A Cause to Give Thanks The Schallerts - A Voice for the Voiceless Newsletter We have begun to settle into the routine again. Last week our community split off into pairs and covered most of Southern Africa working on various “journalistic justice” projects. We had team members in Namibia, Johannesburg, White River (working with a project called 10,000 Homes who advocate on behalf of HIV Orphans), Durban, as well as here in Cape Town/Capricorn. There were so many amazing stories and experiences shared by everyone we wish we could share them all with you. In fact, as we pondered all the stories and people our community shared life with this past week, it made us reflect a bit further. It’s hard to believe that we have been “in the field” for nearly six months nonstop now. It has been “full-on” too - sharing life & love, plowing the field for a harvest of justice, standing in solidarity with the oppressed, joining shoulder to shoulder with amazing individuals who day and night knead the dirt and plant seeds of love, climbing mountains and forging rivers, testing our faith. We have met so many people and seen God do incredible things these past six month! Next week as we take time to give thanks, it’s a time to remember all that God has done as well as hold fast to His promises. We can’t help but give thanks to all the “little saints” we met and worked alongside this year - Matt & Misty Hedspeth of Hearts Cry Ministry who’s lives are dedicated to the Orphans of Panama (we pray the book we created together will let justice roll down like rain for the little ones), YWAM Panama, Rafael i.e. “Apostle Paul to the Ngobe” who guided us through the mountains to Tugri where the effort is still underway for creating a YWAM base, discipleship training schools and cultural preservation center, everyone at YWAM South Africa, Clinton who gives his heart every day photogenx.net Cape Town, South Africa.

to the people of Capricorn, Patricia a mother to basically all the children in Capricorn and who spends more of her income feeding the neighborhood than herself, Dave & Laura Fisher directors of PhotogenX South Africa and our dear friends, Sandro the ex drug dealer who joins us every week at prayer vigil, Brounwel, Emanuel, Christian, Gift, Dominic, Felicia, Shante, Constance, Roxy and all the other street kids who teach us more than we could ever teach them, ALL OF YOU without whom we would never have met ANY of these other amazing people. Without your prayers, financial commitments, and endless encouragement this “list of thanks” would look very different. In the spirit of thankfulness we also raise up our leaders and coconspirators Paul & Susi Childers, along with everyone else at PhotogenX International. Thank you for letting this be our home and for the amazing examples of love in action that you all are. Also to our parents who walk with us hand in hand, not just across the street anymore, but across the world. Our parents are the most amazing examples of faith any child could ask for. Your words of care and concern, hope and encouragement, wisdom and release mean so much to us. We share all this thanks publicly because you all deserve to be recognized as being a Voice to the Voiceless and for being beautiful people. Isn’t our God amazing? We are learning every day more and more that the more we give of ourselves the more we receive in love and relationships. If we measure this past year in “love”, then surely our cup overfloweth...

- WE PRAY YOU ALL HAVE A BLESSED HOLIDAY -

Prayer Request Yesterday in Capricorn a massive riot

broke out during a taxi driver protest. The Government has created a whole new transit system to serve World Cup 2010 and taxi drivers claim it’s cutting down their lively hood. Yesterday was the biggest clash of violence Capricorn has seen in a number of years as police moved in heavy handed. Join us in prayer for this broken community. Pray for the end of police brutality and for peaceful dialog. Pray for all the kids in our mentorship project who are stuck right in the middle of this nonsense. . .thank you also for

your continued prayer & insight into our own community dynamics. . . we feel them!!!
