2009 NFL DRAFt The Atlanta Falcons hold seven picks in the 2009 NFL Draft held at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday April 26. Atlanta will make two selections on the first day (first round, 24th overall and second round 55th overall). On Sunday, the Falcons will make their last five selections, including two picks in the fifth round. Last season, General Manager Thomas Dimitroff, Head Coach Mike Smith and Owner & CEO Arthur Blank conducted their first draft together and pieced together a class which provided tremendous results. Three rookies last season, including QB Matt Ryan, OT Sam Baker and LB Curtis Lofton all earned the starting job at their respective positions while another four first-year players saw significant action (WR Harry Dougals, CB Chevis Jackson, DE Kroy Biermann and S Thomas DeCoud) as Atlanta posted an 1 1-5 record and earned its first playoff berth since 2004. Last year, the League changed the draft format as rounds one and two are held on the first day.
