Knowledge, it is said, is power. Perhaps no man knew this better than Dr.T.M.A. Pai, the man who visualised schools, colleges, hospitals and banks on barren land. His vision and perseverance created professional colleges of medicine, dentistry, engineering, nursing, pharmacy, management, hotel management and communications.

From then to now, Manipal has grown into an international university town. The Manipal model of education and healthcare has been replicated elsewhere in India and abroad. Students from 53 countries come to Manipal every year to pursue their dreams of a satisfying academic career. Hundreds of other students study at sister institutions in Mangalore, Bangalore, Sikkim, Nepal, Malaysia, Antigua and Dubai and in twinning programmes in the USA, UK, Australia and Germany.

In recognition of Manipal’s efforts in imparting professional education in diverse disciplines, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education was awarded the University status in June 1993.

Today, the Manipal Education is a multi-million conglomerate with a well-defined focus for growth and betterment of quality of life. A market leader with a stamp of excellence and high standards of professionalism, it has a 12,500 strong work force, 12 hospitals with 7,000 beds, runs 53 educational institutions with 150,000 students from all over the world and operates in five dif ferent countries. Over the years, the group has carved itself a niche with talent, enterprise and dedication.

Dubai, a jewel in the Arabian Desert, has in recent past

etched a place for itself on the world map. Dubai, the second largest emirate in the U.A.E. is the most populous.

It is located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian

Peninsula and as a cathedral of consumerism, Dubai has its major

revenue sources in the massive shopping malls, the haunting beauty

of hotels, the ethereally alluring real estate with an option

of ‘freehold’ and a staggering rate of tourism. It boasts of a host

of chart breakers like the tallest, biggest, oldest etc.

Dubai also owes its charm to the demography - it revels in blending the polarized

extremes of traditionalism & modernity. It has generally torrid summers & cold

winters. It is also home to over 40 Universities/ Institutes which

offer higher education. Dubai has over the year become a hub for

education, entertainment and technologies and is now reckoned with the

‘FIRSTS’ in the world.

LISTMECHANICAL ENGINEERING

These graduates are most wanted by all the industry types for designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining new technologies. They can also serve in automotive technology, electromechanical field, refrigeration and air conditioning, fluid mechanics, power stations, railways, aeronautical divisions, research organizations, chemical field, constructions and many more.

ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERINGIs one of the largest and fastest growing industries. It covers associated areas like the Television, Radio, computers, mobile phones, telecommunication etc. An electronics engineer will work in a team with other specialists to design, fabricate, produce, test and supervise the manufacture of complex products.

MECHATRONICS ENGINEERINGIs the combination of Mechanical, Electrical and Computer technologies. It is a relatively new field of engineering with many exciting developments such as internet control of machines, autonomous robots and engine management systems. There is a strong demand for Mechatronics engineers who are capable of designing, implementing and operating these systems to meet an increasing need in industry where complexity of projects is done with limited resources.

CIVIL ENGINEERINGThese graduates are involved in monitoring and guiding as well as devising and designing the building of roads, girders, bridges, airports, tunnels, dams, water & sewage systems and other structures. Civil engineering is one of the oldest disciplines of engineering and contains a variety of specialties like structural, water related, environmental, architectural, transportation and geo-technical engineering.

INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ENGINEERINGIs a specialized branch of electrical and electronic engineering, which focuses on the principle, and operation of measuring instruments, which are used in design and configuration of automated systems. These engineers work for industries with automated processes, such as chemical or manufacturing plants, with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimization and stability.
