Fado (which means “destiny” in Portuguese) is the

most important genre of popular Portuguese music. It is

usually sung by a fadista and accompanied by a classical

guitar (viola) and a Portuguese guitar.

With its appearance in the 19th century, fado

represented the voice and hopes of people and quickly

developed and gained popularity through Lisbon. In

essence, fado represents the deep emotions of fadistas,

encompassing the misfortunes of love, the longing for

the departed, everyday life and achievements. It was

inscribed on UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage

List in 2011 and has gained worldwide acclamation

ever since.

Carminho is the daughter of fado singer Teresa

Siqueira and fado has been in her life since an early age.

She held her first concert at the age of twelve, and since

then, she has never stopped singing. When Carminho

released her first album Fado in 2009, she said “Being

a fado singer is not my profession, it’s my way of life.”

To Carminho, “fado is the translation of the heart”, even

though people may not understand the lyrics, through

music they will be able to feel her emotion. Released in

2014, her third album, Canto, which received a Platinum

Award, fuses with Brazilian music and presents the

conservative fado in an innovative way.

法多（Fado，葡萄牙文意即“命運”）是葡萄牙

音樂文化中最重要的音樂體裁，一般由一名法多歌者

演唱，以葡萄牙結他（Portuguese Guitar）和古典結

他（Classical Guitar）伴奏。

起源於十九世紀的法多，詠唱著人們的心聲與期

望，它傳達了歌者的個人情感，內容包括愛情的不幸、

對去世之人的思念、日常生活及工作等。這種音樂形式

很快於里斯本流行開來；於2011年，法多更被聯合國

教科文組職列入非物質文化遺產，在國際上備受推崇。

C a r m i n h o的母親是著名法多歌手 T e r e s a

Siqueira。自小便認識法多的Caminho，十二歲起便開

始演唱。她於2009年發行首張個人唱片《法多》，她

稱“法多歌手並不只是我的職業，而是我的生活態

度。”對Carminho來說，法多是心靈的溝通，縱使聽

眾不明白葡萄牙文的歌詞，但憑藉歌聲，皆能感受到

歌者的情感。於2014年她發行第三張個人唱片《歌

唱》，榮獲白金銷量，歌曲加入了巴西的音樂元素，

呈獻一系列傳統與創意兼備的歌曲。

Fado (que significa “destino) é o género mais importante

da música popular portuguesa. Geralmente é cantado por

uma só pessoa (fadista) e acompanhado por guitarra clássica

(nos meios fadistas denominada viola) e guitarra portuguesa.

Com o seu aparecimento no século XIX, o fado

representava a voz e a esperança do povo e, rapidamente,

se desenvolveu se e popularizou por Lisboa. Na sua

essência, canta o sentimento, os desgostos de amor,

a saudade de alguém que partiu, o quotidiano e as

conquistas. Em 2011, foi inscrito na Lista do Património

Mundial Imaterial da Humanidade e tem sido aplaudido

em todo o mundo.

Carminho, é filha da fadista Teresa Siqueira e o fado

corre-lhe, desde cedo, nas veias. Tinha 12 anos quando

subiu ao palco pela primeira vez e nunca mais deixou de

cantar. Carminho lançou o seu primeiro álbum Fado, em

2009, e afirmou que “ser fadista não é a sua profissão. É a

sua forma de vida”. Para Carminho “o fado é a tradução do

coração” porque, mesmo não compreendendo as palavras,

o público é capaz de sentir a emoção da fadista através da

música. Lançado em 2014, o seu terceiro álbum, Canto,

galardoado como disco de platina, reforça a relação da

fadista com a música brasileira e interliga uma apresentação

mais convencional do fado com uma mais criativa.

Carminho是葡萄牙法多的新星，亦是同輩中最

具天份和創意的歌手之一。她的首張專輯《法多》

獲英國雜誌《Songlines》選為2011年度十大最佳專輯

之一。第二張專輯《靈魂》，於2012年發行後旋即榮

登葡萄牙銷售榜榜首，引起世界關注。2012年底，

Carminho完成葡萄牙及世界各地九十多場演出後，

終一圓心願，與米爾頓．納斯克曼多、芝科．布華

奇及娜娜．卡伊米等著名音樂家合作。於2013年，

Carminho獲頒葡萄牙金球獎最佳獨唱及卡洛斯．帕雷

德斯獎的殊榮。

Carminho é a nova estrela do fado português,

considerada uma das vozes mais talentosas e inovadoras

da sua geração.

O seu primeiro álbum, Fado, foi considerado um

dos dez melhores de 2011 pela conceituada revista

inglesa Songlines. O seu segundo álbum, Alma, alcançou

o topo das tabelas de vendas portuguesas aquando

do seu lançamento em 2012 e destacou-se, também,

nos internacionais. Em finais de 2012, após mais

de 90 espectáculos em Portugal e por todo o mundo,

Carminho realizou um antigo sonho e gravou com

Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque e Nana Caymmi.

Em 2013, foi premiada nos Globos de Ouro Portugueses

como a Melhor Intérprete Individual e recebeu o Prémio

Carlos Paredes.

voices of her generation.

Her first album, Fado, was considered one of

the ten best albums of 2011 by the prestigious British

magazine Songlines. Her second album, Alma, topped

the sales chart in Portugal upon its release in 2012 and

also drew international attention. In late 2012, after

more than 90 shows in Portugal and around the world,

Carminho realised an old dream and recorded with

Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque and Nana Caymmi.

In 2013, she was awarded the Golden Globe of Portugal

as the Best Individual Performer and received the Carlos

Paredes Award.
