Ever heard a song by The Wombats? No?

It‟s probably because they‟re an indie rock band

from way the heck out in the UK. But believe me,

they‟re worth a listen!

“Let‟s Dance to Joy Division” is an upbeat

tune that asks us to „celebrate the irony‟. If

anything should be celebrated, it‟s The

Wombats themselves.

Their sound is essentially a very upbeat

rock band. I‟d recommend them if you want a

song or two that splits the difference between

overbearing death metal and weak, depressing

rock.

The Wombats have certainly proved that

you don‟t need to be whining about your

girlfriend dumping you to make a good song,

and that there‟s nothing wrong with a little

happiness in the world.

are influenced by some of the most

so you there’s no lying that they’re a

really good band. Parachute’s new album,

80’s.

His real name happens to be

Christopher George Latore Wallace.

His other name that he was known

by was Biggie Smalls.

During the 80’s Biggie was out

selling drugs to try and get ahead in

life. One day he saw that music was

his way to shine. So he teamed up

with Puffy to start a new label call

“Bad Boy Records” with Puffy’s help

Biggie really became B.I.G.

Biggie released his debut his first

album in 1994 called “Ready to Die”.

He was then awarded with many

awards and soon after he was known as

The Notorious B.I.G.

Biggie was killed on March, 7 1997 in a

drive-by shooting. The man that shot

him is still unknown.

Biggie is still considered one the

world’s best MC’s.

Elvis Never Quit Trying

Elvis is considered the “King” of rock and roll. Although Elvis was very

talented the quality that made him famous was his persistence. He never

gave up.

In 1953 Elvis went into the study to record two songs. Sam Phillips the

owner of Sun Records was not impressed. Elvis tried again in 1954 when he

recorded two more songs. Again Sam was not interested in this young man.

However, In July of 1954 Elvis was back in the studio singing "That's Alright

Mama" only now at Sam’s suggestion, he had Scotty Moore playing guitar

and Bill Black on bass. Sam finally saw potential and gave Elvis a record

deal with Sun Records.

History of the band The Fray was formed in 2002 by the band members Isaac Slade and Joe King, who

went to school together. The other two members were later on added to the band.

They started off small with doing jam sessions. They later on became more

successful when they started to write their own songs. They released their first four

songs within that year. The collection was called Movement EP. Their next success was when they released their debut album

How to Save a Life, in September of 2005. Since January of 2007 that album

has sold about 2,000,000 copies in the U.S. Their most recent album that was just released in 2008 is called The Fray. This

album has so far sold 300,000 copies.

Awards

They were nominated for

Grammy-Award of best four-piece

piano rock band. Their song “How

to Save a Life” made it in the top

3 of Billboard Hot 100. “Over

My Head” & “You Found Me” were top 15 in the

U.S & Canada. “How to Save a

Life” was certified double platinum

by the RIAA.

She was born on March 1st 1979 in Brooklyn,

New York. Her career started at a very

young age. When she was 5 years old an

agent had spotted her at Manhattan Beach

singing and dancing.

At the age of 12 Lil Suzy had her first

hit, Take Me In Your Arms, which she received

the gold record award. Take Me In Your Arms

was also the Billboards #1 Dance music hit of

the year!

As the years went by she had other

great hits such as: Promise Me, Now And

Forever, and Paradise.

What is so amazing about Lil Suzy is that

when she didn’t like the way her second album

turned out, her and her parents decided to take

control of her career. They started the record

label Empress Records. She was president,

which made her the youngest in the business.

Skinny Jeans Skinny jeans are in fashion at the moment. Especially for the girls. They are like regular jeans but at the bottom of the jeans they get narrow or skinny. You can find these jeans at Wet Seal, Forever 21, and Kohl’s. They cost at most $30. It would depend where you shop. The price would also depend on the brand of the jeans.

Cassette Player Cassette players aren’t used as much. The reason is because the technology has advanced. The main people that would still use cassette players are like our grandparents because their music is on cassettes. Our generation now has iPod’s. Prices for cassette players are between $10 and $149 at Wal-Mart.

Sneakers Sneakers aren’t really in because now there are many types of gym shoes. Everyone wants to be “in” with the style so most buy the new shoes that come out. Old sneakers aren’t really seen now. They are hard to find and know how much they cost.

Bellbottom Pants Bellbottom pants are like the opposite of skinny jeans. Instead of getting narrow from the bottom, they get wider. Bell bottom pants are hard to find in stores. They were “in” in the 70’s.

The Beatles are originally from England, Liverpool in

the 1960s. These popular bands become so famous

that the whole world heard their songs. It’s ironic

that a band that was form in England sold more cd’s

in the US. The Beatles were a rock and pop group. In

the band, the members were John Lennon, Paul

McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Their

greatest hits where “Love Me Do” and “I Want to

Hold Your Hand”. Their most famous album is

“Please Please Me”. The Beatles sold between 600

million and one billion records internationally. The

Beatles were collectively included in Time

magazine's list of The Most Important People of the

20th Century. According to the Recording Industry

Association of America, they have sold more albums

in the United States than any other artist.

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked them

number one in its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All

Time, and four of their albums appeared in the top

ten of the magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All

Time list. According to that same magazine, The

Beatles' innovative music and cultural impact helped

define the 1960s, and their influence on pop culture

is still evident today. In 2008, Billboard magazine

released a list of top-selling Hot 100 artists to

celebrate the chart's fiftieth anniversary, with The

Beatles at number one. One interesting fact is that

the Beatles had a Guru. Today after more than a

decade past the Beatles are still popular.

Old School Computers Although mechanical examples of computers have existed through much of recorded human history,

the first electronic computers were developed in the mid-20th century (1940–1945). These were

the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers.

The ability to store and execute lists of instructions called programs makes computers extremely

versatile, distinguishing them from calculators.

Laptops The laptop is are personal computers designed for mobile use and small, and light enough to sit on

one's lap while in use. The laptop integrates most of the typical components of a desktop computer,

pointing stick), speakers, and often including a battery, into a single small and light unit. The

rechargeable battery (if present) is charged from an AC adapter and typically stores enough energy

to run the laptop for two to three hours in its initial state, depending on the configuration and

power management of the computer.

The word is derived from mixed Latin and Greek roots, meaning "far sight": Greek tele, far, and

Latin visio, sight. Commercially available since the late 1930s, the television set has become a

common communications receiver in homes, businesses and institutions, particularly as a source of

entertainment and news.

Internet

The origins of the Internet reach back to the 1960s when the United States funded research

projects of its military agencies to build robust, fault-tolerant and distributed computer networks.

The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standardized

Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks

that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local

to global scope that are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, and other

technologies. The Internet carries a vast array of information resources and services, most notably

the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to

MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a patented digital audio encoding

format using a form of lousy data compression. It is a common audio format for consumer audio

storage, as well as a de facto standard of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback

of music on digital audio players. MP3 is an audio-specific format that was designed by the Moving

Picture Experts Group as part of its MPEG-1 standard.Kane Kramer is a British inventor and

business man. He is credited with the initial invention of the digital audio player which led the way

to Apple Inc.'s popular iPod music player. Kane Kramer designed one of the earliest digital audio

players, which he called the IXI.

IPods

IPod is a brand of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple and launched on October

23, 2001. As of September 9, 2009, more than 220,000,000 iPods had been sold worldwide, making

it the best-selling digital audio player series in history. Apple's hardware engineering Chief Jon

Rubinstein assembled a team of engineers to design the iPod line, including hardware engineers Tony

Fadell and Michael Dhuey, and design engineer Jonathan Ive. The product was developed in less

than one year and unveiled on 23 October 2001. Jobs announced it as a Mac-compatible product

with a 5 GB hard drive that put "1,000 songs in your pocket”.

Adan “”Chalino” Sanchez was born April 14, 1984

in Torrence, California. Adan started singing at an early

age. He inherited his voice from his father Chalino

Sanchez, whom was also a famous Mexican corridista

singer. Adan lost his father at the age of 8 and faced this

world with his mother Maricela and his younger sister

Cynthia. Adan wanted to follow his father’s footsteps and

finish what he had barely began; a famous and talented

career. He recorded his first cd in the year of 1995 entitled

“Dios Me Nego” (God Denies Me). He started to gain many

fans in the United States because of the voice he had and

the humbleness that he had.

Adan always remembered his father. In every

album he recorded his father name was mentioned. He

shared the pain of losing his father with many of his fans

throughout his songs.

In March of 2004 Adan reached one of his many goals. He held

a concert in the Kodak theatre in Los Angeles, where thousands of

people attended Sadly, a few weeks later on March 27, 2004 Adan died.

The tires of the car he was traveling on exploded and he instantanely

died due to the fact that he was not wearing a seatbelt. This broke the

heart of many of his fans.

Adan has been recognized all over L.A. A statue was built in his

honor at the Lincoln Park and the radio stations have recognized his last

video “Me canse de Morir Por tu Amor”. Also, his last recording before

his death, “Un Sonador” has sold millions of copies. Adan will always be

remembered and will be in his true fans heart.

One of the latest wireless technologies that has recently come out is the Samsung cell phone.

This cell phone is great. It has an 8 megapixel camera, digital zoom, video, FM radio, and best of

all is an I-touch phone. This means that no more need in pressing buttons in your phones. You

just simply touch the screen on your phone, and you are already communicating with your

loved ones. It is available at your closest cell phone store and online.

Airplane

Airplanes have been the most used type of transportation ever since they were invented.

Airplanes are just great for traveling from one place to another in a matter of hours. You travel

one day, and that same day, hours later you are at your desired destination. Airplanes are great

because you are able to take your baggage, and you don’t even have to worry about carrying

them with you on your whole trip. Airplanes are fast and are more comfortable than any other

available type of transportation. It cost you a little bit more, but is worth it. You could call your

travel agency to reserve your spot in an airplane.

OLD TV

These old televisions have been around for more than 100 years now! They are really old and

heavier than the new television we now have. Some are laid on the floor and others are

displayed on a table. These are the kind of televisions that your grandparents might have!

Traveling Buses

Most people prefer to travel on buses because they are less expensive than an airplane. Yes,

that is true. Traveling buses are good for you if you are not in a hurry to get to a place and if you

don’t want to spend a lot of money when you travel. Traveling buses are also good if you decide

you want to stop by many other places before your destination. They are not as comfortable as

an airplane, but you get to watch a television and get to see the beautiful surroundings that are

around you at that time.

Have you heard the newest

music??? If you haven’t you

must check out the new artist

called Mr. Rapguense. Mr.

Rapguense began this new

genre in 2007 when he went to

Mexico to visit. While visiting

Mexico he noticed that many

people of the young

generation in Mexico were

dressing up with an urban/hip

hop look. He wondered what

type of new genre he could

create that could include this

type of image that would

attract the young

generation??? So he decided

that he would create

Rapguense. This is a genre that

includes Rap and the Mexican

genre Durangense. Through

the two years Mr. Rapguense

along with his partner Dj Payito

have accomplished a lot.

They have accomplished a

number of things together. Mr.

Rapguense is currently

performing at Competitions/

Anniversaries of many

Quebradita clubs. He recently

won a competition in where

he was able to participate

September 13, 2009 a few

days before the Mexican

Independence Parade. He

gladly took the victory and is

planning to have the music of

the young generation be

heard. Proudly many people

have shown support to him

and I can include myself as

well. His upcoming

performance is this Sunday at

a churches Kermes on 44th

and California on the South

Side of Chicago.

This short dress is an in style must have that is short and very elegant. even if it’s for a formal occasion or a semi formal occasion this dress would be a perfect dress to impress the guests with. You can find this dress for $75 or up. Pumps really stylish and in. perfect for going out on the town. Or you can just wear them for a one day look. The scarves are used differently now. Mostly for a cool kid look that we prefer. Very pricey at times but if you want you can get them on the internet for a lower price then wasting so much money on a scarf at a store.

Have you seen the dress?????? Its something no one now a day’s knowing us teens will want to wear … The boots are so out this season and have been for a while…. Scarf for the cold is one thing and scarf for an accessory is another don’t you think???

years old with her brother A.B & sister Suzette

Quintanilla. She began her singing career

singing in her father’s restaurant and

progressed from there. Selena was named

“Female Artist of the Year” for 9 years in a row

“Dreaming Of You” sold in 1 day what Mariah’s

Quinceañera

This celebration marks the fifteenth birthday of a young Hispanic woman. Much

like a mix between the Bat Mitzvah and a Sweet Sixteenth celebration this can be a very

big event. Its traditional for the young woman celebrating her fifteenth to pick out a very

elegant ball gown dress for the occasion. She’ll also carry a bouquet of flowers. The

friends and family members will also dress up for the quinceanera, but the birthday girl

can’t be outshined by anyone.

Old 15 Dresses were long sleeved, extremely puffy, and the colors were not at all

bright. The dress designs were just plain.

New 15 Dresses are either strapless, short sleeved, or spaghetti strapped. They are

also in various colors with a lot more decorations.

Cell phones

Old cell phones looked like bricks, they were heavy, and had no camera.

Everything was buttons.

New cell phones are touch and are also less heavy. The cell phones nowadays

are flat and include internet and MP3 player

Tattoos & Piercings

Back then tattoos and piercings were looked at bad, and later on became a

trend.

Nowadays tattoos are found on professional and even mothers. Today tattoos

& piercings are way more than just a trend, it’s a normal thing.

to watch. Fans of Pirates of the Caribbean will enjoy this movie.

Day 26 In Diddy’s show, Making the Band 4, Day 26 was the

band that won the competition and got signed to Diddy’s record label. The name of their band is Day 26 because on August 26, 2007 was when they won their competition. This was the time when they went from

being unknown to being stars. The band members, Robert Curry, Brian Andrews, Willie Taylor, Michael

McCluney, and Qwanell Mosley, are famous for their R&B style of music. Qwanell is the baby of the group, Brian is the one with the temper, Willie is the oldest

and the “I know how to do it all” guy, Mike is the mediator, and Robert is the rebel of the group.

Day 26’s most popular album, Forever in a Day, consisted of some of their most popular songs: Stadium Music, Imma Put it on Her, and So Good. In 2008, they were

awarded digital download of the year for their song Got Me Going. In 2008 they won the award of best group at the BET Awards. They will be performing in Chicago on

October 19, 2009 at the House of Blues.

The TV show is on every Monday night at 8pm on Channel 9: The CW. It’s a soap opera that teenagers can relate to because of all the drama in it.

Small Purses

Women these days are seen carrying around larger purse, like totes or hobo bags. Small purses are only really used for fancy events or business type events.

Tie-Dye

Tie-dye is so from the seventies, and the seventies are not in. It’s too messy, and the latest styles aren’t about being messy.

Eighties Music

It’s all about R&B and Hip-Hop. Not about dance music, and that’s what the eighties was all about. You won’t find eighties music blasted at a top night club. Dawson’s Creek

It’s the old school version of One Tree Hill or Gossip Girl. There isn’t a channel that plays it anymore because it isn’t popular to teenagers these days.

Sean Daley, also known as Slug, began the hip-hop group called Atmosphere back in the late 90s. Atmosphere had consisted of many members, but today Sean is the main MC and Ant is the producer of the group. Being an underground group, Atmosphere’s music is classic. It is a mixed between poetry and inventive beats. One of their most popular albums is God Loves Ugly, which came out in 2002.
