The Vermont Catamounts closed out the regular ranked third in the Ski Racing Magazine Power Rankings: 1. Utah; 2. Colorado; 3. Vermont; 4. Dartmouth; 5. New Mexico As a program, UVM won four of six carnivals this season, including earning its 32nd EISA Championship. The Catamounts averaged 922.8 points on the EISA Circuit this season. The UVM men’s alpine team swept the podium six times on the EISA Circuit. The Catamounts went 1-2-3 in both events at the Bates and Dartmouth Carnivals and swept the slalom races at UNH and Williams. A Catamount took first place in 15 of the 24 alpine races on the EISA Circuit this season. 2012 NCAA SKI NOTESUVM is one of five schools to qualify 12 skiers for the event and one of two easternsquads (Dartmouth) to send a full team to the NCAAs.

The Vermont Catamounts closed out the regular ranked third in the Ski RacingMagazine Power Rankings: 1. Utah; 2. Colorado; 3. Vermont; 4. Dartmouth; 5. NewMexico

As a program, UVM won four of six carnivals this season, including earning its 32ndEISA Championship. The Catamounts averaged 922.8 points on the EISA Circuit thisseason.

The UVM men’s alpine team swept the podium six times on the EISA Circuit. TheCatamounts went 1-2-3 in both events at the Bates and Dartmouth Carnivals andswept the slalom races at UNH and Williams.

2012 NCAA SKI NOTES CONTINUED ...The women’s Nordic team had a winner in six of the races this season and CaitlinPatterson, Lucy Garrec and Amy Glen swept the podium in the classic race atDartmouth.

Among the 12 skiers, four will be making their NCAA debuts ... Vermont is sendinga full compliment of 12 skiers to the NCAAs for the second straight year … TheCatamounts have won five national titles in the NCAA era, the last coming in 1994... The last time the NCAA Ski Championships were held in Bozeman, Mont. UVMfinished sixth (2008) ... Vermont’s best finish in Bozeman was second in 1983.

AS A FRESHMAN (2012): Was named the EISA Alpine Rookieof the Year and was the EISA GS Points Leader in 2012 ...Farrell, who will make his first NCAA appearance next week, won his first collegiate race, the GS, at the season-opening Bates Carnival. Heearned a spot on the podium in each of the first four races of the year and seven times overall.

PERSONAL: Comes to Vermont from the Mount Mansfield Ski Academy ... Is the son of former Vermont baseball standout Jim Farrell '82 whois in the UVM Athletic Hall of Fame ... Spent two post-graduate years skiing independently on the FIS Eastern Cup Circuit, winning an overallchampionship in 2011.

He won both the giant slalom and slalom at the UVM Carnival on the samehill where he will compete on in the NCAAs ... Nordbotten finished the year as the points leader in the GS among EISA skiers.

BEFORE VERMONT: Nordbotten was a two-year member of the Jr. National Ski Team and a five-year member of the Norwegian National Team… Placed first at the Norwegian National Championship in the slalom in 2010.
