Several years ago a best selling book was written calledGood to Great which talked about how organizations, such as our school, transition from being an average schoolto a great one. One key discipline from this book was thatgreat organizations focus on making sure they have theright “who, driving where they want to go.”

For the past two years in the absence of a Head of School,WCCS was blessed with a transitional leadership teamheaded by Sandi Jolly, Educational Administrator, andJohn Gabrenas, Operational Administrator. They did anoutstanding job of keeping their hands on the rudder todirect WCCS forward. They never lost sight of our missionto “partner with Christian parents, to provide an excellent,Christ-centered education” in the challenging seas a Christianschool has to navigate.

During an extensive search, the board continued toprayerfully focus on seeking God’s will to reveal the right“who” for WCCS, and the Lord directed us to Ray Caseyas our new Head of School. Recognizing WCCS has beenblessed with Ray as the right “who” to drive, the boardwill continue to move toward partnering with the school community to make sure we refine “where we are going.”

This direction will continue to be developed with several key initiatives outlined in our on-going Strategic Plan. Two of thecornerstone principles from this plan will be making Christ preeminent in all we do at WCCS, and educating our studentsto achieve God’s calling for each of their lives.

Proverbs 22:6 states, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it”. As WCCS continuesto move toward being the great school God wants for our community, we ask for your continued prayerful partnership.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we thank you for your financial support, talents, time, and dedication to committing toan education that will last a lifetime. We have been entrusted with much and understand the great responsibility to partnerwith you in the eternal education of your children.

In Christ,

WCCS Board of Trustees

Indian ClubThe Indian Club, our athletic booster club, had another great year thanks to our WCCS families. Membership dues totaledover $12,000 and the Indian Club contributed over $38,000 to athletics. Some Indian Club accomplishments included devotionbooks for coaches, medical supplies, footballs, volleyballs, crosscountry stop watches, swimming banner, basketballs, baseballequipment, soccer balls and golf rentals just to name a few! Theyalso had a work day and made major improvements to our baseballfield. Check out the new banners. GO INDIANS!

PTF (Parent/Teacher Fellowship)The PTF had a wonderful year working with the WCCScommunity. Through the fundraising efforts of the fall festival andcookie dough sale, they were able to provide $5,000 toward newequipment and improvements for the Westminster campusplayground. In addition, the PTF provided ice cream at OpenHouse, hosted Parent Education night, provided lunches and snacksduring Teacher Appreciation Week, and worked with administrationto provide refreshments at “Meet the Headmaster” and “Town Hall”Meetings.

Grandparent’s DayWe had nearly 200 Grandparents come out in April to enjoyGrandparent’s Day on the Catawba campus. The keynote speakerwas Reverend Delbert Regier, a WCCS grandparent. OurGrandparents are GREAT and make up nearly 40% of our donorbase at WCCS! Go Grandparents!

Mission TripOver $50,000 was raised to send our students to the DominicanRepublic for their third overseas mission trip. On June 7-18, a groupof 25 students and 7 adults went to the Fountain of Life Schoolin the small town of Juan Tomas. The team built abasketball court, painted 15 classrooms, taught Englishclasses in the evening, ran a 5 day VBS and workedon a milk house. We’ve enjoyed partnering with Pauland Linda McMillan over the last 3 years and hopeto continue encouraging and serving them for yearsto come. Thanks for all your support and prayers! Buy-A-BrickOur Buy-A-Brick program raised $1,300 to help withthe remaining capital campaign expenses. This is stilla great way to “make your mark” on the Catawbacampus for decades to come! Contact the DevelopmentOffice at (803)328-5472 for more information.
