STEP 1: Complete the School Affiliated Club (SAC) form from the USFS website. Select one of the competitors’ parents as team contact. Team contact information will be recorded by the USFS. A check for $30 is required to activate and renew an SAC membership. Club protocol varies from school to school, however, the USFS allows a team of one competitor to apply for an SAC membership.
STEP 2: Modify the Sample Club Proposal Document to reflect the names of the School Administration and other information pertinent to your respective high schools.
STEP 3: Plan a meeting with School Administrators for the purpose of presenting the proposal to form a School Affiliated Club. Include Insurance documents from the USFS website as part of your presentation packet.
STEP 4: The goal of attaining approval for the School Affiliated Club requires persistence in order to attain a signature from the School Administrators. Insurance documents as per the USFS website are an important component of the presentation packet. Review your USFS individual membership document for insurance information, also. The process may include requests for additional information from the USFS, from the New Jersey Council of Figure Skating Clubs, from your local school experts and/or from your local Board of Education.
STEP 5: Send the signed SAC document along with a check for $30 to the USFS headquarters. The USFS requires approximately one week upon receipt to activate a membership. A certificate will be issued by the USFS containing the name of your high school and will be sent to the team contact as listed on the USFS School Affiliated Club form.
