    ALL THE WORLDS L3NSTERS IThis book is an encyclopedia of the strange, the bizaare, and the deadly. It containscomple te statistics for 65 monstrous and dangerous creatures, created b y dungeon mastersacross the United States and Canada. Each monster is rated fo r hit dice, armor class, move-ment, whether and how well it swims and flies, i ts intelligence range, dexterity, alignment,normal ha bitat, t he probabiZity of i t being present in i ts lair, b y a die roll fo r number pres-ent, the probability of the presence of treasure and its type, how it attacks, and a descrip-t ion of general appearance and special characteristics.     BEAR KODIAKDescriptionThe largest of the bears the Kodiak is so ferocious that itwll fight atfull efficiency so long s t has one-fourth of its hit points left.The Kodiak is a solitary animal; if more than one is found they will beeither a mated pair or a female with cubs. If the cubs are attacked thefemale fights at 2.There is only a 50 chance that the bear wil l hug when it hits a victimwith both paws. The hug begins on the next melee turn and the bearwill continue to hug the victim until he dies loses consciousness or un-til the bear is killed.

    INTRODUCTIONThis is the third printing of the endless book. We originally conceived it to include every mon-ster created by player s to add t o games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Tunnels & Trolls,and the Ar-duin Grimoire. We rapidly realized we couldn do it. Based on the constant increase in new custo-mers for these games, as observed in the hobby shops we frequent. there may he over 500,000people now p laying these and other role-playing gnmes. A t least 50,000 of these players are Dun-geon Masters, Referees, etc.. and every one of them has invented at least one new monster withwhich to scare the gold -lust out of their players'characters.There is no way we can publish on e catalog of 50,000 monsters. Instead we used every monsterfrom those players we con tacted. Even then, we have had to cut and, som etimes, combine enhies.This printinngalso corrects the typo s and exclusio ns of the first edition.Limited as it is, this still is an endless book. The second volume is now out , and at last the third

    i s nearing produ ction (early 1980). We always are looking for move monsters.     INTERPRETING THE MONSTER ENTRIESThe first line of each entry tells what themonster is and under what encounter table it is

    found. This is followed by the name of he per-son who su bmitted the creature-this is the onewho actually developed the specifications, no tnecessanly who nvented it. Original sources arecredited in the description of the m onster.Ranges of numbers are, where possible, ex-pressed as die rolls. The notation used is (num-ber of dice) D (type of dice) (+ or -) (adds)where numberof dice can be a single num beror a range of numbers in parentheses. For in-stance, the Air Squid can have from 6-12eight-sided h it dice and, after the dice are rolled, I isadded to th e total.Armor class is a single num ber, a singie num-ber with additions, or is given as a range of ar-more classes-see Air S quid, Airfang, and SnakeApe. Movement speeds are in units dependingon the map and time scale yo u use. The IQ andDext erity ranges are given as die rolls.Found in tells where the m onsters is V pically found. Ex-actly which ones it uses and how many it usesper turn is up t o the dungeon master. In somecases there is a further explanation of the at-tacks in the narrative descr iption.Finally there follows a description of themonster: what it looks like, its ha bits, and anyspecial vulnerabilities or immunities it mayhave.
