Folding and tilting are 2 events that disturb rock layers.
Faults and intrusions are 2 features that disturb rock layers.
The known rock and fossil record is indicated by the geologic column.
Geologist examine the relationship between rock layers and the structures that cut across them in order to determine relative age.
