Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members

Welcome to Week 2 Term 4

    2021 Classes

The Executive and I will soon begin planning for 2021. The composition of classes is a very complex exercise with many factors we need to consider. If you have a specific request regarding class placement for 2021 you need to put this in writing and address it to the Principal. Please note that this request must be supported by a sound educational reason. This must be received no later than Friday 6th November. Please note that this is a request only. The Principal has the final say on the composition of classes. Once classes are formed the only changes I envisage will be from students leaving or enrolling at our school.

Please also note that as this is a K-6 school, any teachers working at this school could be expected to teach anywhere from K-6. Please don’t assume that a certain teacher will be teaching in a particular grade (or Infants or Primary), even though they may have been teaching the same grade or in Infants/Primary for a number of years.

As planning is well under way now for 2021, it is also vitally important that I am aware if you are intending to leave LPS at the end of this year as our staffing decisions are dependent on student enrolment numbers. Please inform the school as soon as possible if this is your intention so as I can continue to organise staffing.

    Kindergarten Transition Program

Schools have been advised that Kindergarten orientation and transition to school can resume for students with strict guidelines. Please see the revised dates below.

Commencement date: Wednesday 4th November 2020 (Week 4)

Finish Date: Wednesday 2th December 2020

Transition Times: From 9.30am (playground drop off) 9:30am to 11:00am (classroom activities)

Students should bring: Morning tea (fruit in a container etc), drink bottle, hat, enclosed shoes and socks (no sandals).

Help us grow Leeton Public School - Tell Them From Me 2020

All parents and carers are invited to complete the 'Tell Them From Me' survey by clicking on the link below. Data from this survey will help decide our future directions by giving the school leadership team a snapshot of what we are doing well and what we can do even better. http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/leetonps20

The ‘Tell Them from Me’ (TTFM) parent survey is your chance to provide feedback and help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, Ipads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey is available for completion now, and will close on Friday 23 October. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated. The data collected and the reports compiled from the survey responses will be instrumental in helping us to identify emerging issues and plan for improvement. A new Strategic Improvement Plan will be developed using the information gleaned from the TTFM surveys, so now’s the time to have your say on what you’d like to see the school focus on in the next few years...

Thank you for your feedback and support of our school.

A massive Book Week is planned for next week at Leeton Public School, highlighted by our Arctic Adventure Book Fair, which hits our School Library from Tuesday, 27th October until Thursday 5th November, 2020.

All classes will visit the Book Fair to provide an opportunity to make wish lists, with sales available online, as well as cash payments (children to bring money to school in a sealed envelope).

    LPS Book Fair Opening Times

Tuesday 27th October 2020 through to Thursday 5th November 2020

Option 1 - Students can purchase books at school with cash during designated times

Option 2 - Students will bring home a wish list with the book name and price. You can use that to follow the pre-payment instructions to make a payment. Students then return the wish list and receipt number to the school office and the books will be sent home

Option 3 - Students will bring home a wish list with the book name and price. You can use that send cash into the school office in an envelope clearly labelled with the child’s name and class to make a payment. The books will then be sent home

With snow much to read, we know the kids will love our Arctic Adventure Book Fair!

    ~ Borambola~

Entering the bus, full of energy for the two days of enjoyment and action at Borambola Sport and Recreation camp. The weather was filled with stunning sunshine for both days that were there.

As soon as we arrived we were seeking and rewarded with a gourmet pizza, that night we awaited our cooked to perfection roast pork with crackle and yummy veggies.

After lunch we enjoyed ourselves a variety of activities. In free play there were all sorts of fun games such as tennis, mini golf, giant chess, ping pong, cricket, stilts, etc.

We were put in groups of 4-5 for the mud run their were different obstacles

The second day after a great night’s sleep we were building and constructing. We had to make something

that carried, pushed or dragged the person sitting in it.

We had wheels, bolts, screws, planks of wood and three lines of rope around 1 metre long. If we needed another piece of material we would have to do a challenge to earn it.

After two astonishing days we were exhausted from our amazing adventure at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre.
