SAP-SWIFT relationship and benefits

SAP-SWIFT strategic relationship

Leo Apotheker, co-CEO of SAP and former SWIFT employee, initiated the SWIFT-SAP relationship, and signed the global strategic partnership agreement with SWIFT in October 2006.

SAP decided to develop a standard SAP ERP Financials payment management product to enable corporations to connect to the SWIFT network utilizing the SAP NetWeaver platform.

How does this partnership create benefits?

The product provides SAP ERP customers with SWIFT compatibility for the most popular financial payment message types.

Since SWIFT functionality is natively integrated with the SAP application running in a NetWeaver environment, customers do not need to buy a third party middleware and business application to access SWIFTNet, resulting in reduced TCO and simplified deployment.

SAP Bank Communication Management offers extensive workflow automation, authorization management, exception handling and other capabilities in a fully automated platform for financial messaging with SWIFT and banks.

A standard SAP solution

The SAP solution is a component of the SAP ERP Financials application – solutions covered by SAP’sstandard maintenance and support.

The product was developed with significant input from joint customers worldwide, and was piloted successfully.
