Hear stories from the Greeks, the Navajo, and NASA! The Well School 10:30 – 11:00 Students of The Well School’s 4th through 7th grades present a musical performance. Papa Joe, storyteller 11:00 – 11:30 & 1:30 – 2:00 “We are Stardust – You’re the Star” – Here’s a chance to be a show with the Traveling Teller, Papa Joe. With our Art we’ll travel far. Come on in. You’ll be the star. ConVal Drumline 12:00 – 1:00 The ConVal Drumline will march in the parade, finishing on the stage in Putnam Park. They perform a variety of material, ranging from standard marching cadences to funky street beats, and finish off with a complex show style piece entitled “Max”. Lamy’s Black Belt Academy 1:00 – 1:30 Students from Lamy’s Black Belt Academy will perform a martial arts demonstration which will show various aspects of martial arts, including self-defense, kicking and more. Audience members can learn some basic martial arts skills and how to break a board. ConVal Fusion Band 2:15 – 2:45 A student run ensemble from ConVal High provides a look into the modern big band. Fusion Band is a smaller ensemble containing about half the number of players one would see in a full big band, as well as a complete rhythm section. Their music will range from modern swing, funk and rock tunes, as well as a couple of classics. MONADNOCK CENTER FOR HISTORY AND CULTURE Flying Rockets 10:00-3:00 Stop by the Monadnock Center for History & Culture tent and create your own flying rocket! Come color your own rocket, add propulsion and watch it fly! Nappy’s Puppets – “Shadows Around the World” 9:45 – 10:30 For thousands of years, man has manipulated puppets for ceremony, religion, education, therapy and entertainment. Of the many forms of puppetry, the most magical and cinematic is shadow puppetry. “Shadows Around the World” explores the history of shadow puppetry and its development throughout the world. Come on a trip around the globe as we travel to China, Turkey, Indonesia, England, France and Russia among other destinations. Peterborough Elementary School 1st Grade Shadow Puppets 10:45 – 11:15 Come see shadow puppets with Mrs. Mann’s PES first grade. Tanglewood Marionettes – “Perseus and Medusa” 1:15 – 2:00 & 2:30 – 3:15 In Tanglewood Mari onettes’ exciting retelling of this classic Greek myth, Perseus will visit many magical places in his quest to defeat the Gorgon Medusa. Will Perseus prevail, or will he fall victim to the snaky-haired Medusa of the petrifying gaze? Join us as we travel back in time to the dawn of civilization, to the ancient world of gods, goddesses, legends and heroes. Recommended for children 6 and up. Solar Viewing with the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center 9:30 – 10:00 & 1:00 – 1:30 Safely observe the sun with us! Peer through our solar telescopes and decorate solar viewing glasses to use during the upcoming solar eclipse on August 21st, 2017. Ukulele Sing-a-Long 10:00 – 10:30 Ukulele fun in the park! Join the sing-a-long or sit back and enjoy the show. The Comet Show by the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center 10:45 – 11:30 & 1:30 – 2:15 Explore what a comet is made of, and where they come from, through interactive and exciting activities and demonstrations. The grand finale involves a student volunteer making a spectacular model of a comet using dry ice, syrup and cookies. UNITARIAN CHURCH Pancake Breakfast in the dining hall 8:00-10:00 The Unitarian Church hosts a pancake breakfast. Adults - $5, children under 12 - $3. Cheshire Cats Jump Rope Team 11:30 – 12:00 The Cheshire Cats are a competitive jump rope team from the Keene Rec Center, currently composed of 7–14 year olds. Come watch us perform individual and double-dutch skills, and then participate to learn some new tricks yourself! Folk Soul Band 12:00 – 1:00 The Folk Soul Band brings upbeat and lively music to the parade, rooted in the New Orleans folks culture. Morris Dancers and Sword Team 1:00 – 2:00 With their swords and sticks and their bells and wild costumes, “Jack in the Green,” “Midnight Rapper,” and “Firebird” teams will perform festive Morris and Sword dances from England. The dances are as old as the Druids and as young as yesterday, and they are guaranteed to bring you good luck for a year and a day! They will also be joined by the ConVal sword team. Wendy Keith and Her Alleged Band 2:00 – 3:00 Wendy Keith, Doug Farrell, Jack Carlton and Walden Whitham have played music in the Monadnock Region for years. Their brand of Americana, Blues, Gospel, Original, and rhythmic music is infectious for all ages. Multiple harmony vocals ring with 15 instruments including Celtic Harp, dobro, lap steel, dobro, bass, sax, penny whistle, clarinet….
