Twenty-seven years ago, in 1982, Hal and Jimmie Lou Jacobs encouraged First BaptistChurch Naples to establish a scholarship fund to help young people fulfill Gods call on theirlife to vocational Christian service. Hal served 17 years as Chairman of the ScholarshipCommittee for seminary & college students until his death in May 1999. Scholarships havebeen awarded to 88 men and women who attended or are now attending seminaries,universities, colleges, and Bible colleges across the USA and Hungary. While our currentrecipients prepare to serve, many former recipients are now serving Christ in churches andother ministries in the following capacities:

Pastor; Associate Pastor; Youth Minister;Minister of Music; Christian School Teacher;

Christian Psychologist; Counselor; Evangelist;

Missionary; Missionary Doctor; Missionary Nurse

Gods call to vocational Christian service has been reaffirmed to our recipients throughGods Word in scriptures like:

How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

And how can they preach unless they are sent. Romans 10:14,15

He said to them, Go into all the world andpreach the good news to all creation. Mark 16:15

CHRISTIAN VOCATION SCHOLARSHIP FORSEMINARY AND COLLEGE STUDENTS

Scholarships are currently available to students completing a Bachelors or Masters degreewhile pursuing a vocational call to ministry in the following areas: Pastor, Associate Pastor(Pre-School, Children, Students, Adults, Music & Worship), Biblical Counseling, Evangelism,and Missions.

Criteria for selection and Requirements of all scholarship recipients:

Current recipients of this scholarship who wish to continue receiving assistance mustreapply each year. Notify the committee chairperson, by January 31, 2009 of yourintent, and you will be contacted when the Application To Reapply is ready.

Deadline to apply for a 2009-2010 scholarship is May 1st, 2009.

Scholarships will be awarded to those students currently enrolled, or enrolling, in aSouthern Baptist Seminary, then to applicants in Southern Baptist universities orcolleges, then to schools approved by the Baptist church.

Applicant must be a member, in good standing, of First Baptist Church Naples at thetime of first application. Dual membership is recommended between FBCN and a localchurch near your school. Students completing college courses in the Naples area willcontinue their church ministry involvement at FBCN.
