a variety of musical selections that mirror the unique character of Bach’s musical genius.2
