Teams of student volunteers work with us throughout an academic year. The teams are dynamic, energetic and semiautonomous.
The student teams work in their local UK schools to teach development & collect books that would otherwise go to landfill.
We sort all the books, picking the right ones for Tanzania and Uganda. Any books we can’t send we sell or recycle to raise funds.
We take teams of students to Tanzania & Uganda where they deliver the books directly to needy local schools.
READ is a fundamentally student-led, student-delivered model, and we’re very proud of that. Students are key at every stage of the process outlined below. The central RI team supports and guides their progress, and works hard at a global level to facilitate the model.
