Communication, Literacy and Language
Children will:
- build their fluency in reading using range of strategies, e.g. partner reading, choral reading, individual reading, repeated reading and pupil-adult reading.
- build their fluency in reading by using different word reading techniques.
- build their fluency in reading by using expression and punctuation correctly.
- use the context of a sentence to understand the meaning of unknown words.
- use and punctuate speech with understanding.- discuss writing similar to that which we are planning to write in order
to understand and learn from its structure, grammar and vocabulary.- use conjunctions, adverbs and prepositions to express time, place and
cause in their writing.

unknown words. identify the main ideas drawn from more than one paragraph and summarise these read and become familiar with different types of poetry. read their writing aloud to an audience in an entertaining manner, using
appropriate intonation, tone and volume identify themes and conventions in books. understand the difference between fact and opinion discuss writing similar to that which they are planning to write in order to
understand and learn from its structure, grammar and vocabulary. write for different purposes (a riddle, an argument and a persuasive passage). plan, draft, edit and improve writing. write sentences which contain more than one clause, by using a wide range of
conjunctions, e.g. when, if, because, although. use different strategies to practise spelling. learn, practise, revise and apply their knowledge of prefixes, suffixes and
homophones.
Mathematical DevelopmentChildren will: continue to practise the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. write and calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and
division using known multiplication tables, including use of money and length
recognise, find and write fractions of a discrete set of objects: unit fractions & non-unit fractions with small denominators
recognise and show equivalent fractions with small denominators. compare and order fractions. add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. count up and down in tenths. recognise that tenths arise from dividing an object into ten equal parts
and in dividing numbers or quantities by 10. recognise angles are a property of shape or a description of a turn. identify right angles, recognise that two right angles make a half-turn,
three make three quarters & four a complete turn. identify whether angles are greater than or less than a right angle. tell and write the time from an analogue clock to the nearest 5 minute
interval.

colours to make a secondary colour. design and sketch a fictional creature.
Britishness: Democracy in Britain.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World(Science, History, Geography, ICT)
Children will: identify that humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles
for support, protection and movement. explain how the muscular and skeletal systems in animals work together. identify that animals, including humans, need the right types of nutrition
and that they cannot make their own food; they get nutrition from what they eat.
explore and compare fictional maps (fantasy stories).
