DICO IPCs are compact, modular systems. Powerfulslot CPUs ensure fast working speeds. Thanks to theoptional analogue-resistive hard surface Touch-Screen technology that can be operated while wear-ing gloves it will function even if the membrane isbroken. The front panel is coated in powdered plasticlaminate which is particularly environmentallyfriendly. This protects the computer from aggressivechemicals - and also avoids special waste.

Itgoes without saying that these displays can also beused for the representation of messages in the publicsuch as for instance at airports or vast parking areas.It's because of their solid aluminium enclosure thatthey are weatherproof as well.

Looked at closely the device consists of two unitsinside one enclosure: the PLC and an operator controlpanel with graphics-enabled LCD. Both systems oper-ate from their own 32-bit processors. You can be sure thatthe price/performance ratio will meet all needs. iCon-Vis offers all functions that are state-of-the-arttoday and a great deal more. Those who need to workin other languages can switch over online. The greatadvantage are the transparent data starting from thefield bus further to the guidance system up to thecommercial department.

The software package iCon-PLC from Wöhrle is aninnovative control solution and as PC-based soft-SPCa particularly cost-effective alternative to the classicalSPC. This makes it very easy to develop, test and real-ize control solutions. The programming in step 5,step 7 or IEC 61131-3 is particularly user-friendly. Butthat's not all. Thanks to the integrated open standardinterfaces the communication is free to operate withother visualization programs, soft-SPC and varioussoftware tools.

diCon - Decentralized Intelligent ControllingdiCon - Decentralized Intelligent ControllingDecentralization means to control where the neces-sity exists to control. In other words direct links areallowed between the individual isolated controllers.All the same it must be possible regardless of distrib-uted isolated controllers to centrally produce andsupervise the operational sequence functions. Alsoservice and maintenance interventions must be cen-trally feasible to enable an uniform remote mainte-nance. Finally it applies to avoid communicationlosses and have operation functions worked out bythose who know the process best and to have thedocumentation always updated and at central dis-posal without paper.Now there is a solution that satisfies these require-ments. The new decentralized automation system"diCon" from Wöhrle.

Main part of the new system is a comprehensivemodular automation software. The software runs onan industrial PC that is integrated best in centralplace to the decentralized automation system.Starting from the configuration the IPC can be sim-ply equipped compared with others since the actualprocess functions are realized within the distributedintelligent nodes (diNo). The nodes are made of a computer unit, a communi-cation section as field bus interface and an input-output unit. The field bus connection between theintelligent nodes and the industrial PC is worked outfor multimaster purposes. This is why the individualnodes are able to communicate with each other andthe industrial PC.

During current operation only the functions - visual-ization, diagnostic analysis, after-sales service and ifrequested even the remote maintenance are left tothe industrial PC. If the user wanted to do withoutthese functions the IPC could be uncoupled from thenetwork since the network of the intelligent nodesoperates independently. But at permanent connection of the industrial PC tothe network, the automation system can be involvedto the internet or intranet by use of the IPC. In thisway a composition of automation systems can berealized between one or even several factories andenable a throughout remote maintenance service.
