    SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. When Lindsey WilsonCollege instructor KristinnaMarowski had her humanservices and counseling stu-dents do a practicum, theytook it to heart. And thanks totheir hard work and imagina-tion, they will help change achilds life.

    On July 31, the students presented a check for$775.25 to Center forCourageous Kids to sponsora child for one week at thenearby camp. The studentsheld a fund-raiser to sponsora child for one week at Centerfor Courageous Kids, aworld-class medical campthat operates solely on dona-tions.

    The students raised themoney by holding bake sales

    plus a massive yard sale onJuly 25 at the LWCScottsville Campus.

    A lot of my students havetalked about how they havehad family members touched

    by cancer, so they decidedthat they wanted to do some-thing to help a child with anillness by sending one to theCenter for Courageous Kids,Marowski said. There is justso much for children there the Center for Courageous

    Kids makes the week a trulymagical experience for achild.

    As part of her practicum,Lindsey Wilson student LisaSowers of Scottsville spent aweek as a counselor at CCK.She was so impressed bywhat she saw at the camp thatshe spent her entire practicumat the center.

    It was just an amazingexperience for me becausethe facilities there are justwondering, Sowers said.Whats great about theCenter for Courageous Kidsis that everything is focusedon the children. Its just won-derful.

    Center for CourageousKids officials said they were

    touched by the LindseyWilson students generosity and they hope it is the start ofa beautiful friendship

    between the two institutions.The fact that Lindsey

    Wilson College has embracedCCK is a testament to their

    belief that their students canmake a difference, saidStormi Murtie, CCK commu-nications director. Their

    fund-raising efforts on ourbehalf will directly impact thebrave children who attend ourcamp as well as provide anice partnership between thecollege and the camp.

    We applaud LindseyWilson College for encourag-ing their students to embracethe idea that it is important togive back to your communityAnd hope the partnership

    between CCK and LindseWilson College will continuefor many years to come.
