INTRODUCTION

REPORT INTRODUCTION COMMENTS:

At the request of Mr. John Customer representing Boat Rental LLC , the prospective buyer of a Meridian 391 , a

2006 40 foot power boat, I agreed to conduct a pre-purchase and valuation survey. I arrived at the vessel's locationon

December 20th 2013 at 7:30 AM. Mr. Customer arrived at 2:00 PM. The vessel was located at Hinckley Yacht

Services located at 2400 Mechanics Ave, Savannah, GA 314041. The survey was conducted from 7:30 AM to 3:30

PM.

The weather on the day of the survey was warm with partly cloudy skies. Moisture readings were taken of the

vessel with a calibrated Model GRP 33 Marine Moisture Meter.

DC power was made available during the survey to the vessel. AC power was not available from the ships shore

power and was checked using the vessels onboard generator. The vessel's twin diesel engines were started and

operated during the sea trial.

During a vessel's survey the mandatory standards promulgated by the United States Coast Guard (USCG),

under the authority of title 46 United States Code (USC), Title 33, and Title 46, Code of Federal

Regulations (CFR), and the voluntary standards and recommended practices developed by the American

Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) have been used as

guidelines in the conduct of this survey. Findings in the summary pages of this survey reflect conditions

observed at the time of survey.

The following terms and words have the following meanings as used in this report of survey:

APPEARS - Indicates that a very close inspection of the particular system, component, or item was not

possible due to constraints imposed upon the surveyor (e.g. no power available, inability to remove panels,

or requirements not to conduct destructive tests).

FIT FOR INTENDED SERVICE - Service for which is intended by Survey Purchaser (present or

prospective owner).

ADEQUATE - Sufficient for a specific requirement.

POWERS UP - Power was applied only. This does not refer to the operation of any system or component

unless specifically indicated.

EXCELLENT CONDITION - New or like new.

GOOD CONDITION - Nearly new, with only minor cosmetic or structural discrepancies noted.

Weather Conditions: Clear & dry, temperature was 84 degrees.

How Survey Conducted: The vessel was surveyed both while afloat & hauled out of the water.

Sea trail: A sea trial was performed as part of this survey. The results are included in the Sea

Trail section.

Electrical Systems

Checked:

AC shore power was not available due to dock side electrical issue, onboard

generator was used to check AC electrical systems. DC power was used to check

DC electrical systems.

Moisture Checks: The Electrophysics moisture meter, Model GRP33 was used for moisture readingsreferenced in this report.

Surveyor Qualification: The surveyor is a member of SAMS (Society of

Accredited Marine Surveyors), and a Certified

Standards Technician with ABYC (American

Boat and Yacht Council)

Vessel Description: The Meridian 391 is a sedan bridge motor yacht. She is forty feet eleven inches in

length overall and is thirteen teen feet eleven inches at her widest breadth. The

vessel draws three feet three inches and weighs 25,000 pounds. The boat is

powered by twin Cummins 5.9 Litre three hundred eight horse power turbo diesel

inboard engines. The design is a sedan bridge with the cockpit helm above the mainsalon. The vessel features a master stateroom and quest stateroom forward. A head

is on the port side and stand up shower with sink on the starboard side. The galley

featuring a two burner electric stove, microwave/convection oven and stainless

steel sink is on the port side. The U shaped dinette is on the starboard side seating

six adults and in a raised setting. The main salon features an L shaped leather sofa

Standards Followed: This survey was completed using as reference the federal regulations and

amendments issued and enforced by the United States Coast Guard under the

authority of Title 33 and Title 46 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations

(CFR's). In addition the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and National

Fire Protection Association (NFPA-302) voluntary standards were used as

reference during the survey. These ABYC and NFPA voluntary standard practices

are generally followed by most vessel manufacturers today.

Comments: All systems and components inspected and described herein are considered

serviceable and/or functional except as indicated in the survey report and

recommendations section. Electronic devices and instruments were checked for

power up only - not for functionality. If a component is not identified in this

report, it was not inspected.

thru hull fittings are adequately secured and sealed to hull.

Rub Rail:

Rub rail is stainless steel on aluminum backing. Rub rail is in excellent condition.

Hull Cosmetics: Hull cosmetics are in good condition-minor nicks and scratches.

Moisture/Delamination:

All moisture meter readings on side hull near the water line and surrounding thru

hull fittings were relatively dry with normal comparative moisture meter readings.

Thermal Images

No anomalies were sighted when scanned using a FLIR thermal camera.

Condition Summary: Above Average Condition.

HULL BOTTOM

Construction Material:

Fiberglass, with molded in prop pockets.

Bottom paint: Numerous areas of flaking bottom paint noted -- RECOMMENDATION: Remove

all loose flaking paint, prep and repaint with fresh bottom paint before next launch.

Osmotic blistering: No evidence of blisters was found on hull bottom during bottom inspection.

Blister Comments: Blisters are an unknown factor on all boats and if not currently present, there is no

guarantee that they will not appear in the future. Blisters have a tendency to dry

out over winter storage unless severe or large. Blisters (if any) best appear after

vessel has been in water for an entire season. In addition, the symptomatic

evidence of blistering can be obscured by bottom coatings, a dry storage period

during which blisters spontaneously depressurize, bottom laminate sanding, and

other conditions or actions. Recommend full inspection for blisters immediately

after haul-out and power wash. Surveyor has no firsthand knowledge of the history

of bottom maintenance, blistering, repairs or prophylactic coatings on this vessel.

Moisture/Delamination: Moisture meter readings not taken since the type of bottom paint used would

provide false moisture readings. Percussion hammer testing showed no evidence ofany delamination on hull bottom.

Grounding damage:

None noted.

Strainers/Scoops/Screens:

All strainers/screens are well secured to hull bottom. Some debris & zebra mussels

located on screen.

Transducers:

Transducer for speed and depth is adequately sealed and bonded to the hull.

Thru Hull fittings:

Mushroom type bronze fittings for all below water line sea cock locations. Well

secured to hull bottom.

Findings: Recommendations:

Hull bottom needs to be sanded and repainted with anti

fouling paint. Screens and transducers needed to be

cleaned.

Have the hull bottom sanded and repainted. Clean all

screens and transducers and cover with anti fouling

paint.

PROPELLER(S)/SHAFT(S) / STRUT(S)

Prop(s) description:

Props have four blades and is made of bronze alloy, Props are in good condition

with no cracks, corrosion or bent, nicked or chipped blades. Prop nuts are secure

and properly locked in place with jam nut and properly cotter pinned.Shaft size / material:

Shafts are sized 2" and made of Stainless steel. No pitting, cracks or corrosionsighted.

Cutless (shaft) bearing(s): Good condition. No play found in cutless bearing.

Strut(s):

Two bronze P-Struts per shaft. Struts appear to be in line. Well secured-no

separation or cracking sighted.


RUDDER(S)

Rudder type:

Bronze, Well secured. No abnormal horizontal or fore/aft movement in rudder.

Rudder alignment/swing: Full rudder swing to both port and starboard shows equal amount of travel.Condition summary: Average Condition.

TRIM TABS, STABILIZERS AND THRUSTER SYSTEMS

Trim tabs:

Bennett single ram hydraulic trim tabs. Power up and function OK. No leaks

sighted.

Bow thruster(s):

Side Power thruster system for both the bow and the stern thruster. Thruster fit

with 5 blades on each side. All blades intact.



Truster blades have bottom growth and need to be

cleaned.

Clean blades on thruster blades.

ANODES

Shaft: None sighted on shafts. Surveyor recommends a collar anode for each shaft

mounted just forward of the V-strut. Besides protecting the shaft from corrosion,

this serves as protection from loss of shaft/prop in case of shaft coupler failure.

Rudder: No.

Trim Tabs: No.

Strut: No.

Hull mounted:

"Camp" anode securely mounted on transom. Poor condition. Anode is wasted.

Bonding: Yes.

Replacement required?: All anodes are deteriorated. RECOMMENDATION: Replace all anodes.

Other Notes: Monitor all anodes frequently and replace when they are no more than 50%

wasted. Anodes are normal replacement items designed to protect the running gear

from electrolysis. Keep spares aboard vessel.


All anodes are deteriorated. Replace all anodes.

Note:Dissimilar metals and

metal alloys have different electrode potentials whentwo or more of these metals exist in the same electrolyte

(such as seawater). When this happens a galvanic

couple can be created and depending upon the nobility

of the metal, one metal will become the anode and

another metal will become the cathode and can form

electrolysis between the two electrodes (the anode and

the cathode). Once the galvanic couple is formed

between the two metals, the anode metal will dissolve

into the electrolyte. This electrochemical reaction is

called galvanic corrosion and can occur on a vessel

below the waterline between two metals that are

different in nobility or charged at different levels.Bonding underwater metals together causes the metals

to remain at the same potential and helps prevent or

slows the galvanic corrosion process.

INTERIOR HULL & STRUCTURAL INSPECTION

HULL INTERIOR & STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS

Hull to Deck Joint: Overlap (Shoe box type), Fasteners sighted were stainless steel bolts spaced

approximately 6" to 8". Appear secure. No leaks sighted thru any part of hull to

deck joint area

Bilge(s):

Clean and dry. NOTE: Whenever you visit your boat, it's good practice to check

the bilge area(s) for higher than normal levels of water or anything else that could

be causing trouble.

Stringers: Hull stiffness provided by FRP covered wooden longitudinal stringers that run the

length of the vessel. Complete inspection not possible due to limited access.

Stringers were sighted in the engine compartment and under cabin sole and are well

glassed into hull where sighted. Stringers sounded with hammer where accessible

and appeared very sound. No soft spots, separation, cracks rotting or splitting

sighted. Limber holes appear to be adequately sealed where sighted. Stringers

checked with Moisture meter where accessible and all readings were relatively

Dry.

Bulkheads: Athwartships reinforcement enhanced by structural bulkheads bonded to the hull

with FRP (fiber reinforced plastic). All tabbing appears serviceable and sound

with no cracks or separation of tabbing sighted in any compartments. No visualevidence of movement sighted in any bulkhead.

Stem: Solid stem, no cracks or separation sighted inside.

Inside of Transom: Reinforced. Secure-no cracks or separation sighted.


ALL THRU HULL FITTINGS

Sea Valves:

The raw water intake / discharge seacocks below the water line on this vessel were

bronze ball valve type seacocks. All seacocks tested on board were properly

secured to the hull. No leaks were sighted at any of the seacock locations. The

seacocks were functional. All of the seacocks that could be sighted on this vessel

were properly bonded.

Sea Valve Condition: All sea valves with the exception of the raw water intake for the air conditioning

unit worked fine. The handle on this single sea valve was stiff and could not be

closed.

Sea Valves Piping: Marine rubber covered reinforced hose.

Sea strainers:

Internal strainer(s) installed for engine raw water, generator raw water, air

conditioner raw water pickup, Sea strainer is clear of debris.

Condition Summary: All sea valves in like good condition and all valves are operable.Note: Tapered

wooden plugs tied to sea valves are an inexpensive safety item and highly

recommended under current ABYC standards.


Air conditioning sea valve handle is stiff and can not be

closed.

Have a qualified marine technician service the sea valve

handle for proper operation.

waterline and a thru-hull tailpiece. This entire system must be understood and

maintained. Bilge pumps may fail at any time. No warranty as to longevity can be

expressed or implied at survey. Tapered wooden plugs tied to seacocks are an

inexpensive safety item and highly recommended under current ABYC standards.Keeping bilges clean and free of debris is a vital part of insuring proper operation.

It is also recommended that each bilge pump be periodically tested by filling the

December 20th, 2013 From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Vessel operated from/to: Endeavour Marine Boat Yard in St Petersburg, FL after the haul out back to the

Savage Yacht Sales docks inb Tampa.

Attendees: Capt. Tom Hulse a licensed captain who piloted the vessel during the sea trial andJ. Chet Stephens the attending surveyor.

Vessel operated by:

SEA TRIAL OBSERVATIONS

Start test: Each engine started properly during the power up phase of the sea trial.

Engine alarms: Engine alarms for the port and starboard motors worked properly during the sea

trial.Max Throttle: Max throttle for the engines were rated between 2800-3060 RPM. During the sea

trial the engines were run at 3050 RPM. The vessel ran at 26.8 knots at 3050 RPM

from both engines. The vessel backed down properly when tested (the gear ratio on

the engines were rated at 1.96:1).

Trim tabs: Both port and starboard trim tabs worked properly when tested and the vessel was

able to get up on plane past 2000 RPM.

Thrusters system: Bow and Stern Thrusters operated properly when directed from all directions.

Steering: Steering worked properly when tested. The vessel steered a complete radius of

approximately 45 feet on the starboard and port turns hard over. Vessel stability

was good during turning.

Throttle levers: The throttles controls worked properly and smoothly during the sea trial.

Transmissions: The transmissions operated normally/smoothly.

Vibrations Vibrations and engine noise were minimal during the sea trial.

Leaks: No leaks were sighted in any of the lines or hull spaces of the vessel.

Generator: Generator output was recorded at 120 Volts and maintained voltage with all air

conditioners running during the sea trial.

Air Conditioner: All air conditioners functioned properly in both heat and cooling modes.

RELATIVE TEMPERATURE READINGS

Engine Temperature

Readings

The engine block temperature readings were measured as the following: Port

engine block 170.7 degrees, Starboard engine block: 168.4 degrees. Temprature

readings were taken with a FLIR thermal camera while underway. Temperature

readings at the helm were consistent with readings taken from the thermal camera.

Water pump: The impeller water pump system worked properly during the sea trial.

Temperature comments: All temperature readings were conducted using a FLIR thermal camera.


The starboard engine briefly overheated during the wide

open throttle test. The temperature came down rapidly

when the captain came off the throttle and returned to

normal operating range.

Have a qualified marine technician inspect exterior raw

water intake screen and internal screen to insure proper

water flow.

PRIORITY II - MAINTENANCE & STANDARDS RELATED RECOMMENDATIONS:

(NOT NORMALLY MANDATORY)These are important maintenance items sighted which in this firm's opinion should be performed. They may also

include recommendations to conform to current ABYC and NFPA-302 voluntary standards which may not have

been in effect or may not have been adhered to by the builder when the vessel was constructed. Some of these, if

not addressed, could lead to a Priority I safety issue and/or may result in a reduced vessel market value.

HULL BOTTOMFindings: Hull bottom needs to be sanded and repainted with anti fouling paint. Screens and transducers needed to be

cleaned.Recommendations: Have the hull bottom sanded and repainted. Clean all screens and transducers and cover with antifouling paint.

ANODES

Findings: All anodes are deteriorated.

Recommendations: Replace all anodes. Dissimilar metals and metal alloys have different electrode potentials when two or more ofthese metals exist in the same electrolyte (such as seawater). When this happens a galvanic couple can be

created and depending upon the nobility of the metal, one metal will become the anode and another metal willbecome the cathode and can form electrolysis between the two electrodes (the anode and the cathode).Oncethe galvanic couple is formed between the two metals, the anode metal will dissolve into the electrolyte. Thiselectrochemical reaction is called galvanic corrosion and can occur on a vessel below the waterline betweentwo metals that are

different in nobility or charged at different levels. Bonding underwater metals together causes the metalsto remain at the same potential and helps prevent or slows the galvanic corrosion process.

SEA VALVES

Findings: Air conditioning sea valve handle is stiff and can not be closed.

Recommendations: Have a qualified marine technician service the sea valve handle for proper operation.

MAIN ENGINE(S)

Findings: Forward inside starboard engine mount shows excessive corrosion.

Recommendations: Have all engine mounts inspected by a qualified marine technician and repair or replace as recommended.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS:These are other less significant maintenance items or observations that if not addressed, could lead to more

important priority issues and/or could lead to a reduced vessel market value. The cost of addressing these

recommendations is generally minimal.

THRUSTERS

Findings: Truster blades have bottom growth and need to be cleaned.Recommendations: Clean blades on thruster blades.

SEA TRIAL

Findings: The starboard engine briefly overheated during the wide open throttle test. The temperature came down rapidlywhen the captain came off the throttle and returned to normal operating range.

Recommendations: Have a qualified marine technician inspect exterior raw water intake screen and internal screen to insure properwater flow.

MAIN DECK AND FITTINGS

Findings: Loose light fixture on the aft deck. Aft deck torn carpet.

Recommendations: Have a qualified marine technician repair the light fixture. Replace aft deck carpet.

In accordance with the request for a marine survey of the 2006 Meridian 391, for the purpose ofevaluating its present condition and estimating its fair market value and replacement cost on the date of the

survey. I herewith submit my assessment based on the preceding report. The vessel was personally

inspected by me (the undersigned) and a sea trial was performed on December 20th, 2013. Subject to the

corrections of the deficiencies listed in the red and green summary page, the vessel will be considered to be suitable

for its intended use. Other deficiencies listed in the blue findings should be attended to in a timely fashion.
