Pusher centrifuges are applied in manydifferent industrial sectors. Bulk chem-istry, plastics engineering, mining and
minerals, the fibre industry and thefood industry.
Typical applications
Salts such as sodium chloride, sodiumsulphate, ammonium sulphate, potas-sium chloride and potassium sulphate.Plastics such as ABS, MBS, DMT, adipicacid, chlorinated rubbers, melamine,polyamides, polyethylene, polymers,
polypropylene, polystyrene and alsoEPS.
Spectrum of use
The suspension to be separated shouldhave the following properties: easy tofilter, median particle diameter greaterthan 100 m and viscosity of liquidless than 30 cPs.
The solids contents of the slurries to beseparated should ideally be between30 and 75% by weight with crystalline
materials, and between 3 and 12% byweight with fibrous substances.
Pre-thickening is used to fortify theslurry to be dewatered to the bestsolids concentration for the respectiveapplication.
Pusher centrifuge application permitsthroughput rates of up to 100 t/h withcrystalline products, with a residual
moisture of less than 1% in some cases.

Integration in the overall system
To optimise the advantages offered bycontinuous operation it is necessary tofeed the slurry in the highest possibleconcentration and in a uniform man-ner. For this purpose the equipmentconnected upstream is of critical im-portance. Krauss-Maffei Process Tech-nology therefore has a wide spectrumof pre-thickening systems available.Ideally the pre-thickening, centrifuge,solids transport and dryer are incor-porated in one unit.System solutions from Krauss-MaffeiProcess Technology combine high-performance mechanical engineeringwith process technology know-how.

Reliable and effective pusher drive:
For basket diameters of up to 500mm the machines are fitted with a
mechanical pusher drive operatedvia a gear and eccentric. For baskets
with diameters of 630mm upwardsthe pusher drive is carried out viaefficient oil hydraulics.
Fast repair and maintenance
involving minimum downtimes:
In machines fitted with basket dia-meters from 630 mm all rotating
parts are combined in a cartridge.This can be easily replaced with the
spare cartridge. Any necessarymaintenance work can then becarried out in the workshop with
minimum disruption.
Quick and easy assembly:
Installation is carried out directly onelastic vibration dampers. A vibra-
tion foundation is not required.
